Having a lot better villain selection lately and I see my winrate improving. I have some allergies during the summer and the medicine I take for it sometimes makes me super tired and that keeps me from grinding. Not much else going on!

Re: Bored of university, swedish student goes all-in on poker

July was a good month, I feel very confident and I have improved in many areas that isnít directly related to poker strategy such as the importance of picking the right opponents and overall mental game. I have started working more on playing more tables as well. The BPC meeting in Dubrovnik was very awesome. Meeting all of the guys was amazing and I really felt like I belonged to something bigger.

The seminars and overall atmosphere of the meeting made me think what I really wanted to do in the next few years. I have subconsciously felt that I could always go back to school if poker didnít work out. This made me less committed to poker and I think it affect my motivation a lot. The meeting made me rethink and I want to commit to poker now, more than I did before. The past year I have learned a lot about myself and I want to keep going. As Gordon say: Poker is one of the best life schools.

Going into August I have made a challenge with some other members to play 300 hours, if I fail I have to pay 1 000 euro. I want to try and see where I break. How much can I play in a month until I break? When I know the answer to this question I know what Iím capable of and can set my standards after that. I will also focus on playing more tables.

Here is the graph for July:

Re: Bored of university, swedish student goes all-in on poker

Havenít played as much as I would like to the past week because I have been practicing to get my driver license and I also spent a day building my new computer. Its going to be a small one so I can take it with me easier but the motherboard was broken so I had to send that in to get a new one, **** happens.

Iím watching some old advanced videos to refresh my memory and there is certainly a lot of stuff that I have forgotten.

Right now I have played 106 hours out of the 300 so 194 hours left and 18 days left so need to put in more hours!

Re: Bored of university, swedish student goes all-in on poker

August is over and I managed to get 300 hours and also got my drivers license. It was very rough in the last week because I had to spend valuable time on driving practice and also some unfortunate run of cards that made me tilt and loose focus. I found out that Iím very passive in some spots when I donít feel confident in myself.

Iím glad I made the challenge but I think I wont be able to do that many hours again. This month I will only focus on making a lot of money. I have tried to play many hours and many hands. Now its time to use this knowledge to max my profit.

Re: Bored of university, swedish student goes all-in on poker

September started great and I felt very good. Towards the middle of the month I started loosing and had a hard time to get action during the day. At this point my motivation hit rock bottom. Sitting and waiting for action for long times made me loose focus and some unfortunate events like lucky hit and runners affected my mental games in ways it hasn't done before and I caught myself doing mistakes that I thought I had gotten rid of.

At this point I started searching for motivation by studying more and play in different time of the day. I also started eating more healthy and sleep in a more "humane" way. Nothing seemed to be working and I started to project how my future would be. Could I find myself doing this for the next year or two? I came up with two options. Either I strive towards joining the elite HU program where there is more reg-battling and in that way hopefully get more motivation. This would mean I had to push myself in ways I didnt think was possible with the motivation I had.

The other option was to switch to another poker format inside BPC. I have always been interested in 6max PLO so I asked Janez (the CFP manager) if it were possible for me to switch program. He told me he had to ask Gordon and look at my numbers. Fortunately for me the switch was possible and now Im a member of the 6max PLO program! I have already watched the starter videos and I must say that the coach (KasinoKrime) that I have heard only good things about, is very good! I havent had any coaching sessions yet but I feel a lot more motivated already! I think many of the mistakes I made in the beginning of my HU CFP experience will help me a lot when I embark on this PLO journey

Re: Bored of university, swedish student goes all-in on poker

Right now I have a lot of momentum. I sleep on regular times and I eat very good (low carbs diet is the way to go for me). There is a lot of new concepts to get into my head and also some old concepts that has to go. One in particular is how low fold equity there is in Omaha compared to Holdem. The result is that people aren’t semi-bluffing as much as they were in Holdem. If you get raised or if someone bets its almost always a nutted hand or a combo draw with loads of outs. I have to keep going and build up my momentum even more! Right now I have a lot of momentum.

Re: Bored of university, swedish student goes all-in on poker

I have learned a lot since my last update. The video lessons is very fundamental but also practical examples. In the beginning of the month I had a bit of an experimenting phase where I played too tight post-flop, too loose pre-flop etc to try stuff out. I think Iím on the right track and after Fridays coaching something dawned on me. I suddenly started thinking in the right way and asking the right questions when I play. I still have a lot of learn but things are going in the right direction and Itís a lot of fun! My coach KasinoKrime is so awesome! Really good at explaining and we have a lot of fun in coaching!

I have 3 books that I read that coach recommended to me and Iíve enjoyed all of them so far. The first one was ďWith winning in mindĒ which was a short read that in my opinion caught some very good concepts in a concise form and it was easy to read because it was all storied about real people. This main thing that I take from this book is that in order to be successful you have to focus on the process and not the result. The book suggested to write a performance journal that I have written since I finished the book. It doesnít take long to write but it forces you to focus on the process and not the results which I like!

The second book is ďBlink!Ē that is about how we can make very swift and accurate decision in our unconscious mind and relaying on those decisions is often better than gathering too much information and make a conscious decision. Itís very interesting practical examples in the book and surely there is parallels to poker. The main one is playing with a HUD. More often than not having too much information in the HUD can delude you to make a bad decision instead of helping you do the right one. Itís very important to focus on the right things and not overthink the decisions. I believe that a lot of poker players would benefit from having less stuff in the HUD and rely more on board texture and things like that. Of course it would be stupid to play without a HUD but maybe even more stupid to play with a HUD that hurts you. Less is more!

The third book is ďHow to be a poker playerĒ but I have only read the first few pages so I canít say anything about this one yet but I will get back to that when I finished it.

Anyways here is the graph from 1-12 october:
