Hi everyone,

I'm 19 years old, a maths student currently studying second year at University of Birmingham doing straight maths. I pretty much spend all my time hanging out with live and online grinders going out to each pretty much every day as a student(got to admit its pretty nice) and not much studying at all if any .

I regularly play in most live 1/2 cash games around Birmingham and some at Dusk till Dawn when i'm living at home (in Nottingham). When I play online I primarily play MTTs and have a decent sample of spin n gos however variance has recently hit me in all aspects of online poker and some of my spending has caught up to me. I am still decently bankrolled due to better brm since I went broke this time last year in April. Luckily I was only a first year student and an overdraft got me out of it "phew". However I believe if I am to get better as a poker player I need to limit what I play. Too many days of playing big Sundays on my own bankroll and 60$ spin n go shots have finally caught up to me.

The main reason for the blog is to keep myself honest to bankroll management. The days of regging 82 hypers flicking in 1.5k sundays are over; well at least for now. I will try to limit myself to 55$ reg tournaments on 888 poker aswell as playing 50nl and 100nl snap poker (their version of zoom poker) to further my ability. On stars I will do similar and hopefully cut out some tougher tournaments such as the 54kos and limit myself to softer online tournaments where I am actually making money in ev rather than luckboxing one in a bowl sample size.

I also have a goal for online 6-max cash games. I am hoping to bring myself to put some real hours in and play some more 6-max 50nl and 100nl on 888 and 25nl and 50nl zoom on pokerstars. I am not expecting to make much money at all at cash, but I believe to further my skills as a overall poker player, playing a decent sample of cashgame hands is definately the way forward.

This post overall is very general for now however I will try to keep my progress updated regularly.

I lost some previous sample sizes(about 3k) where I won a little however here is a big bulk of the volume. I am currently downswinging around 4k$ on these at the 30$ level due to variance which as u can imagine is huge in these games.

As u can see in 100nl snap poker I am running rediculously above ev I started off playing solid but spewed a lot of ev but didnt matter cus I was golden . My sample size is bowl but I will be working hard to improve on this.

Recap of the week:
Overall this week went good apart from the fact I was extremely lazy and put no hours into online (doh). However I put in 7 good long sessions of 1/2 where i ended, +45, -690, +280, +645, +667.5,+240,-100 which is about 1.1k up which is a solid week. The sessions totaled 30 hours so I kind of made up for not playing online.


This weekend I decided to flick into the £110 200k gtd donkament at DTD. Never again will I do this. The structure was extremely terrible with average stacks being 15-25bb throughout day 2. I ended up being in for 2 bullets and cashed for £400 coming 96/2350 which was a big waste of time. Oh well onto the £1k UKPC £1mil gtd at DTD next week .

Note to self: PLAY MORE ONLINE NEXT WEEK

Well these last few days have been extremely eventful. I managed to ship a 5 2r1a for 2k and an 11 reg for 1.4k on tuesday. This was a big step for me in online mtts as it was the first session where I grinded a full 12 hours of MTTs starting from the morning. One key factor in this was grinding round another already acomplished MTT player's house, thus helped my mindset as I usually grind in my student house with people walking in and out every so often. Furthermore I learnt a lot of tips and tricks to make my life easier as I play e.g. colour coding tables, game selection, tips and a bit of help on the side.
After this day I was extremely excited for future online grinds.

2 days later...

Bam, 13th in the big 55 and 8th in another 8.8$ bowl. Lost a flip in the b55 and ak vs a8 in the 8.8 no biggie but feels good to run deep two sessions in a row .

Well last week I played 4 live sessions where I lost a few hundred overall. I was a bit rusty after playing online for a bit, but it went alright nothing much special.

As for online I played 2 sessions losing 500$ in total. Came 4th in a small field 55$ turbo where I lost qq vs 77 pre...i know boring.. next hand as one would say.

One thing i'm very excited for in the coming weeks is my response to a potential online staking deal where I could get some free vital coaching from supernova elites as part of a deal .
