oof, idc if it's the softest lineup ever going at 5/10 5c plo right now, that is just super not smart.

That was much earlier in the day with a Brazilian fun player.

Regarding the screenshots, I meant the first poster. Don't get me wrong but I'd rather the money go to charity or something. Anyway, was a misunderstanding so I'll send the two recent posters $25 each if you PM me your screennames.

Went to play live tonight so I could watch the boxing, it was unsurprisingly excruciating.

Will do a proper end of month update on the 1st of March.

Ok you can donate my cut to charity. There is a book called "8 minute meditation" that I think you would find useful

Kind of you. Is there any particular charity you would choose or just leave it up to me?

Card0, i've sent you $25.

Funnily enough I bought that book on amazon on Thursday, hoping it'll arrive Tues and looking forward to getting into it.

So far today I have bricked the Warm Up and Million and it's not 9:30 yet, wp me.

Bigger update tomorrow.

Month Recap

In what was arguably the strangest, probably most frightening and most eye opening months of my life I'd say I've got to the end of it with life really not so bad. My health is better, taking the pills daily have made life a lot easier day to day and thusly my focus has been great in regards to poker.

Poker itself has gone well on the whole this month. Well, actually I mean I went full busto, had to grind 14k hands micro's and then have kicked on, so saying it went well is perhaps as loose as my CO range .

Graphs

Graph for $1/2z. Kinda makes me sad. At one point was looking very solid and very steady and then I feel I've played poorly there for the last week of the month.

Graph for $2/5z. Happier here. Felt mid month that I was maybe getting outclassed but after going through my DB I feel that I've been running so bad in 4b pots. Had some really EV killers vs fun players too. Played pretty good for the last 2 weeks this month and was happy to get the graph and ev line going back in a better direction.

I think reflectively my play in both zoom pools is definitely too spewy on occasions. I think I'm getting much better though at noticing this and quitting those sessions.

I ended up winning $10k at 5card games this month on the side and lost $480 in tournaments. So all in all was a decent month $ wise.

I usually don't mind writing some strat but I've noticed through playing that a lot of regs are reading this blog now, through stuff people have typed to me in chat etc so I don't think I'll be going into much strat wise re: hands that I post.

Also I find it hilariously how emotional poker players are in 2016, I'm certainly guilty of being too emotional also. I'm usually trolling in chatbox and most know that, I like conversing with regs like Kelnel and TeddyWong as I feel they have a similar approach in being light hearted. Yesterday me and NeverFoldYou (scummy long term bum hunter, plays high, sits lobbies) started some HU 5card games. He obviously thinks I'm value so should be happy for the action. He was up like 4 buy ins on me and then I came back, won a bit cooler vs him and ended up like 1 buy in. He snaps sits out and types 'well done on the cooler, mbn' and game over. Just a pathetic response from a long term player.

Live Poker

I managed to put in a whopping 27 hours of live poker this month. Obviously a ton of that was health related but a lot of it is also just a lack of wanting to. I went in on Saturday night and played £2/5, thinking that the game would be good because of the Frampton/Quigg fight. Sat totally bored for 5 hours, lost a 60/40 twice for £3k and ended up losing £1k. Live poker just feels so totally pointless when you're putting in high volume online. The lacks of hands, the shear amount of sitting hours you have to put on the body. Just not a lot of positive things to say about live poker lately.

Anyway on the bright side I was +£1.5k across those 27 hours so was nice to book a small winning month off the virtual felt also.

Health and Lifestyle

So this month was comfortably the worst of my life in regards to health. I was in and out of my GP's office four times and had to go in and out of hospital twice. It's safe to say I don't want another month like this for a long time. The pills that I've been prescribed have definitely been helping, they kill nearly all of the worst physical symptoms and thusly make me feel far more relaxed.

I think I still struggle to find proper relaxation time. This undoubtedly is the area that I'm going to improve on most in this next month. I've purchased some stuff, like 8 minute meditation (thanks Ben86...gtttooo) and I've been practicing some gentle meditation and some sleep meditation.

Gym wise I worked out 4 times last week with a mixture of weights and jogging. These new pills I'm on lower my heart rate a lot so it'll be interesting to see how that effects my work out performance.

I also think that my confidence levels with regards to going out, drinking, socialising are extremely low. I spent way too much time in the flat this month. Dodging drinking and nights out through fear of having an 'episode' on a night out and not wanting to do so in front of friends etc. I think to be rounded and happy this is something I need to get on top of really fast and this month I'll be aiming to do so.

Ok, that's a lot for people to wade through. Happy grinding y'all.

March So Far..

Basically I've spent the majority of my March playing live poker. The Unibet open was in town this week, at the Vic. I love it when these little festivals are in town as the games are WAY, WAY better and in general it's just cooler as there are a bunch of new faces in the games, random euro's etc, people drinking whilst playing, having a good time. The card room just feels so much more alive and grinding there isn't as life sapping.

I think I ended this live week roughly +£5k. Majority of my week has been at £2/5 PLO and the games have been excellent. Felt like it was going to be a big week but I lost £4k in a £5/10/25 on Wednesday night where it was just a field of dreams, so I sold a bunch of action and had a mini shot. I felt I played ok but then made a 'live error' taking a line that was probably too high variance pre considering the field and ended up running into a big hand to get stacked. Will probably head in to play live again tonight as it's the last day of this Unibet Tournament Series, hoping the games will be good again.

In between that I haven't played much online at all. I battled some 5card games in some reasonably questionable line ups last weekend and I played a mixture of some zoom throughout the week but never really got going. Playing live is so time sapping and consuming that it's impossible to play some online too imo, if you want to do some other non poker things throughout the week anyway.

Just to make sure that the bad weeks get the graphs as well as the good weeks

Health and Lifestyle

This week was a good one in terms of my health. The beta blockers im on seem to be doing good in terms of taking the edge off and I feel more at ease in nearly all situations. I've been out boozing again, round at a London poker players house and I went to a art exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in the day time on Saturday and felt fine and comfortable; A few weeks a go going to something like this would have been impossible so it's a marked improvement.

I think someone mentioned the book in this thread and I remember Ben86 mentioning it in his podcast but I bought the book 8 minute Meditation by Victor Davich and have been starting with it this week. Meditation does feel pretty strange when you first start but I feel that after just 4 days I'm feeling the benefits a bit. I look forward to continuing it and getting deeper into it, I think someone who has practiced meditation for years would be so relaxed in their mind it must be a real joy.

Other than that I've been really loving the Premier league football lately. I'm a United fan and obviously have been loving our resurgence in recent weeks. The title race is really fascinating, can't believe how the big teams are bottling it and it's looking increasingly likely that Leicester will actually do it. If so, that's got to be one of the biggest turn arounds/stories in the history of sport. A true zero to hero story.

HEALTH

Calling out for a little help from the 2p2 as so far people have been great with this stuff both in the PG&C and in my PM's.

So I started the year at roughly 80kg. I think I was probably about right/average for my height 6ft1inch. I might have even been a little heavy set.

Obviously when my health was in decline over the past 6 weeks or so I started to lose my appetite and ate a lot less. My weight dropped significantly, albeit I never actually weighed myself. Just jeans were loser, tops fitted better or in some cases became kind of oversize, it was very evident.

Recently as I've been getting better I've been eating a lot more and I had been doing weight training, just dumbbell stuff, so I figured I'd be a lot closer to my start of year weight. Today I weighed myself on some scales and I was 65.3kg :O. I can't help but feel this is way, way too lower for someone of my height and build.

I'm going to monitor it over the next fortnight and see what happens but if anyone could throw in meal suggestions or food plans that are specifically designed to increase weight it'd be much appreciated. If they're helpful I will over a 20% freeroll of the Stars Sunday $10m.

Thanks,

AconcernedBigA.

I don´t have any concrete meal suggestions for you but can offer a few general suggestions in order to increase your weight:

-track your caloric intake for a week and aim to increase your intake by ~500-750 calories per day afterwards
-avoid junk food (even if it is tempting because of the obvious implications for your weight) or at least only eat it moderately
-add a few small meals between your regular meals (fruits, nuts, vegetables or any other snack you can think of)
-try to add healthy side dishes to your meals and therefore increase your caloric intake without having to think of completely new recipes
-try to drink some fruit juices instead of water

If I remember any additional suggestions I will post again.

Some additional resources:
http://livehealthy.chron.com/highcal...ople-3750.html
http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Goodfood/...ghtadults.aspx
http://www.healthy-cooking.info/gain.htm

The last link is actually for parents with underweight children, but a few of the suggestions can also be applied to your situation

I wish you all the best for the future and I´m sure you will make it out of this situation and be back at the high stakes one day.

edit: try to drink one "nutritional drink" every other day ... that´s an easy way to increase your intake by ~300 calories

I can't really make recommendations for your diet since everyone's body is different but I do suggest picking a diet and sticking to it. Track everything because what gets measured, gets managed.

I do recommend however, Intermittent Fasting. It's simple really, you fast for 16 hours and have an 8 hour window to eat. It's actually not that tough, if you stop eating at 8pm, you're only skipping breakfast and can get right back to eating by 12pm. There are many benefits following IF, most importantly giving your stomach a break from constantly having to digest food. It also helps with mental clarity as your stomach and brain are intimately connected.

Anyway, good luck with your diet and let me know if you have any questions.
03-07-2016 , 07:53 PM
Isn't intermittent fasting for when you want to lose weight? He wants to put it back on
03-07-2016 , 08:06 PM
It's not as long as you hit all your macros. It makes losing weight easier since you're eating time is smaller but it's not directly correlated with losing weight.
03-08-2016 , 01:39 AM
I recommend going to a nutricionist or a specialist, srsly.
Its like learning a new game, why would u do things on the hardway when u can get profesional help?

Gl
03-08-2016 , 02:07 AM
nutritionists are just going to tell him to eat more proteins, snack on stuff like cheese or yogurt, eat healthy for meals, some meat and safe starches like rice or white potatoes and veggies obviously

calorie dense fruits would be bananas or avocados, nuts are pretty healthy and calorie dense but should be eaten in moderation

also from what my nutritionist had told me at the hospital if I wanted to gain weight was that the amount of protein you need would be 1.5x your weight in Kg, so around 100g of proteins a day along with a balanced healthy diet should do the trick
03-08-2016 , 06:02 AM
I suggest committing to a resistance based training routine for about 1 month, then building up to regular free weights lifted 3-4 times per week.

This will be good for mind, body, and soul, and will benefit your pokering on top.

in. good luck man, i enjoy the threads

Sorry for lack of updates. I've been grinding some monster live sessions recently and they're simply too time consuming to dedicate any other time to poker outside of the sessions themselves.

I will update on Monday with some interesting news including a potential spot on the Run It Once coaching roster.

In the meantime, I posted a hand in HSPLO earlier today:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/15...-hand-1595760/

Figured reposting it here might improve the chance of actual discussion on the hand as opposed to the 90% trolling that usually comes with hands posted in HSPLO nowadays.

Hope all are well.

Hey mate. Didn't realise you'd started another PG&C. Both happy and sad to see your reasons for starting one but I'm genuinely rooting for you. Wishing you all the best and maybe catch you at some live events this year - I'm likely gunna play the ukipt next month.
03-13-2016 , 10:00 PM
Why are you playing so big? you should prioritise your health more... a complete break from break would do a lot of good
03-14-2016 , 08:41 AM
Update

So this month I've primarily been playing live poker again with the games being exceptionally good. I'm up £13k or so and probably down £4k online so the month to date isn't so bad. Some have mentioned me playing too high again but for the live high stuff im on a backing deal. Online lately I've sporadically played 1/2euro on ipoker a bit and played $1/2z on stars for 2k hands or so.

Unexpected offer?

Earlier in the week I got an email off Mikey Stotz with what seemed to be a potential offer to join the Run It Once Coaching Roster. Given that I'm not very good I found that pretty funny, perhaps they want to add some live poker coaching who knows. Also I think it goes without saying that some 'Essential' coaches on there aren't great so perhaps the bar isn't set very high. I'll likely follow it up however out of interest and as a friend told me; anything I can squeeze potentially onto a CV now to help post poker certainly won't hurt.

Hands

I don't have any interesting online hands recently, I have been kind of dropping on some short periods and auto piloting in the spells where I've played.

I recently posted a hand from the big game here in London on Friday night, I don't want to post results yet as I feel the thread is potentially on the cusp of some discussion rather than people putting 'lol, you obviously do xyz without having any reasoning to back it up'.

Health

I posted recently some worrying figures about my weight. Since then I've been eating pretty heartily and have been putting some weight back on. I've been doing a bunch of free weights too at home and my body/shape seems a lot stronger and better.

The pills I was on, albeit just beta blockers, I felt they were making me feel a little groggy and strange so I've halved my dosage in an attempt to ween off them completely.
