Mental game wise I have been doing very well and its at a point where I have to be very careful because its hard to tell if my mental game is impacting my results or my results impacting my mg. False confidence can be devastating to your mg so I'm keeping up on my mg work proactively, as it is easy to let that area of study slide when everything is going well.

Anyway here's some fun hands!

There were 2-3 real savage losses to keep me in line but I won't bother showing them because there's too much positive going right now! The bad stuff can wait it's turn.

Gonna keep pushing my volume towards my goals and maybe in a month or two Ill look to move back up to 500nl reg tables and go from there!

Had another good day going before I take a 2 day break for a small trip!

Unfortunate spot but if my math is right then im calling off 220 to win 686 (assuming villain behind never folds) which means we need 32% equity and we have 35% otf vs any flush. Pretty sure we fold lower sets 100% since we can be set over set still and lose a lot of equity being dominated like that but when 1 or both players can have lower sets or spazzes (maybe AsX bluffs) occasionally, I think we still have to call off even though we face atleast 1 flush a lot of the time.

That being said, we have a Major Update!!!!

Yesterday I added some 500nl to my mix and although I had a slow weekend in terms of total hands (lots of time spent studying and being sick), I had an absolutely sick upswing!!

Lets take a look at some of these mint HHs:

I 3bet flop because I block a lot of x/r bluffs with Ah and it's not a great board to x/r bluff air so I think he has a large continuing range vs my raise. OTT if I'm not sure if I love overshove but the alternative is to bet like 20bb and shove riv for 75% pot but this board is going to run out very drawy often and were not likely to get 3 streets often from Qx so I decide to deny his draws equity (lots of his fds are combos at this point remember) and he will never fold 9x and may sigh call off Qx even.

This one is actually kinda scary vs his raise range but if it includes bluffs then were golden. in reality he prob has 7 combos of TT,97s and 12 combos of KT, maybe some T8s so I think its a shove regardless, but we lose this one sometimes for sure

I think I make a mistake betting turn and shoving riv. AP could x back riv or shove, kinda close because bad riv card to bluff. but I think I should just check turn back to realize eq 100% and bluff other combos that don't block AA/QQ/AK/AQ like 54s, maybe 87s, 89s for boat blockers, but not sure how I play them ott. Will review this hand for sure

I was checking out the BTS thread here in PG&C and was inspired to post some of my own pictures of the scenery and culture in Brazil, a place I'm now calling my second home!

Maybe I'll put some up of Canada eventually if I have any good ones. Not a whole lot to see here in Ontario though haha.

More 500nl action & updates to come soon

Thanks! Glad you like it!

Here are my hands since the last update:

A good little low variance win!

His play is fine but the T blocker sucks, would be far superior with A5dd or AKdd ofc. but if he does all Axdd and 56dd + 9 combos of sets and some AQ then he's got a good x/r range although maybe too many bluffs (with equity mind you). The issue is that his x/c range becomes fairly weak and we can hammer his turn x range with lots of bluffs.

This one im unsure of river. Theoretically its an easy bluffcatcher with As but Im just not sure villains in these games bluff enough after you call turn on a flush board and paired river. He has to follow through which a lot of KJ, J9, 87 hands (which in theory some should for sure) but in practice meh. Could prob fold river. I tank called.

Hey guys. Bumping while im away for the weekend. Gonna play the last two days of the month and then make a big end of month update full of content!

Alright guys here's the Big October Update!!

Ill split this up into two posts, one for main content and then one shortly after full of HHs since my last update. I went out of town for a couple days so I didn't get as much volume in since then as I would've liked, but I did end the month hitting my goals!

[x] 80 Hours Played (87)
[x] 40k Hands Played (43k)

So for my first full month in this PG&C I was lucky enough to run like the sun and have my biggest winning month in terms of pure profit. This marks my 3rd ever 10k+ month after extras like rb, coaching, and other investments, but for pure poker winnings my next 2 closest were slightly over 10k and slightly under 10k, so this month felt amazing!

It also marks my return to 400nl+ (now solely 500nl) and I was lucky enough to catch an extreme heater in my short amount of hands there. I obviously ran ridiculously good at 200nl as well. This comes off the back of two losing months where I was a combined -4k so this was a very nice confidence booster.

Overall Monthly Tracking

Here are the results of my month to month tracking which include hours played, mental game and technical game studying, meditation, and working out. The smallest numbers on top are my expected output, the middle are my current month totals, and then of course my previous month and record month totals. So for the past 3 months I surpassed my hours (probably past 6+ months tbh), fell short of my studying records, and bombed in meditation. I also fell short on workouts by 1 unfortunately.

The good news about my workout regime is that I'm now down to 187.5 lbs!. With about 3 weeks until my hockey season starts, I'm on good pace to break 180. When I started this conditioning stint almost exactly 2 months ago, I was 206 lbs. I'm quite happy with my progress despite slacking too much in the 2nd half of October.

The Cat

The third and final piece of content for this post is that my GF and I adopted a kitty!!!!

We've had him for 4 days now and he's about 5 weeks old. We're still deciding on a name but it's likely between Dexter and Watson. Feel free to express your opinion on the name issue!

HHs will come soon after this!

The only losing hand worth posting. Not sure if we prefer to x/r this deep. I think 100bb deep I x/r a lot here. X/c is def fine though too, just sucks to potentially realize a bit of equity but have to fold otr. Against some regs you can prob call river profitably, but vs gen pop no way!

Thanks man, def appreciate it!

Today is the day that we planned to name Kitty. I'm not sure if it will happen but I gave my girlfriend a set amount of days to land on a name she wanted. But it may still not happen and no big deal. I just knew she'd be very undecided and picky haha so I tried to boost her motivation to find one.

It looks like were definitely down to two names though between Dexter and Watson so we're close!

PS: This has probably become a cat thread. poker is dead anyhow. deal with it.

You are correct sir, In fact I think I may have written that for this hand here and then switched hands because I may have posted it in an earlier post.

will def have to review the AT hand to see if its a x/r or x/c otf ~100bb deep. both spots I tanked on the decision and opted to x/c both so I think I confused myself on which was which haha

I actually went down the rabbit hole on this one because it was bothering me so much that I couldn't find a definite solution. I generally avoid lines of thought that include definitions like "clear" or "easy" because it makes room for error without even knowing it.

Maybe in another post I can show my work but after trying to figure it out mathematically, doing tons of PIO sims, and discussing the spot with my coach and other players, we came to the conclusion that the standard play is to x/c flop. But it comes super close in EV and in some scenarios it seems splitting at a frequency of max 50/50 is optimal, but that calls for some very specific scenarios and overall vs unknown players we should do better by check calling this spot.
