Chapter 1: A Dying Breed (P.1-3)

We start this thread off amidst a journey to beating MSNL cash games online and enjoying life along the way

Chapter 2: Dexter's Laboratory (P.3-N/A)

In Chap 2 life gets a bit crazy after completing the first full month in thread with our biggest winning month of all time, and at the same time adopt a kitten named Dexter, who starts taking over the thread because who cares about poker, this cat is freakin adorable.

How will we continue at 500nl and with the overall grind? Mental game has been good but will it slip? Will I reach my weight loss goal of 25-30 lbs in 3 months? Will Dexter succeed in ripping out any keys on my MSI laptop? only time will tell!

I kind of just assumed this was a turn bet but maybe I was wrong. but then I dont dislike bet/call with equity and im not sure what he raises turn with that I don't have decent equity against or am ahead of. River could be a bluffcatch theoretically for sure but these lines from unknowns are usually unbalanced to value and idk, I tank folded this one as I do have better hands to call river with.

my x/r isnt big enough here this deep and I get in a really weird spot. call seems best though and ott I just have to x/c again ofc with additional outs and sdv. bink otr and normally I dont donk in these spots but I think a lot of bluffs will shut down this deep as well as value so since he never folds a flush I might as well shove and try to pick up some calls from worse hands that were vbetting before the flush hit.

I think in my first 5-6k hands of 500nl I'm up like 12bi, running at ev of about 5bi so the variance has been heavily in my favour, and I'm not complaining!

Just got back from an awesome weekend trip! Ill be posting a small trip report with some great pics in the next couple days. I just need to get them all together

Chapada Diamantina Trip Report

So over the weekend I went on what I thought was going to be a small road trip to a cottage style town in NE Brazil. It turned out to be a full 3 day hiking trip to some of the coolest and most beautiful places I've ever seen in my life, So get ready for a ton of pictures!


Here I am on the night of arrival taking a shot of Cachaca, which is apparently a tradition before going on a hike


My girlfriend and I, she wants to be apart of the blog! She'll hopefully one day start her own travel blog filled with trips like this.


We'd eat dinner all three nights on this street



Day 1

Hiking through the mountains to see some iconic table tops in the park











It's pretty incredible how far this mountain range extends. Miles of nothing but forrest and wildlife and very simple lifestyles



Day 2

This day was mostly spent in caves, one sandstone and one underwater, as well as a riverside resort and a lot more hiking

And it led to this Minas Morgul style staircase. makeshift stairs were a common theme over the weekend!


Now the underwater cave. We snorkeled through about half a kilometer of cave that was up to 15 ft deep and had about 3-5 feet of airspace from the ceiling




We didn't get any good pictures inside the underwater cave due to how dark it was and the waterproof bag the phone was in being misaligned on the camera




Day 3

This day included more stairs, hiking, and a natural waterslide!

This stretch of yellow rock is made of limestone among other things and is so smooth that it's become a natural waterslide for locals and tourists. I went down it a couple times and it was amazing!




This guy was in his mid 30s's and a local guide/lifeguard for the area. He's paid by the government to hike out here each day and help out tourists. You could tell he loved the place like a home. He told us he left his fiance who moved back to her native country so he could stay here


The the entire day went from about 6am to 2pm, when we headed out for lunch and made the trip home




I also made a personal purchase in the form of a full chess set. They were hand carved from stone from the mountains in the area, and the person who makes them only makes one after the last sells, so while they weren't too expensive, they are very unique! Here are the main pieces below. I love the style and I've been wanting to get a nice chess set for about a year now. They are solid stone nd quite big/heavy but unfortunately the black is obviously painted on. The board with this set was about 20-30 lbs of solid stone and cost even more than the pieces. It was a nice board but I can find a better one or even have one custom made for the pieces to match better. For the sake of luggage weight I couldn't bring something that heavy with me so I bought the pieces separately



All in all this turned out to be a pretty amazing trip, even though I went into it thinking we'd be relaxing around a small town/resort for the majority of the weekend. I didn't even need to workout after the amount of km we logged walking! My girlfriend gets on my case for not taking an interest in trips beforehand (she loves planning them out in detail) but I think this weekend road trip was a perfect example of why I enjoy going into them with a blank canvas of knowledge. It allows for a some very enjoyable surprises!

Things are still going pretty good on the felt. Gotta enjoy the times you run super good and use that feeling to handle the times when it doesn't.




I leave for Canada this weekend, and then next weekend Ill head to London (Ontario) to see Arkells live, so I'm very excited for that! Not really sure about shove or call on this turn. On one hand were quite far ahead of his range and can call IP to keep bluffs and some med strength value from having a chance to fold. But on the other, lots and lots of bad rivers that can shut down action or realize opp's equity. were deep too and I still get a little giddy in these spots at 500nl so I opted to shove and be done with it. I'm extremely lucky to have another 5 digit month back to back. This heater has been the best of my life so far without a doubt. Its also lucky that I started this pg&c just before it began, but I can tell you this isn't a normal occurance. In the past 2-3 years I'm now at about 5 10k+ months with my biggest losing being arond -5k. It's a process and a long term realization, so any month that's above 0 is a positive month as long as I feel I'm playing my best and doing things right off and around the tables to give me the best opportunity to succed on them!




^Due to an hh corruption issue this is missing about 6k hands and 1k profit

So I missed the mark on my hands and hours unfortunately, but with a 3 day hiking trip and a 2 day overseas flight, I ended up missing a few key grinding days. I also logged a lot of study hours so I don't feel too bad about missing my goals given how busy the month was for me.

This one might always be a turn call but again were real deep and I wasn't sure if keeping bluffs in were worth facing a lot of bad river cards. only his bluffs have spades in them which is nice but he may not fire on blank rivers. I got a nice desktop mic for recording videos and skype calls etc. Its pretty good so far! neither of these things are high end or anything but for the prices theyre pretty good quality, especially after BF discounts! The bose headphones are the first time I've gone away from gaming headsets (these are replacing my astros) to get a more audio focused brand name. First ive ever gotten with noise cancelling as well which is a pretty neat feature.

Ive been playing well and noticing more of my mistakes which is really good. Mini update:

decided to run a 5k today for the first time in probably 6 years. Back when I was in better shape I could do 5k in under 30 mins no problem 25 seems average and I think I was around that iirc) but now hauling my fat ass I managed to make it in 31:50!

For my first time in 6 years Ill take it tbh. Gonna be running more 5ks and 1ks and 1 miles while recording.

for 1k Im at a best of 4:53 and for 1mile at 8:08. Going to be tracking going forward to see how much I can improve my times!

Gl at 500 man. Great that you started running, its amazing for mood, focus etc. I ran my first marathon last year. if you build up to it its a great experience. It's surprising how fast you can go from 5k to that.
