Hello I am a beginner playing for about 2 months for real $$$. I play poker for fun but also play to win. I played freerolls for a month but it was a waste of time so I made a deposit of $45. I will be playing 6-max NLHE on BetOnline. Here is my graph after 1 month (doesn't include 10-max which I played a bit of).

Bankroll:
63.14

I didn't play many hands because I was playing 2 tables a lot of the time so I didn't get much volume. One of my goals will be to increase volume from here out. Keep in mind my goals will be modest because I work full time and have other things going on.

Poker Goals
1. 5K+ hands/week
2. Increase to 10bb/100 before moving up (currently 6.5bb/100)
3. Bankroll for 10nl ($200?)

Goals will be updated as time goes on. Currently need to work on endurance in game (I get tired and start going through motions after about an hour). Also need to limit big mistakes like calling down too light and losing stacks (noobs in 2nl don't bluff).

Purpose of this thread is mainly accountability. I will be posting a graph every Monday. Also if anyone has any advice that would be welcome. One question I have is how many buy-ins for 10nl? I have looked at some of the tables and they look very soft and I know I can easily beat them. Unfortunately there is nothing between 2nl and 10nl at BOL so I know I will be getting bored of 2nl.

Just finished up for this week. Was profitable each day and was 14bb/100 for week. Players are so bad at 2nl lol. Here is my graph for this week.

Bankroll:
93.70

Mirin' red line? So many tight passive/TAG (bots?) players just kept taking advantage and barely anyone was adjusting.
I played 3 hr sessions after work and it worked out well I think I made maybe 1-2 mistakes all week. And I'm doing 6 tables now no problem.

I think I will take a ~2 buy in shot at 10nl when I reach $150.

Also a week ago I ordered Jonathan Little's new book Strategies for Beating Small Stakes Cash Games. I ordered it on Kindle and have been reading it at work when I have time. It is centered around 1/2nl live but i feel it is great for micros online too. It is based around the different player types and how to beat them. Good for the basics IMO.

Anyway until next week..

Good luck OP. Looks like you're beating 2 NL (obviously ) but I would relook at hands to see where you could increase your win rate. I can promise you there's more than 1-2 mistakes made, looking at things like this will help your transition into the higher stakes much more comfortable.

I suggest taking a shot at 5NL before you go hammer in on 10NL

You could be right although my opponents are very easy.. not too hard to avoid mistakes. I do write down hands as I am going that I am unsure about and review them in-depth.

Hey,

I'm kinda trying the same right now and I am constantly winning (but very slowly). How many tables to you play?

Getting 10bb/100 is gonna be extremely tough to do. I like to have around 40 buyins for online. What u could do is take a shot at 10nl around 100$-120$ that way if u lose u can always drop back down to 2nl @ 40-50 buyins. It might be a bit excessive though, how many tables do u play and do u have the option to reload if needed?

6 tables currently at 2nl. Will probably go down to 2-4 at first when I go to 10nl.

I think 10bb/100 in 2nl is doable. And I have been scouting out 10nl games they look soft so I know 20 buyins should be enough. I'm not going to reload. No way I am going to go busto though.

I finished up this week with only about 4.5k hands. Had a busy work week and wasn't too focused when playing during week. Also the tables have all been full and it takes about an hr just to get sat down at 6 tables. There is some hand race promo going on where you get points for getting full house or better. I think this is why my red line has been so good. People are just sitting at all the 2nl tables trying for the promo.

I want to get to 10nl asap but need a bigger bankroll. Going to keep grinding 2nl for now, don't feel comfortable taking any shots with only 12ish buy-ins.

Well, the games were more reggy this week and I had some sessions where I didn't play so well. It looks like 5 tables is my sweet spot for playing my best and getting decent volume at 350-400 hands/hr.

123.50

If you wanna take a shot at 10NL get your BR to $150 than take a 5 buyin shot...if you go down to $100 regrind it up

Yup, that is exactly my plan.

I reached my goal of bankroll for 10nl. Here is my final graph for all of my 2nl 6-max games.

Bankroll:
154.65

I finished at 9.50bb/100 which almost met my goal.

Tonight I will be starting my shot at 10nl. If I go below 100 dollars I will drop back to 2nl. I am confident I can beat 10nl so I don't think this will happen. It is only a 5.5 BI shot though..

I will update either tomorrow or Monday with new goals for 10nl. For now I will be playing low volume at 10nl checking out the regs, etc.

Continuing the theme of weekly graphs ... just my first couple sessions of 10nl last night

Bankroll:
176.47

I played 2 tables focusing on every hand, even ones I wasn't in. Taking notes on the reggy seeming players. Overall the players seem to be so much more competent than 2nl. One thing I noticed is a lot of squeezes, many more than I did at 2nl. I'll have to make some changes to my HUD adding some stats like squeeze%.

I also noticed I play so much more optimally with less tables. But I am also noticing some leaks I have at the same time.

Soooo I deciding not to set any new goals yet. I want to keep playing small amounts of tables and trying to improve my game as much as I can. I will be reviewing my hands a lot more and maybe posting some hands in the micro stakes NLHE forum.

By the way I finished Jonathan Little's new book, small stakes poker cash games. There is an especially good section about different player types and how to attack their leaks. I will be going back and reading that a few times.

Anyone have any suggestions for more advanced books? I know I need improvements on my turn/river play right now. Also bet sizing. Most basic books don't go much into that.

I played about 3k hands this week. Mostly from 4 tabling this weekend.

Bankroll:
195.15

Unfortunately the 10nl games run at inconvenient times so I'll probably be getting most of my volume during the weekends.

I've been making some somewhat drastic changes to my game and I need to re-evaluate some stuff. Going to spend the rest of the afternoon looking at some hands and doing some theory study. No doubt I can beat these games but as I notice more and more leaks I want to fix them and maximize my win-rate.

Another 3.5k hands this week.

Bankroll
278.10

Not going to play much poker this week. I have an exam my work is paying for that I need to cram for. I'll definitely play some hands though so I don't get rusty.

In the future I should be able to get better volume. Not gonna spend as much time studying theory and I'll probably bump up to 6 tables pretty soon.
