My goal:
Current bankroll : $34.59
Initial deposit: $100.00
Peak bankroll: $142 (about a month ago)
Background:I have been playing poker for about a year now, started out just because it seemed interesting and played like a donk for a while making $20 and $30 and other small deposits on stars, carbon etc. Got some confidence after running up my $80 bankroll to $150 in a few hours playing 0.10/0.25 with ****ty bankroll management. Lost it all and realized there is more to the game. Started getting really intrigued with the game
and developed an urge to be a better player and start dominating the micros. I stared browsing forums etc. to gain tips on how to be a better cash game player. I also read a few books and watched some videos, namely Ed miller and Sunny Mehta's small stakes hold em book.
I continue to read these books to completely understand all the concepts that they talk about.
Situation: I am currently a losing player (obv) but I have the time and effort required to become commited to beating cash games. My losses come from tilting (gambling off buy ins making dumb calls after I have made some money, just to see myself beat) and also playing when
my mindset is not right. I know I can be a winning player because I have had numerous winning sessions but my mistakes are preventing any growth from happening. Btw, I do apply everything i learn from books, videos, 2 + 2 etc. but I still need to hone my skills and see a visible
growth in my play and profit so that I know whether poker could be viable for me in the future. I also get over confident after beating some players and having a good run for a week or two and start making stupid moves that crush my bankroll
I want to work on that and tell myself that i am not nearly as good as I think I am so I just work to be a better player, without concentrating on how good I am based on my money swings.
The Plan: Play some 0.02/0.05 cash games for the next two weeks. (It sucks playing so low but I want to build my bankroll so I dont squander away my winnings, learn discipline etc.). I dont know how much time I am going to be able to put into this but I want to play around 2k hands a day.
I will be 3-tabling. I am a college student goin into my senior year and I have two weeks off for summer after summer school. I am at home however and I dont think my parents want to see me playing real money poker so I will be playing whenever I can get a few hours to myself. Thus, the hands played
daily might vary a lot. I also wanted to know whether I should be playing some HU sng's mixed in with my cash games. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Theory plan: Do atleast 1-2 hrs a day of reading/learning which includes the small stakes book, watching videos and posting hands on 2 +2 and reading others' posts.
Goal: To cross the $100 landmark within a month (calculating: approx 2k hands/30 days = 60k hands) playing 0.02/0.05 blinds and whatever else I mix in. Today is august 7th, so I'm giving myself till Sep 7th. My school does start up 2 weeks, so my commitment might change, I definitely want to continue playing and manage my time b/w school, extracurriculars and poker
Moving on up: I want to move up to 0.05/0.10 and beat it succesfully for a few months atleast before I move to .10/0.25 and really see if poker can be a source of lucrative income for me.
I think $150 would be a good time to move up to 0.05/0.10. And then depending on how I play at 0.05/0.10 this time around, I will set an amount to move up in limits. I know the buy-ins required per limit are short,
but i do have experience at 10NL and 25 NL so I will be trying to move up slightly quicker, though not at the expense of my play.
Any other tips, suggestions advice you veterans have is appreciated
Ok, Here we go
wish me luck
