hi guys !

this is my first ever blog/forum post/thread posted on the internet so please donÂ’t mind my mistakes or anything bad , also iÂ’m from non english speaking country so donÂ’t mind my spelling or typing mistakes , iÂ’m sorry about that

so to start , I’m 20 years old guy , i have been playing poker since ~16 , started playing little bit seriously around age of 18 when i turn to adult . First 2 years i was playing very low-frequently, mostly on weekends or during some bigger series . I was losing player but it was just small money at the time , around 10-20 bucks per month , until i won a $11 Hu mtt for about $1.5k just few days after i turned 18 which was amazing obv . I was still in the high school which pretty much affected the volume i could possibly give to the poker , and because i was not really enjoying school I was always frustrated about that , because i thought i could be making tons of money if i can only be interested in poker . This was probably most crucial part and time of my career where i create some kinda “chasing money” system inside my mind , and from this point it was pretty much just about making money as fast as possible so i can “escape” from reality and drop from school ect. This obviously lead into loosing not just $1.5k i won , but also pretty much all my money which was around €500 at the time , in period of maybe 6 months . Constantly playing out of bankroll , jump to high stakes ect .
Then during summer , i took a summer job to earn some money that would provide me some decent bankroll so i can grind everything back , so i earn around €3k , to only lose it just month after summer ends and ii had to go back to school . This was probably the most challenging period in my life so far , i was barely talking to friends , family , lost interest in sport ect .
Then eventually i finished school in may 2020 , just few months ago , and imidiately went to job when i earned again around 3-4€k , at the time I started grinding nl25 / nl50 and was doing pretty well , i was first time living on my own which was huge +EV thing i guess and i made around $3k on cashgames and also binked mtt for 3.3$k , this was around October/November last year and this little upswing makes me quit my shitty job and just playing full time . This was so far the best period in my life , i was meditating , reading , exercising , just really was living the best version of myself . Then i went back to home in December because of corona and everything and in first two weeks at home i end up losing all my money for the second time in my life . I lost around $4k in one single week which was brutal . I went back to chasing loses after losing sess.. randomly jumping to NL500 .. so basically , last month was for me insane , i went from finally making money from poker , living best life TO failure again .. this is another whole story so i don’t wanna make this intro really huge .

So basically i left just with 200€ on my name , with no bankroll , with some mental disorders as well and with no interest in life at all . I decide that i’m going to apply to university in September this year so till then , i’m going to try grind out my last money , or just lose them as usually after few weeks (hopefully first option) , i was wondering one night and came with conclusion that this forum could lead me into developing some discipline and consistency because i think those two things are mainly reasons that i’m failure at the moment . During my career i was playing mostly cash games , up to NL200 (i will post the pic of my stack so you know i’m not a fish) so i probably going to play 70-30 cash/mtts

I am going to start with $100 bankroll on pokerstars , and my goal is to reach $10000 until this year . At the moment i have nothing to do so i will be grinding around 40 hours a week , hopefully i wonÂ’t be gambling and hopefully it will goes great .

I think i will be posting some week goals and week results on weekly basis , so it will keep me from not gambling (hope so) and will keep me playing A game and building bankroll consistently

I plan to start next Monday or Tuesday so wish me luck and feel free to leave some comment or anything , thanks again

If you're playing on Stars, ban yourself immediately from higher stakes games. I've been there throughout the years, grinding lower, then shotting higher and failing, feeling totally shitty and taking months off. Grind it out man! Good luck

Thanks man , i did , actually i did ban myself from stakes higher than NL200 so I think I should be okay .

Since tomorrow is Monday , i think it’s great opportunity to kick off and start the challenge so I’m gonna do so by setting goals for next week . Some goals will also include non-poker stuff so i hope it’s okay .

The goals for next week (11.1 - 17.1) :

Grind 25k hands at NL 5 zoom - with regular breaks during sessions
Take safe shots at MTT’s - no more than 20% BR on buyins in single session
Mainly target smaller fields tournaments with <$5 BI
Workout 3 times a week
Cut social media to max 30 minutes/day
Watch/listen at least one poker oriented podcast
Meditate at least 4 days a week

I think those are very reachable goals and i should easily reach them . I will track my hands on Pokertracker4 so at the end of the week i will post results and conclusions . Wish me luck

Hi there

my notebook are installing some updates so I am not able to grind because it is using almost 90% of CPU and RAM (lol) so I decided to write little half-way update about my goals for this week .

So far i have played around 11k hands at NL5 , the pool seems to be very soft but anyway , it is still small sample to be making some conclusions about it , but it is definitely beatable . I was not sure how i should be playing but after few sessions i hugely simplified my game and i find out that you don't have to be ever thinking about terms like balancing your 3bet range from BTN , or trapping with strong / nutty hands . All you need to do in those games is raise strong ranges , and bet big with big hands . Also bluffing seems almost impossible unless you bluffing very great regular which happens very occasionally so i basically do not bluff anymore .

At the end of the week i will probably post also some hands if you guys are interested , maybe some biggest pots or just some wild wild hands , let me know if you would like to see anything .

So here is graph of my first 11k hands (goal is 25k till Sunday)

[IMG][/IMG]

That puts my challenge to a following numbers :

Starting bankroll : $100
Current bankroll : $179.99
Profit/Loss : + $79.99
Goal : $10,000 ($9,820.01 to go)

That is for now and see you guys on Sunday

Hi guys ..

So the first week has passed and I am here with some results and conclusions . First I wanna take a look at non-poker goals which were :

exercising 3 times a week
I did something every day except friday , so i think this one is done successfully . It is hard to find something when gyms are closed atm , and outside is cold as **** but every time there is some way to do at least "something"

cutting social media
I failed at this one heavily , my screen time shoves me that i was using Instagram at 44 minutes on avg , ofc it is not a big deal at all but i feel like I am kinda addicted to it in some light way , and it is affecting my day to day productivity and performance and definitely my POKER GAME , so I should put some work into this next week

meditate at least 4 days
I did meditate every day , never longer than 10 minutes , but i think consistency and quality at this one is much important than length at the moment , but I will try to push myself harder in following weeks/months because i think it's really improving my game and performance especially in longer sessions

watch/listen poker podcast
I did not complete this task

Now finally , poker goals and poker results

Grind 25k hands at NL5 zoom

successfully done , but because i have not played MON and TUE , it was challenging to play 25k hands in basically 4-5 days , i think my game dropped drastically in last 5-7k hands where i was basically just "chasing" that 25k goal and was not focused as much on my game . I will probably lower number of hands little bit , for the next week . Anyway i made a decent profit , around $150 , games are very soft so i feel very positive about this one .

Here is graph of cash

[IMG][/IMG]

MTT's

I also played few tournaments , I took a shots in few $11 which was a bit aggressive but I was running great in Cash so I decided to take it . Also made some decent profit in MTT's .

The MTT graph

[IMG][/IMG]

So I would say it was pretty great starting week , hopefully i will gain some momentum to following weeks .

That puts my challenge to a following numbers :

Starting bankroll : $100
Current bankroll : $328.15
Profit/Loss : + $228.15 ... $2.5 from rakeback
Goal : $10,000 ($9,671.85 to go)

[IMG][/IMG]

I will define goals for next week tomorow so stay tuned and all the best at the tables

Hey,

aren't you from a Slavic country? (judging based on your sn).

Anyway, GL!

Btw, what kind of MTTs do you play? And isn't using 20 % of your BR for a single session too aggro approach? Just curious

Hey , thanks man and yes I am from Slovakia , not exactly Slavic country but very close i guess , where are you from ?
I mostly play normal MTT's with regular speed , and also bounty builders , and given that i made some profit in last week and move to $320 i will maybe start mixing some SNG'os , wheter $2.5 180 men or $3.5 6max hyper/turbos .
And yes , i think 20% on a single session is little bit brave and maybe silly , so i will probably drop this number for the next week but not too much , i think currently games are very soft and beatable so i think it is aggresive approach but okayish .

GOALS FOR THE WEEK NO. 2

Hi guys I am here with goals for this week , hopefully I can ran at least good as last week and came step by step closer to the main goal

Because I felt last days in previous week like I was not playing my A game anymore , i decided to drop number of hands for this week for cash games and instead , increase number of MTT's . I think i will mostly be focusing on NL 10 with current bankroll ($328) , maybe take few shots on NL 16 , but no more than 2BI / no under $300 . If I will run very horrendous and drop roll below $200 I will go back to NL 5 for re-grind .
So the final goals for this week are :

- 15k hands at NL10/16
- 35 MTT's / SNG'os
- review my session / my game at least once
- workout 3 times a week
- less social media , no more than 35 min/day of usage

So wish me luck and all the best of luck for you at the tables see you next time
