Hi

Made a few gambley threads in the past, none have gone particularly well.
Another chance please

Aim of this thread is just to beat all levels of plo zoom, I'll post hands and graphs, going to try and be quite studious.

Will be adding wages probably averaging about £500 a month to my balance because I'd like to move up the stakes quickly and hopefully rake is less of an issue.

With the bankroll management I'm just going to do move up when I have 50 buy-ins for the next level and move down when I have 50 buy-ins for the level below. (I'll put limits on my account just in case) and won't play other sites, just try and beat every level.

Hopefully sticking to around 3 hours a day, maybe 6 at the weekend.

One question would be what kind of studying/software would I need to be able to beat mid-stakes eventually?

Don't think there is much else to say then, just need to actually do it.

So today I played a session and didn't end up tagging any hands, might as well update after every day anyway with a couple of graphs that will hopefully turn into decent looking graphs one day. The PLO2 zoom is the nittiest stake of PLO I've ever played.

Not sure you can take anything from the red and blue lines yet, I can't

Instead of slow playing on the flop, wondering if I should get it all in there, after that not sure when I'm supposed to fold now on the turn, river or not at all.

                  GL GL!

That first hand in your first post I probably jam turn with top two and the NFD. You had another hand where you thought you may have overplayed AA on 945 two tone. It's a 4bet pot pre. That board really only hits villain's mid rundowns. Either way with an SPR of 2 it's fine to get it in.

When I made the switch to PLO I got a one month subscription to JNandez's site. PLO Mastermind I believe it's called. It was well worth the $100. Helped me understand a lot of the basic concepts for PLO in general. If you have the money to spare that's not a bad route. But there's plenty of free content on YouTube as well.

hey Strappz, cheers for the hand advice, think I agree with the jamming turn it would seem pretty bad to have to fold on rivers in that hand as well after we have put so much in with a good hand.
with the AA just seems like I was never going to improve on turn and river but as you say due to the size of the pot maybe I just have to get the chips in and hope to hold.

Just looked at JNandez's site for the first time, does look very good, will probably wait to pay for training until I find myself not being able to beat a level. I've watched a few (Kyberri I think his name was) videos and they seemed alright for some basics and yeah I'll try and find some more, I also quite like watching twitch but haven't really found any good PLO ones yet.

thanks for the advice and GL Strappz

I think the obvious mistake here is betting the flop when you had the chance to take a free card. It's a two tone board which means there's a chance not all of your straight cards are live. If you check you're giving yourself a chance to either make your straight or pick up additional equity with the backdoor flush draw. Basically there are a ton of turn cards that shifts equity in your favor so being forced out of the pot on the flop is a pretty big mistake IMO. The other factor to consider is if one of your opponents has a similar hand with hearts they could be freerolling you so I don't know that betting and building the pot in this spot is such a great idea.

thanks Strappz, nicely summarised think that is how I should have been thinking, couldn't really put it into words so well just knew I didn't like folding there and played bad.

played a few more hundred hands today and these are the hands that I tagged

I guess he's got a flush here, I find these boards hard to play

and this hand feels pretty spewwy, I was trying to get all in with the big blind and mp and not the big stack which went wrong. Don't really think that is the right way to be thinking about a hand though.

That's a really good question. I'm not sure how to play spots like this. It seems like if money goes in you're either splitting, being freerolled or facing hands with a ton of equity. That reminds me of a three way hand I played the other day where we got all-in, I had the immediate best hand but I only had 11% equity. I had an overpair on a raggy board vs two short stacks with an SPR of 1 so I just put it in.

I believe it’s a pretty standard XC spot OTF. Cant expect them to ever fold a flush, and not blocking any flushes it is more likely they have a flush, but our hand is too strong to fold and can still improve. So i like calling and reevaluating on turns.

Being 200bbs deep, i dont think you want to overplay your naked nut straight OTF on such a dynamic board for the reasons you already mentioned. Overall i like the way you played your hand.

                                Aq74:
Firstly, holding 3 cards to the suit, this makes it a very marginal call pre, and given the high rake At micros I’d probably prefer playing a tigher strategy preflop and just muck this hand pre. Postflop, when we have the nfd, generally we don’t want to be raising as often just to keep in weaker flush draws to get more value from them on future streets. Furthermore, holding 3 to the suit, it makes it less likely we hit the flush, in addition, you are facing a lot of action here vs a mindonk then raise, but still getting odds to call. Facing this action, it’s highly likely someone else has a flush draw (you’ll hit less often), and that someone has a strong value hand (sets/2p), and facing this action it is highly unlikely you’ll garner enough fold equity OTF to take the pot down. So i rather start with a call OTF and see how things develop.

That's a really good point about stack sizes. The SPR is around 20 and he has no backup to to improve his hand.

                                hi xptboy

then on the turn in the AA hand could I fold I wonder

thanks for the AQ74 hand I made a hash of it, for whatever reason I always seem to be overplaying the nut flush draw when really I need the nut flush draw and something to go with it to be getting too excited. Going forward in these kind of spots I'll try to be more cautious and thanks for explaining the reasoning behind it

Today I ended up playing another 500 or so hands and didn't actually tag any which is good as usually I tag the hands that really confuse me, so it's good I wasn't finding myself in too hard spots although there will still be plenty of room to improve.

Noticed that the other day I posted two hands in a row where I held 49QJ, different suits but still, wonder what the chances of that would be

                                anyway here is the graph

thanks Strappz, yeah the graph for September with like one day of August from when I started this thread, have had break even and run good but no real run bad yet though.

played another 500 hands today and I tagged some hands which were pretty interesting but when I'm trying to convert them it says hand conversion failed due to it being a site or stake that is not supported when it is plo2 zoom on pokerstars, hopefully 2p2 is just playing up and it will be working tomorrow.

so no hands today and here is my graph

Played a few more hands, here are the hands from the other day that I couldn't post as I didn't tag any today.

guess he just has to have the straight here?

thanks, guess I can't stand a raise on this flop and makes the turn difficult for me too.

Hand 1, I get what you're doing with the flop raise holding the nut flush blocker but players at these stakes don't fold flushes. I would need a pretty solid read to go for it. Not only that but you have position so I might call flop and take a stab on the turn if he checks it but shut down to resistance.

                                Hand 2, I like a turn check/raise.

Hand 3, I think a check/call on that flop texture makes the most sense.

nice way of playing hand 1, think that calling and taking a stab on the flop gives me more room for manoeuvre, also I'm not very deep either

with hand 3 it was such a small raise as well so probably shouldn't have folded

So today I did the usual 500 hands and here are the hands I tagged

here is probably a bad fold

                                Pre-Flop: ($0.03) Hero is CO with A 7 Q A
UTG raises to $0.06, MP calls $0.06, Hero 3-bets to $0.27, 3 players fold, UTG calls $0.21, MP calls $0.21

                                Flop: ($0.84) T 4 9 (3 players)
UTG checks, MP bets $0.81, CO (Hero) folds, UTG folds

and this hand I tagged, think it was more to do with the maths around calling preflop when he 4bets, I have to call $0.36 to make the pot $1.08 so I only really need my hand to have about 38% equity for it to be a good call I think at that exact moment of the hand.

So it seems like a good call of the 4bet preflop I guess.

Hand 1: I like calling vs a donk bet 3 way. You're hand isn't terribly strong so there's no reason to raise. You're blocking all of his straight draws so he probably has at worst a strong flush draw but still have some nut outs and the backdoor flush draw. If he has 2 pair you have an overpair which is great. Lots going on but you should have enough equity against most of his range to peel. On the turn you can't raise and then fold.

Hand 2: I like the flop bet and sizing. It keeps lower flush draws and weaker kings in which you have crushed. A random 6 is all you're really worried about. Not sure on the turn but once he shoves it's a clear call.

Hand 3: I think it's fine, not sure though.
