NL25, SHOTS FIRED !!!!

What's up guys and girls ?

Finally did a shot a NL25 and it's been really hard ... Started of loosing 8 BI in a pretty nasty way, but kept grinding and here is the result !



To be honest, I was close from stepping back down to NL16 but managed to turn it around somehow.

It's only a really small sample, but from what i've seen, the pool isn't really different from NL16, people are a bit more aggro but can't really face aggression really well.

I already felt pretty confident during the session even during the downswing ( even tho I badly wanted to shove a cucumber at some guys a few times and might have suck the "F" word way to much )

I'm gonna stay at that limit until at least the end of May regardless of the bankroll, firstly cause I want at least 30 BI at NL50 to start taking shots, secondly cause I want to be ready before moving up since I haven't played that much NL25 and even less NL50, and finally because I got holidays at the end of May and don't want to rush into NL50 around that time and run bad go on a downswing and be upset just before holidays !

I'm hoping to play around 70k hands this month at NL25 ( except if I have to move down to NL16 obviously ) so i'll have to sample big enough to know where I stand in that limit and should also have the BR for NL50 ready for when I come back fresh from my lads holidays !

Hand - That one started the upswing and also the biggest pot won so far. BU has a massive 3bet stat, so AQ is way to strong to fold, but also not really happy about calling a 3bet pot OOP against aggro guy so decided to 3bet.
Flop is a sick scary monster coming from nowhere, bet here simply because he would have shoved KK/AA river, I also block AK ( which he might shove pre ), so there is only TT that worries me here and maybe AcQx and when cbet I rep basically nuts most of the time here.

1000$ Bankroll !!!!

Hey guys, just finished a pretty cool session where everything went my way, adding that up to me playing A game, it was just flawless !

I was targeting grinding until the 1k$ mark was reach, and it only took me 1200 hands so can't complain !

Now, i've only played 5k hands a 25NL so even if i'm rolled right now to take shots at 50NL, I'd rather stay there for a little while, and as I said in the previous post, I won't probably start taking shots until after my holidays !

So i'm planning to play a total of 50k hands at 25NL, with a 12bbev/100 until then.

But got to say, i'm feeling really comfortable there, which is great, now I know it won't always be that good and i'm probably due a downswing really soon, but I don't think it'll hurt as bad considering how confident I am with my game right now.

I skipped all the stuff in the middle, but nice to see a BR increase to 1k, did you grind that from 40?

Just done a quick session after work, started winning 6 BI within 500 hands, but then dropped almost 4BI within the next 500, did some horrible mistakes and decided it was time to stop for now, i'm way to tired so gonna get some sleep and will maybe play before work tonight, will see !

Nah, not really, I basically took a break from the challenge in July last year, had a rough time around that period and since I was an awful CG player, I thought there was no point in carry on playing and grinding for peanuts when on the side, I could easily spend the amount of my roll in a bottle of vodka in a club cause I was being a stupid kid ( Degen life forever ! )
And so only started back the challenge from the 20th of March ( Last month ) with 100$ at 5NLz with strict BRM.

Looks like you’ve been improving since your last PGCs! What have you done to study / improve? It’s showing in your results for sure.

On the QJ hand where you made trips you can fold IMO with KQ to defend, but you should jam river yourself.

Watch loads of videos, followed some of those PGCs and see how people do it, tried a lot of different start in game and see what was working for me

Only thing I can say is confidence is key but don't get over confident. When you start to run back or have a fairly bad downswing it will make it much harder, some sessions are unwinnable and sometimes losing 10 buyins instead of 15 is all you can do. A day of losing a buyin is nothing to stress about.

Yeah I agree, poker is a weird game ... Asking yourself how can you have loosing days when you're on nice upswing but then asking yourself how can you make some ****ing money with that game a day later when going on a little downswing.

But that's part of the game I guess, mental is probably the most important thing in poker, maybe even more thank skills.

I'm never worried about having loosing session, it's not something I look forward to, but it's not something that scares me either ... Just part of the game !

Hey, just some thoughts on some of hands. I might be totally wrong but maybe something to think about, take care.

IMO just charge bigger river from weaker Jx when he have it (Should be more often then 6x), 5 hands and 60/20 seem not really stats to assume he will c-r bluff on pairing low river.

It obviously cooler AA vs KK, but i don't like raising flop - you look way too strong and this is very safe board for your hand - there is no bad turn cards except A (Assuming he don't 4bet random low hands), by raising you don't give him room for his QQ/AK/AQs ect to put more money while behind and allow get away with weaker hands - only hand you can hope to get called by is QQ and even that is questionable if he should as you represent very strong range by c-r that flop, then AA obviously calls you and you fold out AK/AQs (or more weaker hands you crush if you put him on some wider 4bet range).

What you think about just raising flop? Our hand is very likely best but somewhat vulnerable as there is some draws out there + i would think we get from Qx on average more when we start raise now when he is still comfortable with his hand, A/K/J/ and maybe T/9 can kill our action from Q on turn.
I would call with QQ/JJ as we block more his donk/call range but with 77 we don't block any Qx/Jx.

Yes i agree that his range is likely mostly weak pair like 7x after he 2bb/call flop there and just c/c turn, would bet smaller on river.

Yeah Should definitely bet bigger OTR, but the way I saw it was that it's a 5way flop, and loads of hands are gonna donk that board/check raise. (2P, Sets, TP ), so when he check call here, I pretty much expect FD/SD ...
Turn I decide to bet bigger size to value all those hands, knowing that he would raise here any 2P/sets/straight.
So river for me here I don't see many value hands, but i'm still too strong to check back so decided to bet on smaller side and hopefully he will turn his hand into bluffs often enough for me to make it profitable.
But yeah, betting bigger river is definitely an option !

On the 77 hand, well, I found out against that pool that loads of people would donk TP/2P here cause they scared of getting checked back, so doubt he's got any draw here, not many turns are gonna scare me beside maybe J/T/9, so was kind of hoping for brick turn knowing that he'll carry on turn most likely.
And turn is beautiful, but when he dons again, I'm pretty sure he's got at least TP and won't probably fold raise here.
When he calls, i'm pretty sure he won't fold river regardless of the bet, especially on that river, so perfect spot to overbite shove.

On the last hand, I think I should most of the time bet slightly bigger turn maybe around 24bbs, so shoving river would be easier for him to call, but as played, yeah, probably bet smaller river ...
