H1: Prob smaller cbet on this flop I THINK is better? I guess we have to sigh call off river?

H2: If you're willing to 4bet vs a limp/4bet, you probably have to be going with it on this flop...

H1 it's hard to find many bluffs for btn otr, Axdd that isn't 4bet pre, doubtful he's vb anything worse so I don't mind an exploit xf.

H2 yeah don't see how you can xf. I'd either jam or if you're gonna x then call. Just need a little bit of air in a pocket pair heavy range to make that price right. Throw in potential Ax to his range and folding becomes a disaster.

lol pretty silly check/fold with spr of 1

vs whale specifically that youre 5betting for value obv, x/f fine vs anybody else

Think Hand 1 is a fold. His only bluffs are 2dXd/6dXd/3d4d/4d5d/5d7d/8d9d. Pretty sure it should've be a bet though. He'll have to defend some Jx to avoid overfolding.

Agree with everyone else on Hand 2.

Lol what are you trying to accomplish with that turn sizing

Call that river hand 1 because lol pot odds. Not super high in our range, not folding AK, but people play bad.

If I'm 5b AK versus the whale I'm just ripping this flop probably.

Up a few 5 figs YTD now

Up more live but lost most online.

Played a live hand so bad that I still cringe thinking about it weeks after (not even gunna posting it here due to how bad it was. Only lost 4k on that specific street but still)

Sooo might actually fire in the main/bunch of tournies this summer.

Anyone who started in cash got tips on how to adapt for tournies? Any training sites to recommend? The tourny threads on 2p2 worth reading?

I guess it's mainly the 25bb - 50bb stacks that I'm not sure how to play (which is prob 90% of the tournament right My Journey in Live Mid-High Stakes)

I'm hardly a tourney expert, but I do fit the bill of a cash player learning to play MTTs. The most helpful reference for me in trying to formulate a tournament strategy has been the book "Kill Everyone". It's a bit dated now (2009) so there may well be newer material that is better.

LOL this.

But like, anybody who does well at mid/high cash is always going to be able to lock-up decent markup. Rather back a cash grinder then one of those broke ass
"tournament pros" who are all deep in makeup trying to sell off at 1.3

I've played like 4 tournaments in my entire life and I'm fairly certain I could sell off as much action as I wanted at a decent markup.

Will take a look. Even if it's outdated, it'll still be insightful as to how other players could be approaching the game

Pretty sure I can wing it and still be better than >90% of the field

I'm going back and forth on selling pieces. Still want to try and maintain anonymity. Kind of don't want to deal with the admin hassle of selling all these tiny pieces of 1% either.

Hah speaking of tourny donkeys vs cash pros, I heard no truer words the other day: cash players have no problem min cashing, but it takes a real donkey to run deep. Money for the former comes from last longer bets

Going to be doing an online training course over the next few weeks in exchange for writing a review itt.

--------------

T/20. Open 99 in SB to 80. BB "TAG" (in town for tournies and probably is shot taking this stake as he bought in shorter and slowly built it up) 3b to 300. I call. 4k eff.

Flop (600): 347r x x.
Turn: 8cc. I lead 500. He calls.
River (1600): Ao. I x, he bets 800 I jam the rest in for a fold

Kill Everyone was a good update to Harrington On Hold'em, imo. Jonathan Little's Secrets of Professional Tournament Poker was a bit more in depth/insightful, but a lot more work to get through.

9s seems too good to be bluffing with, but ig if he's shot-taking/bit tighter then he just has a ton of Ax here that it make sense to over-bluff
