what's up guys? I decided to open an account to
track my results, have a poker diary, connect with fellow grinders, motivate me to grind and everything else we do while spending hours and hours in these forums. I want to switch sides from being passive in these forums.

Maybe some info about me. I am an older guy, considering all those youngguns, playing poker on and off for ten years. I have started out with NL holdem and ground up at least 10 4 digit rolls only to tilt them off in steaming sessions etc. Overall I would say that i'm down 5-7 k in my life time. I was only able to withdraw money from a poker site twice in my life At least i was/am contributing to the poker ecosystem and environment....
I found PLO maybe 3 years ago and jumped into theory and simulations maybe .5 years ago. Starting out with PLO from scratch, which can be found somewhere in these forums.
I have a regular job, so scared money and tight brm is not a huge problem. Over the course of last month i deposited 8x50$ and 2x100$ just to dump it. I consider it as a hobby. instead of having a night out with dinner or something i load up 50 to 100 bucks and play .5 or 1 Plo. So after depositing 100 three days ago for a total of 600$ recently, i find myself at sitting on 563$ whoooooo. Only down 50 bucks including conversion fee. My plan is to keep myself from playing higher games than PLO 50. 10 BI is not considered proper BRM. But i don't need it tbh. should i go bust, i simply reload some moneyz, hopefully not in the near future. I will post 3 hands and am open for insight. I wish a long lasting thread and good fun.
Good luck at the tables.
Cheers Jeremy

As promised the other two hands.
Hand 1: effective stacks are 200 BB

Hero is Dealer with K677
it is folded to me and i bet 1.5
BB raises to 4.75
Hero calls

Flop: 7JJ
BB bets 6.06
Hero raises to 22.46
BB calls

Turn: A
BB checks
Hero checks

River: J
BB bets 27.33
Hero folds

I would not fold this hand, but OP was a super tight player. He never defended unless he woke up with a premium hand. His range was pretty polarized to me consisting mainly of AAxx and premium rundowns with xJxx. I think I am beat otr. Any thoughts?

H4:
5 players
Hero is SB with A8T6
HJ raises to 1.75
Hero calls
Flop: 9K5
Hero bets 2.22
OP calls

Turn: J
Hero bets 4.78
OP calls

River: 9
Hero checks
OP bets 13.5

I know that I am beat here, but still make the crying call to confirm

Same OP as in the hand before.

OP shows 9KK4

The weekend is ahead of us. I plan to play a couple of hours. Taking Monday and Tuesday of to write on my Thesis. Hopefully i can rake in some hours....
Good luck people :-)

H1: As described, think that is a pretty easy fold and well played overall.

H2: Almost always beat by a competent player on that river, but no way I'm folding either.

Goodluck

i had a shortish session and lost about tree stacks. only one all-in where i los a 100BB pot.
Luckily, my bankroll was at $590ish before. down to 420. This is where I see the dangers of my nonexistent BRM. two more sessions like this and I am gone.... I'll take today off to deal with some real life stuff. Hope your poker weekend is better

What's up guys? I lost three stacks again.
In the first I got it in versus an aggro guy with his bare oesd against my top two with blockers against his straight plus fd. meeeh but that's the game.
The second hand was a misplay by me.
op raises to 1 from D
I three bet to 3
he re-raises to 9
this seems like the standard " I have AAxx" to me.
I call with 9AKTds.
Flop come 9 high rainbow, somehow i see myself gii on the flop and loose to a rivered two pair. I don't like this high variance play by me with this kind of short bankroll. dropping down to 25 maybe. I know myself and am stupid... Bankroll at 310 ish. descend to 0 has already started :-/

Cheers guys

What´s up guys?
Thanks to being at the positive side of PLO variance, I could recover my aforementioned losses and I am back at 570ish.
I had two hands, that I would like your opinion on :-)

Hand 1:
Hero is SB with A66Q
D raises to 1
SB calls
BB calls

Flop: QT8
Hero bets 1.5
BB raises to 6.5
D folds

Turn: 6
Hero checks
BB bets 12.5
Hero calls

River: Hero checks
BB bets 30.75
Hero folds

I think I am beat OTF here. Pretty sure that OP most likely has Jx9x in my opinion or a set of Ts or 8s...but not that likely. He seems super solid. I have not seen him play super junk nor make any mistakes. Bluffing his missed NFD is also an option, but seems not too likely for me.
Should have folded the flop. What do you think?

Hand 2:
UTG calls 0.5
Hero is UTG+1 with KAK3 and raises to 2.25
Button calls

FLop: 9T2
Hero bets 4.75
Button calls

Turn: A
Hero bets 11.61
Button calls

River: Hero checks
Button bets 37.55
Hero??? I was pretty desperate here and folded

Any insight would be very much appreciated :-)

What´s up guys?

I feel like I use every single minute to sit at the tables and play... and I love it. Regular days look like me playing for 1-3 hours after work. My network seems to be juicy in the late hours around 10p.m. to 1a.m. which is terrible for my sleeping pattern consindering that i get up around 6.30 a.m. and work 8-12 hours a day depending on the project and due dates.
Anyways, in a quick early morning session I was able to win a stack. One pot was worth notation in my opinion:

Hero is D with 6465
folded to Hero who calls
SB completes
BB checks

Flop: T73
checked to Hero. Hero bets 1
SB and BB both call

Turn: 2
checked to Hero. Hero bets 2.25
both call

River: A
checked to Hero. Hero bets 8.48
BB calls with TQAJ

Should I have bet bigger on the Turn or do you think that this would make at least one of the two opponents fold? I don´t think that the third OP had a set. Most likely 8x9x, which he was chasing cheaply?

Bankroll reached a new high point of 625ish for now. The next down- or upswing is around the corner though:-)
I will try to track the lengths of my sessions from now on:-)
Ending bankroll: 625
session: +50.5

What's up community,

long time no post. I really sucked recently, which is mainly due to me gambling away my 600 dollar roll in classic fashoin at 1/2 and even 2/4 as far as I can remember....
In the mean time I had some real life stuff going on with work and family.
After losing the bankroll, I redeposited here and there. I did the same 4 days ago, when I deposited 50 bucks and I ran it up to 838 dollars one tabling PLO50. +
I am one lucky son of a b****
I had one really interesting hand, where I was facing a tough decision. I would love to have some input here:

folded around to hero in highjack who raises to 1.5 with 55JJ
BB calls
Flop comes A3Jr
Hero bets 2 and BB calls, who is a tight, but solid OP
Turn comes a 8r
BB checks, Hero bets 4, BB raises to 9.5, Hero calls+
Hero bets 14, BB raises to 50
Hero????
I elected to fold, we were both 350 BB deep before the flop...
any thoughts?
Hope your poker journey is going well

Whats up people. I hope you had a great Christmas off-time and spent a decent amount of time with your loved ones.
Me, as a degen, I played poker whenever family was not around or nobody was visiting, which basically forced me to play from midnight to about 4 a.m. last night and some hours in between.
In total I guess that I didn’t play more than ten hours. I sticked to my old habit of dumping my 800 something BR in old fashion trying to recoup some losses at PLO200 and even 400 ( yes, I can be ******ed a lot of times)
Anyways…After losing this chunk of roll weeks ago, I stopped playing until Christmas. Addicts are addicts. It is itching in my fingers. A few of my buddies play video games in their free time, essentially paying money to have some fun. Us poker players at least have the chance to make some money while having fun, too. Is this the logic to follow…Old 2+2 veterans and proper common sense could smell some kind of gambling notion, but I just love the game and am not punting away significant money.
Anyways, I deposited 100 bucks again, and built them up to 498 and change.
My new approach is not to get to a certain buy-in level asap, it is rather to make every decision the single best one possible. I thought about this for a couple of hours. I am not attracted by the money since I have a decent income, yet playing below PLO50 is boring the **** out of me But mental strength and discipline are required in a lot of aspects in life.
From today onwards I will one table PLO and try to make the best decision possible in every hand. Improve and fine tune my play and beat my opponents. I think of poker as a gentlemen’s sport like chess, snooker etc. just with some more complexity to it. And I love to master complex things. I am my only enemy and I need to prove to myself that I am able to succeed with this. I have pretty much succeeded with everything else, academically, personal life, job… Besides my job, this is the only other thing that really catches my intention when I have some free time and did all of my duties.
Hence why I came up with this idea. I want to play with this bankroll as follows:
$500-$1000 PLO25
$1000-$2500 PLO50
$2500-$6000 PLO100
$6000-$12000 PLO200
Playing PLO100+ really makes some nice additional money. But I will view this approach more like a mental challenge. Next year I will also start to invest into stocks and ETFs, which will require a way more stable emotional “grid” and mental power. This challenge will hopefully improve my mental strength.
I think that I probably beat low stakes in the long run and losing a couple hundred dollars is not a big deal for me. If I, on the other hand place speculative bets on stocks to recoup some losses etc. and lose like 10K, this will really have some impact on my personal financial future.
This is why I will stick to this approach.
I try to update twice a week from now on.

Cheers

That's interesting to hear and makes hope.
I just started exploring material etc. and know that stocktrader.com has an ETF section.
I also find investopedia very useful for basic knowledge and introduction.
Will post new findings if appreciated.

What's up grinders?
I reached the whooping milestone of $1,000 bankroll. It was like running into a wall over and over again being close to the magic figure but never able to break through. I was peaking at 1,050 but lost a buy-in in a magic set-up.
Hero is on the button with Kc8cJsTs and raises to 1.75
BB calls.
Flop comes Qs9s4c
and we get it in....
OP shows 9c9h5h7s
I lost the pot.
I put the hand into odds calculator and was surprised to see that I was actually behind 55-45. I was even expecting to be ahead 60-40.
Not a single day passes by where you don't learn something new.
I made quads today twice :-) but only increased my bonkroll by less than 15 bucks.
Hopefully will be grinding some more later.
I try to put in good volume this year to start of next year with a bang.
Good luck people

I will call it a day... Bankroll stands at 1184 and change so I finally made more than 1K in the past couple of days. It seems like Christmas seems to be the best time around for playing, player pool wise. I wonder if this is how it felt like back in the day. haha Cheers

I have a little stupid question. How can I edit the display mode to show more than 25 posts per page or whatever it is? I have seen it once where you could box/unbox different options to show for example 100 posts per page, but I can't find it right now-.-
****** mode I know....
Thanks for the advice guys

Also I forgot to say, should I break my rules of playing at according stakes, I will invite my girlfriend to some nice dinner for the price of the forbidden buy-in level. Say i play PlO200 underrolled, then the dinner will be worth of around 200 bucks. This creates a win/win/lose situation which is awesome. i get great food, as does my girlfriend, plus I get punished. Weeee.
I will not play tommorrow or the first week in January, since l'm off for some winter sports.
Happy new year everyone and a successful 2017.
Also I lost 140 today, which brings me to another rule to only play two bullets a day and a max additional one of there is a huge donator at the table.
Cheers

Happy new year dear lurkers.
My year started off awful at the tables. I lost a 700BB pot with the flopped top set and a turned flush draw against a double gutter, which completed OTR.
Locking back, I don't see how I could have avoided to call of the pot-sized bet, as it was the low backdoor straight that f****** my tiny ass.
This hand sent me on monkey-tilt and I played for ten hours straight and even sat down with half of my bankroll at one point and losing it....
Luckily, I could make it all back. Being down a couple hundred bucks at one point, I did not care about the money at one point and made a 100BB bluff against two competent opponents oop-the move held, but I hate myself for my rage-mode.

What are your principles for avoiding such bull****. I will fail with my goals if something like this happens again I guess. What do you guys do to behave yourself?

GL in 2017. Hopefully PS does not get worse.

If you know the solution tell me.

As for myself after a big hit like that I blow another stack out the window and then I know I need to quit.

Yeah, it is essentially the key to stay in the game.
I will give some thought to it within the next week.
Resultwise, I could increase my bankroll to a new peak of $1190.20, which is super cool. I played almost 40 hours with an hourly of >$30 which is more than my actual net salary hahaha. No notable hands in since the last brief one that i described.
My weekly goal will be 10 hours for the upcoming week with a max of 5 sessions in 7 days.
Also I want to play after 8p.m. and have everything else real life related to be done before playing. The minimum session length should be 1.5 hours with a max of 3 hours. I want to try and keep track of those weekly goals

number of sessions: 0/5 [ ] also after 8 p.m.
hours: 0/10 [ ]
session length: 0/5 [ ]

good luck at the tables

this day was funny... I was sun running and won 300 bucks in less than two hours only to lose it all back and some more. I have to admit that I played PLO100 when I reached a roll of 1500....then I gave it back. I am now standing at 1141.31.
My poker year will start off on friday this week and I want to follow my principles.
I will ship $25 to the first three posters each time that I violate my set principles for a total of 75 bucks.
