Back on the Grind - A Bankroll Story

Good morning everyone, I'm starting a PG&C thread to log my trials and tribulations as I look to get back heavily into poker after many years of hiatus since black friday. BF really crushed my soul and it has taken me quite a long time to get back into the game, but I have rekindled the flame and am on the grind.

A little about myself
I was professional grinder before Black Friday hit. I was very fortunate that I had transferred a 5 figure FTP roll to Stars just weeks ahead of time. I was playing on both sites at the time and just decided one day I wanted to put in all my volume on Stars. I dodged a bullet there, but I took a very long break after that and have played maybe 500 hands of live poker since then. It was fun being a 20 something living the poker life. I moved out to Vegas, ran with the ballers, and lived the dream.

I was a HU Cash specialist in an era when HU Cash was an easy game to beat. Bum hunter extraordinaire.

Post black Friday I started grinding software development. I now run my own company and build software for companies all over the world. I have a sweet hourly and don't have to worry about the variance.

Why now?
Pokers dead, right? My wife encouraged me to get back into it because I always speak of poker so fondly. I do love the game and made quite a bit of money playing. I had replaced poker with gaming but modern gaming is ultra boring. I was complaining all the new games suck and she encouraged me to get back into it. So here we are.

After a few days I really started to feel the love of the game rushing back to me. This lead me to put my head back to the grind stone and get busy. We're 2 weeks in and I'm having so much fun with the game again.

The Challenge - $200 to $5000
The goal is to just grind out a BR and keep moving up with solid play and good BR management. Even though I was a heads up specialist pre-bf, the HU games have gotten really stale(they were even getting stale before BF). Instead since coming back I have been focusing my game on 6max cash and good value MTT's. I can afford to reload so will play a semi-aggresive BR strategy but still very much within my abilities to not go busto. I pride myself in not reloading and feel I must pay my dues again as the games have changed so much, but I don't feel like they're unbeatable at these stakes at all. With that said if I ever drop below 15BI for a level I will move down, and I never move up without at least 30BI for a stake.

I use a HUD/PT4 on sites that allow it. Not worth risking the roll to use one on Ignition. I will be playing on Ignition and ACR as I'm an American. Ya know, home of the free and all that ****. Mostly MTT's on ACR and Cash on Ignition.

The end goal is a $5k BR to play 50NL and shot take at 100NL with. Will use semi-aggresive move up, move down strategies until i'm at 25NL. I will be grinding 10NL until about $1k BR, and then I will shot take at 25NL.

How we got here

We started the challenge about 2 weeks ago on ACR and currently have a $100 Deposit bonus we're grinding off on Ignition we started Friday night(9/1/17). I wish I had known this deposit bonus was so good. I'd have made a $500 deposit. It's very easy to clear

I will always show the bankroll as a combined roll between all my sites. I started on Ignition this past Friday night when ACR was having all the troubles and have really fallen in love with the site as much as one can with US based sites. Great cash games and the software isn't bad.

Bonus Released: $25
Bonus Cleared: $5
Ignition Poker Points: 96.5
Next Bonus Released: 185 IPP

Released bonuses can be played with, but not cashed out. Cleared bonus' can be cashed out.

So I've nearly doubled my BR playing $5NL/$10NL 6 max cash and MTT's. I love the MTT's but man the grind is brutal. We'll only be playing MTT's on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. They run way to late for me(I'm old and like to wake up early what can I say)

5th $50 GTD KO Freezeout on ACR for $10.72
1st $500 GTD on ACR for $119.47
55th in Saturday 12 Pack $5,000 GTD on ACR for $18.67
36th in $1500 GTD Turbo on Ignition for $12.99

Current Stakes:
$10NL 6 Max(2 Tables Max)
$1-$3 MTT's with a GTD of $500 or more.
$5 MTT's with a GTD of $5,000 or more.

Bankroll
Starting Bankroll: $200
Current Bankroll: $381.94
