Building a million dollar bankroll

I've been reflecting a lot on how I'd like my future to be and I think I've come up with a solid game plan.

By age 35 I plan to have $2.5 million.
By age 45 I plan to have $20 million.
By age 55 I plan to have $150 million.
By age 65 I plan to retire with $1 billion.
From age 65-80 I plan to use $900 million making the world a better place.
From age 80+ I plan to party and bull****.

I love poker. It is the best option for me to get from my current net worth to a million. I will update this thread periodically until then.

Re: Building a million dollar bankroll

I've been in the poker world for 10 years now. I was introduced to poker when I was 15 and my brother would play online poker on his visits home from college. I was instantly hooked. I watched all of the televised events, made millions in play money online, and knew that I wanted to be a professional when I grew up.

I started playing poker full time right after I finished college. The passed three years have been very transformatitive for me. I've made so many mistakes and I've learned and grown from all of them.

What I have been starting to realize is that I don't want to be playing poker full time for the rest of my life. I will always appreciate and be a student of poker, but my goal is to have a big enough bankroll so that I can play poker when I want to, and not because I need money.

I plan to reach my goal by practicing good bankroll management, playing in games that I know I'm profitable in, and learning more about games that I'm not. Ideally I'll have a million within 5 years.

Re: Building a million dollar bankroll

Felt like updating this even though nothing significant has happened to me with regards to poker results. I have been really motivated to play lately since some of my friends have had some amazing results. In the past few weeks one chopped a Sunday major for over $100k, while two others had live scores of over $120k and $200k. These are all players that are more skilled and experienced than I am, so I am obviously always eager to listen to what they have to say and appreciate their input.

Currently playing in a live $275 with a $250k guarantee. It's my fourth bullet of the day and I have not had a stack size over 10% of starting. Tough day so far, but at my age, bankroll, and level of experience, I feel like I'm doing the right thing.

Love that this is the first post, lol. If I'm ever down to my last $350 I'll use this strategy before looking for work.

Re: Building a million dollar bankroll

Arrived in the Philippines a couple of days ago. Going to be spending the next three months here. A lot of great opportunities for me to build my bankroll since I'll be able to play on stars and there will be 3 separate APT events as well as a WPT regional series. Not going to get into the other types of opportunities that will arise, but suffice it to say that I am blessed.

Was lucky enough to win a seat to the APT main in a live satty today. Weird policy where they make all the satty winners play on day1a. When I asked the TD about it he told me the reason that they do it is to boost the numbers of day1a, which in turn will cause more people to sign up for day1b. Seems like a player unfriendly policy to me, but I'm willing to adjust my schedule for a shot at a million (of Philippine pesos).

Thanks bud. Lol, yeah, that's one way to use a million. I want a million so that I can make more millions. Hookers and blow is quite similar to pornos and weed, just one level above. After that is ladies and wine, followed by wifey and baby. Good luck moving up the stakes.

Firing up the 50,000php APT main in less than an hour. My goal for the trip is to be up 1,000,000php after expenses. Would be nice to lock that up in the first week.

Re: Building a million dollar bankroll

Been in the Philippines for just over a month now. Financially, this trip has been disastrous. Down about $2k in live poker, $2.5k in online poker, and $2.5k in expenses. Also jumped into a swimming pool on Christmas with my iphone and it would cost me $200 to repair it so decided not to. Then a week ago my new macbook broke and haven't been able to repair it. Been grinding on my old macbook that I gave to my cousin when I arrived.

Aside from that, I have been having a blast. I have a very large extended family here, and while I have to pay for everyone when I go out with them, I always end up learning valuable information and having a great time. Dating some great girls, but always have to keep in mind that everything they say is with the aim of trying to get me to settle down with them. Also met some new friends that are always down to smoke tree and just go out and have a good time.

Decided that I am going to try and buy a piece of land and start building a home on it. Realized that I am going to be spending a lot time here while I'm still in my 20s so I might as well diversify my assets a bit as well as own a place of own where I can be alone when I want.

Still a lot of great opportunities for a big score here and really feel like my game is at a pretty high level. Always watching runitonce videos and thinking about the game on my spare time, just trying to stay ahead.

Re: Building a million dollar bankroll

Also learned that my main goal in life is to make as much money as I can, have fun with the money, and give as much as I can afford to people less fortunate as me.

My brother told me something on Christmas morning that stuck with me. He told me if you really want to do something, you shouldn't wait to do it. This had a strong effect on my behavior. I used to think that I should wait until I had a bunch of money and then at that time start donating to the causes that I thought were worthwhile.

But now I see that I start making a difference right now. There are so many people living in poverty here in Philippines. I remember seeing the other day a headline on CNN that said that over 30% of families consider themselves "food poor". So now I just keep as many coins and small bills on me as I can so that I can give to the people that need it more than me. I'm giving about $.20-$.50 to these people, a negligible amount for me, but for a lot of them it's a decent dinner.

My brother is a brilliant man who is here to do research, check out his blog here: http://markjohnsanchez.com/

Also check out Pratyush Buddiga's new blog, gives great insight into the pressure that I'd imagine many tournament players feel: https://medium.com/@pratyushbuddiga/...ebe#.reooa5nsx

Thanks.

My parents were born here and I was born and raised in California. I'd say I have Filipino blood and an American mind.

Haha sorry can't do that, I certainly wouldn't want the girls posting about me in detail on a public forum. The game is very exploitable, +3 sounds reasonable.

Only had one min-cash for the morning session. Heading to the gym, going to take a nap, then have a meal and restart in about 7 hours.
