I’m a 22 years old university student from Sweden starting my fourth year after the summer. In the past I have purchased some materials like HUMastermind and other courses. I have been active on Deucescracked and Bestpokercoaching etc. but have not been 100% serious. When i saw Gordons videos on Pokerstrategy where he told that anyone with the right mindset could become a successful poker player I felt that I had what he was seeking so I decided to contact him. He took me in but i had to quit becouse I got some unforeseen hinders becouse of my studies.

This summer I contacted him again, but he said he does not have sufficient time, but recommended me some other people to ask. Luckily JurrassicDaniel whose thread in this forum I got inspired from was willing to give it a shot. I’m going to use this thread as a journal and give back to the community this way as well.

Played alot today and i also went through alot of my old hands and found alot of improvements i should make and past mistake i learned from! It was a very productive day and im happy with the results even if i made some obvious mistakes when i played.

I get very angry with myself when i do mistakes and i get kind of tilted, not becouse i was unlucky but that i did a mistake myself. Atleast i know that i did a mistake and i feel that alot of my leaks have been fixed this week with sessions and coaching. Learning alot it’s just a matter of time before i crush NL50!

Hand of the day

Villain is unknown. How do you react to the check-raise?

BB: $79.76 (159.5 bb)
Hero (SB): $52.35 (104.7 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with K Q
Hero raises to $1.50, BB raises to $4.75, Hero calls $3.25

Flop: ($9.50) 7 T J (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $6.60, BB raises to $13.20, Hero ?

Graph of today is very swingy since i did some mistakes

Var hittar du HU action?
Jag köpte också kursen för några år sen men gav upp för att alla satte ut hela tiden. Omöjligt att få in händer.

The start of the week have been horrible, i have been running really bad and also made some mistakes when i experimented with barreling and calling barrels. I have gotten alot of information this week and i have not made sense of it all yet. I have lost about 8 buyins from 2 outers on the river. Today i will go through all my hands that i have turn barrel and also where villain turn barrel.

Preflop is fine.

Post Flop; I'd def check-this back. Both for deception, and because we have a lot of equity to improve to nutted hands and good TP's for some bluff catching. I think if turn bricks I might stab or call dependant if villain bets or not where you can bluff rivers or value raise if you get there.

As played we cannot fold, so jamming over the top could be an option. Calling is somewhat meh.

I have not been playing so much since last update. Instead i have focused on learning and improving my game. I felt that when i was not winning i was not confident to play so i decided to work on my game instead. Yesterday i had an exam aswell so i have been studying for that and it has taken my focus from poker.

After my coaching with Daniel on sunday i felt more confident to put in some hands and it went alot better. In the past i have been betting too small with my value hands and lost alot of value. I have been focusing on betsizing and also villain selection and it have been going good. Im getting my confidence up and now i just have to keep it there.

Soon my courses in the university will begin but i have to do 2 exams first. The exam i did yesterday went very good! I think i must spend more time on scheduling in the future to avoid school from effecting my poker goals to much.

Since last update my coaches have introduced a new system where we have to meditate, plan the next day in detail and keep everything ordered. Before todays session i meditated for 10 minutes and i felt very fresh in the mind when i entered the tables and in the session i felt stable. I played a very weak guy for over 400 hands and in the start i got ahead of him for 1 BI and he re bought and we kept fighting. At one time in the match he had won everything back and was up 10 euros on me but i reminded myself that if i just keep playing the luck will even out and i will win against him. In the end i finished about 2 BI plus and he left.

I felt very good about myself that i did not give up. I did very solid plays and folded when i needed to and I'm proud of my progress. This day i won 80 euros and it feels great to finally put some green numbers on the charts .

The system that i have implemented today is great i think that it will help me a lot in the future to stay solid and manage my time. Time management and mindset is one of the greatest thing you can learn, it applies to so many things in life. Tackling failures is also apart of life and recently i have felt that i have failed. I evolve as a poker play and also as a human being and that is what i strive to do in everything.

If you put your mind and hard work into something you will succeed in the end, if you haven't succeeded yet it's not the end :P

All my exams is done and today i got back to the tables for the first time in a few days. The exams went good and the courses I’m going to study starts on 1st of September. They don’t seem to be so much time consuming so i will hopefully make school+poker work as i want it to.

Before i started the session i read through all my notes to refresh my memory. I felt good and had some ups and down but ended +40 euro. I’m happy with every day i get a green result, i learn a lot and the big winnings will come soon. I lost 2 buy-ins from JJ-QQ and 88-AKo so it could have gone better, but i did not do many mistakes so I’m happy!

Tomorrow i will have coaching with Daniel and we are going to have coaching twice a week instead of once and make the coaching shorter. I think that is better because i get feedback more often. My main goals atm is bet-sizing and villain selection and in today’s session i focused on both and i think i made progress. I quit some villains that play to passive because i loose a lot of money in rake and if i have other villains i rather focus on them.

Graph for today:

The big swing down is when i lost JJ-QQ and 88-AKo but i got it all back after a few hands

This month has been very good even if i lost in the end. I have learnt many new things and everything is going like i thought it would. School starts tomorrow and i look forward to the challenge of playing both poker and keeping my grades up both at the same time. My goals in poker has been villain selection and bet-sizing and i think i have improved my bet-sizing during the month. For September i hope to have better results and villain selection and bet-sizing will still be my goals but i will also add hand reading and taking up time on each decision. Sometimes i play too fast and on too many tables and make simple mistakes.

Goals for September:

1. Villain selection.

2. Bet-sizing.

3. Hand reading.

4. Don’t play too fast and max 2 tables at once.

Here is graph for August results:

Today i had meeting with the other CFP HU students and they all seemed to be very nice guys and a good mix of both age and contries. I miss to have someone to discuss poker with that is on the same path as me. It’s a lot easier when you have downswings and a lot more fun when you have upswings if you can share it with someone who understands what your are going through.

I can’t believe i lost this hand haha xD
