Hello PG&C,

Its been too long since I have been posting and reading regularly on 2p2, I have learned and loved my experiences on the forums ever since I found it in 2010.

Quick Background
30 y/o education professional in Houston TX (associate professor of chemistry at community college). Playing poker ever since freshman year of college at UCF in orlando around 2005. Transitioned to dealing at underground games throughout graduate school in Nashville, TN until 2014. Trips to vegas over the last 10 years or so along with Tunica, Southern Indiana, Choctaw, SoFla, to play tourneys and cash. Play all of the games. Never kept track of cash results or tourney cashes that specifically. Binked one tourney win (Big O) in 2012 at Caesars Poker Series during WSOP Trip Report Here https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/1...s-itt-1223097/

I am an improperly bankrolled losing cash game player, love a good 1/3 NLHE or 1/3 PLO.......

BUT I BELIEVE I CAN SHOW A PROFIT AT SMALL STAKES NLHE TOURNAMENTS!!! I now have an opportunity to prove this to myself.

The Garage
I have recently found a local establishment that runs weekly tournaments on multiple days. Safe, well run, good dealers, recreational players, example of schedule below.

Monday & Friday $60 ($45 prize pool/$5 house/$5 high hand/$5 dealer toke): 10k starting stack, 15 minute blinds, one $60 re-buy per table, about 4 hour tourney, average 50-70 players, average age 45+, highest 5 card hand that is shown down wins high hand pool, winner gets Tourney of Champions seat at the end of the quarter. *Structure is ok, no antes, avg of ~20 big blinds at final table*

I want to prove to myself that between now, and my Vegas trip for the series, I can show a profit in these tournaments, along with Saturday and Sunday tournaments sprinkled in if I can attend. I also want to have a place to share and compile info and discussions. Feel free to comment, all advice and questions are welcome, I answer questions for a living .....

Update:

3/11/17 - 3 table tourney, 3 places paid, Out 5th, won $100 high hand (65432) [+$40]
Important Hands
Hero (BB) ~30BBs: 55
Villain {LAG OLD MAN} (CO) ~50BBs:
Spoiler:
KQ
Raises 3x
Flop: A58
Hero A/I
Villain Call
Turn: 4
River: 2
Looking back I realize that this is a simple and easy shove preflop

3/16/17 - 6 table tourney, Hero Out Early, coinflip [-$60]

3/23/17 - 7 table tourney, all re-buys used, Hero at ~10 BBs almost entire tourney, most early decisions were simple push/fold preflop. Won coinflip with 13k at 1500/3000, to get back to ~30k, and now with a blind stealing stack I chip up to ~50k.
Important Hands
2k/4k 12 players left
Hero (UTG) ~50k TT Shoves A/I
Villain (UTG+1) {LAG OLD LADY} ~200k Snap Call
Spoiler:
AQ

Flop: 8437T
Hero at ~100k feeling good

1st $975/2nd $515/3rd $405 , 10 places paid (decided to take money from 1st/2nd to pay 9th/10th $60) , at final table I fluctuate from 50k to 150k standard Shove/Fold situations winning a flip with AJ vs 44, finally down to 3 players and doubled once waking up with AA in the BB. Villain 1 felts Villain 2 playing KK heads up to perfection. Hero has ~5BBs and chops for $590 giving 1st $900 and ToC seat.

Tips Dealers $50

[+$530]

Might play the bounty tomorrow if I get some work done.

CURRENT PROFIT +$510

3/24/18: $100 ($60+$40 Bounties) also "Surprise Bounty" if you knock that person out you get freeroll to $60 tourneys

3 tables, 2 re-buys per table, Nothing exciting in the first few levels.

BRAIN FART
Table has been passive, hero for some silly reason decides to limp (players had been playing big hands passive) at 500/1k, and call off coin-flip against SB squeeze

2 limps in front of Hero
Hero: ~8k (MP) 88 limps I know this is a no brainer shove with less than 10BB
2 limps after Hero
Villain: ~20k (SB) Shoves A5
Folds to Hero, Call
Pot ~21k
Flop:
247
Turn:
6
River:
A

Playing $60 tourney Sunday
.
Profit [+$410]

Great learning spot, I am happy with the value bets, I just have to fold to these types of players, but I talked myself into thinking he hit 2 pair.

Shipped 10ish BB's with KJ and can't beat AT
