In this post Im going to highlight my workout schedule and goals!

I've been working out consistently again for the past couple months, but for the past 3 weeks I really upped my workload to 6 days a week. at 5'11" I usually clock in at around 175-180 lbs (79-81 kg). At my peak worst I recently hit 206 lbs (93 kg)

I realized how bad it was getting for me when I tried to go play some pickup hockey over the summer and couldn't last a full hour of skating. My beer league season begins in 3 months so I have time to turn it around and get into compete level shape.

My Current Regime: Monday - Sunday

For cardio I currently run stairs, my absolute favourite cardio technique but I also have a backup cardio workout to help avoid muscle strain

For my Core workout I took an older p90x workout and made my own routine out of it with my favourite stretches

Running Stairs: In each of my workouts I record my best record session and as I break it I bump the old one down, so that I always have a goal to strive for and can also see my accomplishment as I make progress

Core:

Meditation:

I usually meditate at least twice a week for about 5 minutes each, sometimes 10. I use the mindfulness technique, focusing on your breathing and clearing your mind of all thought. I also occasionally try a couple other things, all of which I learned from reading 10% Happier by Dan Harris. If you have any interest in meditation but feel too skeptical or unsure of how to start off then read this book. It's an amazing insight on how to change the way you think and get into something new that you thought you never would . I fell into the common ground of never thinking i'd ever do something as silly as meditating but now I can't get enough of it!

So far, since my peak of 206 lbs, I've dropped about 8 lbs and feel much more comfortable at 198! Still another 20 or so to go and then I'll consider adding weight training to my workout regime.

My last couple days:

Feel like I'm playing pretty solid and variance has gone my way in this sample for sure.

This hand I think is fine but Im unsure if I want to be bluffing riv on this river card. Seems very gross since most of his draws get there and he may struggle to fold some 2p as well. Will have to pio this one later to see river but as played I think I could've gone smaller ott and then have a smaller river pot to bet profitably rather than feeling like I have to overjam here into a somewhat strong range

This is a gross spot for our hand but maybe we should bet/fold flop or turn. Unsure but I think checking down and calling on more favourable rivers would be fine or making a vbet myself if checked to. as played meh, I don't think river is a call.

I PIOed this hand and PIO likes my overall line except that it check/calls river for 62bb. I think this is an optimal output that just doesn't reflect actual gameplay especially at these levels though. I think an unknown reg at this level will be too value heavy so Im happy with an explo x/f otr here.

As you can see Im playing a lot of 100nl FF. Im enjoying it quite a bit and at first I dropped down to reduce variance but now Im just enjoying the added volume and I think when I go back to 200nl I will mix 200 reg tables with 100ff for extra volume and rb. Enjoying party a lot right now and I think Ill stick to it for a bit

Yesterday was not a good day for sure

I feel like I handled it well mentally though and will be able to continue just fine ! I think my game has been nearly my best over the past week or two, save for one issue that I will comment on in hhs below.

There was one highlight of yesterday worth bragging about though. After this hand my biggest win on the session was a 50bb hand so the lack of good varaince def contributed to an exaggerated loss today.

and this is the hand that I want to comment on and publicly shame myself

The problem with this hand is that I nearly snap called river without really even taking time to think about it. I saw a bad rivercard and my new medium strength hand and just called it off and this is a problem Ive had for a long time (but has gotten better). Its basically to deflect having to make a hard decision in a large scenario change. I go from vbetting turn to having to consider folding real fast and my mind doesn't handle it well.

Had I stopped and looked at this spot Id realize that this river card hits his flop x/r range hard and even if he is aware of this enough to balance his vbets with bluffs, he would have to find a lot of unnatural bluffs here. J9s gets there and all his flushes and slow played boats get there, Qx has too much sdv to turn into a bluff and that basically leaves KJs which I block. He would have to turn some low pps he decided to x/r into a bluff. So it would be very hard for my opponent to find a balanced donking range here that would warrant me to call anything less than boats and maybe some straights/Tx. But since thats probably not even the case in most high stakes games unless its vs a very aggro opponent, this is likely 100% a fold against nearly any opponent out there, let alone these nitty ff games where people are very unbalanced in their play.

So the tldr is I made a bad call here and it cost me almost 70bbs. I think we could even consider folding straights otr here with or without spade blockers, and just call off our flushes (lowest ones prob arent even that great ev wise in reality) and how boats.

So true. I realize in certain spots my mind just freaks and I lose all sense of logic and click the call button.

Good catch and it's something we have to pay attention to, be vigilant about.

Needles to say, I ran really good.

Mentally im happy with the level of thought Im putting into my real time decision making. Slowing down and using my full thought process and definitely doing a lot less of this

Yesterday was pretty crazy but mostly just winning/losing flips or getting it in top range vs top range etc. EV line only moved abotu 3-5bi over 3k hands which really isnt that much, but going up 7bi early on I could tell I was on a massive heater and then it just kind of fizzled out haha. I didnt play too well in my last 600 hands but overall I think it was a good day.

Today was a pretty enjoyable day at the tables

I've started a new journal that follows one of my biggest leaks, my fast timing. I tend to act too fast sometimes and don't allow myself to use my full thought process in all my decisions and it causes some big mistakes occasionally.

I realize that this is simply not a skill of mine to concur without holding my own hand through the process. So currently I am setting a timer every 30 minutes to remind myself to re-read a set of injecting logic statements that focus on this issue. Over time Ill up that timer to an hour, two hours, etc until I feel I only need to review this issue during my warmup with the rest of my injecting logic statements. Ill also write journal entries on my progress as I focus on this issue to keep it in the limelight and understand where I'm at in that area over time.

                                                A couple hands from today:

Very nice runout for me. I don't mind villains play as long as he balances this strat with some AJ/AK/JJ/77 of his own but if he has any kind of x/r range hes got too many ranges here. prob better to never x/r and have a bit of a donking range but who knows. Maybe a good pio spot. x/c in his shoes is definitely still fine or x/r a very tight range with some sets,AJ

Thought I'd do a PC setup post!

Since I like to travel a bit and play in different locations, I've built two gaming setups, one stationary setup in Canada and one that I use to travel to Brazil or other places with.

Here is my Canadian setup. Have had to move it around a few times based on where I'm living but for the most part I try to keep it in one location. I built this desktop with 16gb of RAM, a 126gb SSD (+1TB HDD), a decent i5 processor and I skimped a bit on the GFX Card going with the GTX 750TI but so far it's been a great system! 27" and 21" Monitors (BenQ and idk, the 21" is a bit old, from my previous pc setup)

For my travel setup I put a bit more into an MSI gaming laptop with 16gb RAM, 126gb SSD (+1TB HDD), i7 CPU 2.6GHz and a GTX 960M GFX card which is a couple years old (built for laptops specifically) but seems pretty solid. Screen is 15" and then I bought a cheaper Samsung 21" that's easy to move around for the external monitor.

I also have two Razer DeathAdder mice that I use and an Astro A40 gaming headset (gonna upgrade to whatever is coming out after the A50 and get custom painted side plates)

Both of my setups run games fairly well, but generally the only game I play right now is PUBG (battlegrounds) and occasionally CSGO, both of which I generally play on low graphics for higher FPS. Both setups run poker software like PIO fairly quickly which is nice, and ofc no problems with any other poker clients or software on these machines!

If anyone wants to party up in PUBG then give me a shout here or in PM because I'd love to have more people to game with!

Going to be putting some volume back in on Bodog. I did hit my 40k hands and 80 hour monthly goals! Im down about 1k after rb this month on party but Im just not the rb grinder type so I will probably continue to focus on working on my game while playing bodog at 200nl+.

One thing I did take away from the mass grind experience is a better understanding of variance and how to handle it. Over the time I also improved a lot on mental game with Jared Tendler and as I settle back into my normal grind I have a lot more motivation to do so going forward than when I first left bodog a month or two ago. Im not playing as much on Stars since the rb cuts but I do like how soft the games have gotten, and my results have definitely been positive there to a minor extent.

We'll see how things go in October

                                                            Goals remain the same:

                                                            40k hands
                                                            80 Hours played
                                                            Workout 5+ Days a week
                                                            Meditate 2+ Days a week
                                                            Study and Journal alternating days

And overall try to break monthly records in all categories.

Weight Loss has gone very well! I'm now down to 195 lbs, which is a confirmed 11 pound loss in September! Looking for another 10 at least in October to prepare for hockey.

                                                            Update:

The last 2 days I've been focusing so much on my mental game study that I haven't had any time to play so I took a day off and may play later tonight but I've been changing some ways I approach the game. Ive found ways my technical game has suffered due to mental game leaks and by fixing these issues I may be able to really up my EV/winrate long term so it has been clear to me that it's the foremost area for me to work on in my game right now.

Ill get into more details when I feel more complete about it and maybe share a couple screens of the work

Took a couple days break and then put in some decent volume again. Ive lowered my hands per hour from 800 to about 500 but still looking to get 40k+ hands this month!

Ill share some hands and be on my way

I tried to play the 100ff @ party during all july and got totally wrecked there.
Did ran massively under EV but that doesn't take away I still did lose a bunch apart from that and the sample was like 100k hands.

In july it was as you already mentioned full of regs, barely any fishes... Did this change yet ?

Its hard to say on that. Both games are very beatable but I havent played much 100z, I just know the stars games have gotten a lot softer from playing 200z and sweating some 500z. with lower rake Id assume you can get a better winrate at stars than party now. The quality of player is still higher on stars imo (all the weak regs switched to party) but the fish to reg ratio has improved drastically in zoom games. ff is very beatable too but you have to really exploit the player pool for its weaknesses and deal with the swings of a very reggy game with high rake.

Those games will never get more fish because the pool is just too saturated with regs due to the high rb. Its really the only place left to get high rb unless you count ipoker/wpn, both who have way more bots and less traffic/worse rb deals.

Im back to playing 200nl games and putting in some volume at bodog zone again which is paying off pretty quickly vs the soft player pool!

overshove on riv is so tough to play against imo. I think I should be calling some AK here for sure blocking aces and kings and I assume lots of weaker players here will bluff missed draws which there are many without sdv. Think I make a call without clubs in my hand, but pretty tough spot imo

I've caught some good stride with working out and I continue to shed my excess weight in my goal to get back to my normal weight! From 206 lbs looking to hit 170-175 lbs for the start of my hockey season. I'm currently just under 190 lbs in 5 weeks!

Last couple days have been good picking up a couple small wins!

Its been a good week and im just focusing on my grind and study to keep things going in the right direction. Im focusing on 200nl again and looking to make my move to 500nl in the near future.

This one's a beaut. Those minraises are a pain because the call is easy mathematically but you usually miss and have to accept losing that extra money so often. But when paid off it makes it all worth it long term!
