OIOI time to get the bad and dirty out the way and wrap up what was by a very big bmargin my worst year in poker
poker goals for 2019
Quote:
[ ] play 145 sessions (sounds like not much but every session is 11+ hours of high intensity multitabling)
haha man thats shameful to even write but i only played 95 sessions total. hard to describe the level of fail that ended up being
Quote:
[ ] play an abi of $110 over the year (was $78 in 2018)
i ended up cutting the upper end of my ABI towards the end of the year and fully switched to the morning schedule which runs at about 50-60$ abi. despite that my yearly abi was 95 so i gues if the downswing hadnt hit as hard as it did i d have easily managed that. shrugs,
Quote:
[ ] total buyins of >$700k
failed due to both of the above. bit above 400k
Quote:
[ ] 4 verbal reviews every month
i d assume my average over the year was 2.5 with the bulk of that coming from the time from jan to may
Quote:
[ ] go over 30 tagged hands every week (legit only started marking hands two weeks ago and suprise its a great way to study)
probably averaged about7 if i had to guess, again most of this coming from the first third of the year
Quote:
[X] in general dont be too nitty with game selection and play the game s i m supposed to to maximize my ev
haha well i certainly tried but it backfired hard. was a very valuable experience tho and if i went back in time i d probably play every single high stakes game i played this year. NO RAGRETS
Quote:
[ ] play live poker in 2 countries that are not austria (really gotta make an efort to get comfortable playing this going forward)
played in barcelona and thats it. likely woulda had this if i hadnt lost motivation and bankroll

non poker goals for 2019
[ ] get into the best physical shape i ve ever been in (includes indurance)
absolutely hardcore failed this. was on track but the screw removal surgery and many many instances of myself getting sick made it hard to maintain a schedule, lack of poker motivation carried over into all aspects of my life around september october and so i m basically back to where i started last year, maybe a tad behind.
Quote:
[ ] reduce out of house eating further/ increase % of food cooked
quite surprised i failed this actually as i ve put in some serious effort into cooking majority of the meals i eat. i basically spent about the same on out of house food as the yer before and there was a noticeable increase in out of house food in the months i was at my worst. obviously easy goal to hit if i keep checking myself
Quote:
[X] do laundry every week ( i m so bad at this currently)
pretty happy there
Quote:
[ ] make a conscious effort to not waste time, ther always is somehting productive to do.
lold reading this.
so ya. 2019 i was at my aboslute nut lowest point multiple times and it took its toll. every aspect of my life ended up suffering and i can pretty obviously pinpoint where i went wrong and what i could do to avoid a repeat of such behaviour going forward. the good news is that despite all that i have found a balance since early december, have been doing much bettter in most aspects of life and have been consistently hitting my goals, likely at least in party to reviving this thread and writing said goals down and sharing the journey. so thanks to everybody and anybody who had any type of feedback to share after any of my posts, and here s to a much better 2020. i ll prob keep this thread up be the latest casualty of yearly threads and succumb to the peer pressure of endlessthreads a la gazzy and bena.
as i (once again) am feeling sick i ll have all day tomorrow to write up a year start post and some goals for the week. thanks for coming along on this journey and best of luck in all areas of life to all of you
