I would fold hand 1 every time.

I like a bigger squeeze size pre in hand 4, ~$125. (and calling OTR is fine IMO)

Thin calls and thin bets should lose a fair amount - some of the above HHs have a hint of results oriented thinking ( which we all do of course)

Appreciate it. I'll throw in my .02

Hand1- you played it fine. Without a read that V is bluff happy w/ missed draws (even then I think calling is still very thin) folding is good.

Hand 2- interesting hand. Seems like a 'had to be there' type of read, so no comment.

Hand 3- id prob overlimp pre but I don't think isoing the spaztard w/ nits behind is bad either. Don't know exactly what you're thinking on the turn though. Even though some in the hand may be unaware, you rep absolutely nothing. Ott you're in a 4 way pot facing a betting range that could easily be ahead of you and isn't likely folding to a raise + players still left to act. So yeah, I'd fold turn.

Hand 4- 105 pre. What was your plan ott? I'd fold river.

Wow can't believe a week has gone by since the last update! Things have been very busy, which means I have been productive

Bip and andees thanks for your feedback. I def agree with the assessments esp re:the pf 3bet sizing in the AQ hand.

This week Ive played 18 hours in 4 days. Took monday off and two days this weekend to go out and do normal people things. Back to a normal schedule starting next tuesday. Overall volume since I started this semi-pro thing 2.5 weeks ago is 53 hours. I feel great about this as I exceeded my monthly goal of 40 hours in just over half month, I definitely didnt think I was able to pull it off but so far so good and I dont feel too stressed or overwhelmed ... yet.

I have been working on getting myself into a good routine as i think it would help me to get more things done (ie. Hit my volume and other goals) more efficiently. This is something that I noticed that a lot of poker players could be better at. Most people get into poker for the lifestyle - ie. Wake up/get to work/sleep whenever they want. But I think it's a disadvantage as this kind of freedom doesnt help you learn to become more disciplined - and yet ironically poker is something that requires a tremendous amount of discipline (both on and off the felt). You have to be extremely smart with your time and money because you are the only employee in this sole proprietorship. Maybe a lot of players dont realize this and that's why most don't make it in the long run.

I'm treating it exactly like work and this is the routine I've worked out so far. On weekdays I go from work - gym - poker. On weekends I go jogging around my neighborhood or run errands during the day before poker. Monday seems to be the best day to take off as it's pretty slow at the casino and that's when I do my groceries etc and cook for the next few days because I absolutely cant stand casino food. Im also thinking of joining a beach volleyball league that runs on mondays as it would be great to get some sun while summer lasts.

So far Ive been hitting all my goals and it feels great . Looks like Ill probably be able to hit 80 hours this month in poker. Hopefully I can keep this up. Will post some hands after this.

As well as logging results in PokerJournal on my iPone, nitty me also records results in an Excel spreadsheet (which I then email to myself once a month for super backup purposes).

I just type in my results after every session on the default notepad app on my phone, then once in a while I'll input everything into an excel spreadsheet.

I lost count of my winning streak and even though we aren't propping on one (I know you've offered a long time ago) I feel like it's no longer official if I don't have the actual log. I just know I'm pretty close to the number you picked that time.

GL across the board. I think that one of the tricky parts about this sort of thing is that once you achieve a certain measure of success in poker it becomes tempting to quit and move over to that full time. A lot of people view it as a way to sleep in and slack off a bit, but the reality is that life is passing all of us by and sitting in an office 8-5 when you can be out at the beach or traveling or learning another language...or so many other things that are productive and enjoyable can get difficult.

A disciplined routine certainly helps, but here's to not falling off of that fence onto the other side until you are ready.

You were close to 20 in a row? Wow, nice!

[Prop bet is open to anyone, you in? First one to legit 20 session wins in a row picks the other's avatar for a month. Kinda feel no one will ship this (my record being 15) but I guess you never know.]

I just drove my 7 session winstreak into the ground last time out, sigh.

Snowball I suck at poker but i can provide certain advice specific to you that most could not as I too am a young working professional by day & degen by night and have been for almost two years. For one period I was tracking steady at 20-30 hours a week with a 50-60 hour work week on top for 8 months before some personal stuff slowed me down a bit.

So I'd be a good contact if you ever have the professional life/poker type questions as I'm going on two years now. Just shoot a PM

No cemented rule, other than no obvious hit and runs (my average session length is 7.5+ hours. I think Snowball puts in a lot shorter sessions, but we can still count them for prop bet purposes.

Ha, probably wouldn't have invited her into the prop bet if I knew she was sitting on 18!

I think anything longer than two hours is fine.

I mean, sometimes you get there the games suck and you can find something better to do. So you leave.

I've had $6, $16 and $21 wins in the past month or so.

Shortest session was 4.5 hours or so.

You and I seem to have similar life goals and aspirations with poker as well. Nice tangent on discipline. Good luck on your grind.

Thanks for the comment. If you meant going pro at poker is a way to get the most out of life, then I certainly agree. To be at that stage you have to be very good on a technical level though, and still be able prioritize it as a job because you actually enjoy it, and not just because you enjoy the benefits.

I dont know if i would ever "fall over" to the other side and turn into a pro because i think im pretty cynical about poker as a career (obv to eachs own). I do want to try it out as a short term thing though just for the experience.. as i mentioned in Duke0424's PG&C thread, im planning on going on a poker road trip around the states this time next year. Aesah also did something like that and both seemed to have enjoyed the experience.

Thanks Ava!
20-30 hours/week is pretty crazy. Ive been putting in some over time at work (which Im doing out of altruism as im not getting paid for those nor am expected to, sigh) and it definitely cut into my hours. Ive only been doing this for 3 weeks and it's already felt like forever, I hope I can keep it up and not be burnt out, but you certaintly showed that it can be done.

Also on a side note, an iteresting thing Ive noticed the other day was that I've ate and showered at home maybe like twice so far. I still havent unpacked since moving in because I literally go home at night and pass out right away.

Request: Hand history where you exploited villains leak of 'being a man'. I have certainly been exploited in this way before by female poker players.

Haha let's hear how you got exploited

I haven't really exploited men in any specific hands but there are def some advantages with being a girl at the table. Usually it comes out of no where and totally unexpected. For example, this guy just called with the 2nd best fullhouse on the river once because he put me on the best fullhouse because I was female (i would have lost more if he raised lol).

But other than that, if there is a really big fish/whale at the table, then everyone should obv be nice to them and make sure they are having a good time gambling right? So I'm pretty friendly towards them if it means it'll get them to stay longer or whatever, and it's a lot easier when you are a girl . Taking one for the table lol.
