Wow, i knew it had been a while since I had put an update in here but when I saw March 3rd I was quite disappointed in myself. Even though I haven't been posting in here I have still been working towards my March goals.

I have come to realize after a poor performance on Saturdays stream that it may not be feasible to make the 200 hours for viewed. It doesn't mean that I'm going to give it up but with only putting in 6-7 hours of streaming a week I need to avg 8-10 viewers an hour and usually takes a couple hours to ramp up. I think if I'm going to be realistic it may take a couple more months of building a community before we can get to that goal.

In the meantime I have focused a lot of my online play on our Provincial site here in British Columbia Playnow.com. The games are as soft as I've seen in forever and I've been taking shots at NL100 on there on a shorter role but have found some success.

We have gotten off to a slow start playing live, only putting in 10 hours so far this month, but plans to ramp it up the next half of the month. We are up about 1k in live so that part is going extremely well, but it is one quick losing session away to being back to ground zero. With the WSOP poker league coming up to week 11 tomorrow its time to get the nose to the grindstone. We had a disastrous showing last time and busted out 1st but lucky for us, the leader busted 2nd so we are still only 8 pnts back from the lead.

It has been almost a month since i released my last VLOG which is by far to long; i had most of it done for the longest time and just kept putting it off, I'm going to be back on track and VLOG #5 will be released tomorrow morning. I've brought on a friend whos been designing some of the thumbnails so hoping to see some improvement with that.

Since tomorrow is the Poker League I will wait until Weds and post a mid month update on winnings so far.

March Results:
$221.14 online

Stream - Make 200 hours viewed

Dont think I really came close most of my streaming days avg'd around 5-8 people and I just dont put in the volume to do this. I think this maybe something i work up to and may be unrealistic at this time.

Vlog: Come out with at least 3 more vlogs for the month
This was a fail I came out with 2 in my channel.

Weight Loss: Continue to diet well and exercise, maybe potentially win the bet by months end.

Overall we have lost 15lbs since we started which is nothing to bat my eyes at. Episode for this is coming out soon on my vlog but we decided to draw the weight loss bet as it was so close and either of us could of won in the next couple of days. Still going to maintain my goal of losing 35 lbs by the end of the year and we are well on pace for this.

______________________________________________-

Overall I would say that March was a bit of a disappointment. I only put in about 17 hours live and did miss at least two streaming days from my schedule one I was sick and the other I was exhausted after work on a Tuesday.

About 3 weeks into the month I went to look in my daytime planner and realized I hadn't used it for any week ALL month which went along with me only having 9 hours of live logged to date.

There was a couple of times that I had planned to play but as time lead up to the planned session I could feel the anxiety building. It was surrounding the idea that if I had a losing session then my entire month was in Jeopardy. I was definitely struggling with a little bit of the mental game this month which for me is usually my strong point. I think making the expectations of $900 instead of hours was a mistake and will be changing it up for this month again.

April Goals:
Poker:
Play 30 hours live casino and be able to move up one stake on one of either RIO or Bodog in the 10k challenge (currently at NL20 & NL25)

Stream:
Get an overlay for the stream and get 30 hours streaming in over the 8 days.

Youtube:
Create 3 VLOGS, and 1 other content video

Weight Loss:
Lose down 5 more lbs.

Also turning 30 in less than a week... damn.

My 30th Bday came and went yesterday and it really got me thinking about the direction that I am taking this thing. I always feel pressured that evrery moment needs to be VLOGed every live session to tell the story, every poker league night. I have found myself some nights with almost no hands / or much to talk about I guess that is really how poker is and for those of us that have played a long time we already know this.

I am almost done a double whammy VLOG that is of two poker league nights, mainly because the story is coming down to the wire but there wasn't a lot of hand action those nights. I have a lot of footage from live sessions lately but I didn't really know how i was going to put it all together for the episode that I wanted next. I wanted to leave the WSOP league behind for an episode and attack something different. After all I am a cash game grinder at heart and I'm not sure that has come across so far. As Gary Vee has been telling me, you have to show your trueself; and the truth of the matter is I really hate tournaments.

On Friday I decided to play a cash game session as I was off work and it was the kind of session that the VLOG was made for. Action from the first hand and many hands that are worth discussing. It made me realise that I can't always go chasing VLOG memories sometimes they are just made in the heat of the moment.

This hand was played about an hour into the session and my Image was probably quite loose aggressive as I was getting a lot of hands to play and the table was full action.

Btn straddle $6 2k stack guy Utg 2/5 fish limp I raise k10o 25 co utg call

10 8s 3s x I bet 35 call

Turn 10s
X x

River Ax he check I bet 85 he jams 240

After he jammed and I didn't snap he kept saying "I was waiting for you to do that."

This is the hand that I think I misplayed the biggest on the day, My king is not a spade and at the time I figured he maybe on a flush draw as I block most of the other 10x combos. I didn't want to get raised on the turn with my hand.
When he checks the river I think that my hand is good he a lot and size up to try to make it look like I'm repping the Ace when in reality I'm better than that. I am surprised by his move to practically snap all-in and figure I can't really beat anything so I fold. He doesn't show.

I think this may be a turn bet, fold situation but as played i feel like I had no other choice.

Was able to finish up VLOG #6 today and get it posted to the babaloos poker channel:

https://youtu.be/aqJ00WqKs5I

This one I feel isn't my best piece of work but i feel it necessary to keep the story going along. It kind of speaks to how my March went as I wasn't able to get traction in my many aspirations. I also had some issue with a form of winners tilt that I plan to go into further depth in my next episode. Really hoping to get back to getting one out each week and in order to do that need to cut down on my production expectations.

No real volume of poker put in tonight, just playing 1 NL50 table as I get the video posted and write up the blog. We have week 12 of the WSOP league tomorrow night and really hope to make an impact on the standings. At this point the main objective is to finish higher then 1st place. All the pressure is on us really but maybe she doesn't know that.

Unfortunately, only 2-5. It was just in Burnaby until 2-5 starting again at Parx. Omaha plays slightly bigger (1-2-5, uncapped BI, with spurts of 5-10 games, although we were shorthanded last time I played it...) with most of the bigger games being held in Calgary (Cash Casino, 5-10-25 PLO). There is not any big NLHE games held in casinos in Canada outside of series tbh, with a few 5-10 games (Gatineau, Playground, Niagara Falls) and 10-20 once a month or so at the Playground.

Thanks for the post, believe it or not the games have grown a bit too since I moved here 3 years ago. Grand Villa actually spreads 5/10 every day now at least for the past few months which gradually picked up from only on weekends, same faces so maybe once the action dies it'll die down again. I can't speak so much for the rest of Canada these days but the PLO games are pretty big as was said also most games here are straddled at least half the time (usually button straddle) so they play a big bigger... 1/3/6, 2/5/10, and the 5/10/20

Poker League tonight feels like a must win... but in reality it is not. Currently 2nd in standings with 4 weeks remaining. 13 points back from first place.

1st 20 pnts
2nd 15 pnts
3rd 10 pnts
then
6,5,4,3,2

need a decent finish but especially have to perform better then first place!

Not exactly. I don't want to derail this thread too much, but numerous mid-highstake NLHE run in unexpected areas. For example, there was a 20-40NLHE game in Lima running every night in 2018, a 25-50$ game in Kenya, same in Cambodia that ran for a couple of months... There are some decent games in Europe and plenty of house games across the globe as well. The problem with most of these games though, is that they revolve around a handful of players, are volatile and disappear as soon as they had shown up

The week is coming to a close and I thought i updated since poker league but clearly have not.

Poker league went just like we had planned for, we finished ahead of the leader and gained 4 points on them. There is not 3 weeks to go and we are 9 points back (potentially 8 if you count the point shes gonna drop.

We stayed that night until 2am playing some short handed cash game that was quite OOL but we scooped up a +700 win so we had to put in the work. We definately paid for it the next couple of days and if you tuned in for the stream on WEDS then you saw I was hurtin'. 3 hours sleep and then working 8+ hrs then streaming .. took me a couple days to get back recovered.

Today we played some online hands and learned that adjusting to the different sites that we play is definitely important. We play on 3 sites, with the softest by far being PlayNOW. I was punished a bit playing on there today not respecting that the fish are going to not get bluffed off hands as easily as one Run it once. They are also going to make hands sometimes to and its important to maintain the strats that i have put in place in order to beat the stakes on each site. Going to drop back down to NL30 on playnow just until i win back a few buyins and get things sorted out. Will continue to play NL50 on bodog and NL20 on RIO.

I will try to post some hands and again,... more often as we go here this month.

I have been getting ready for an exam towards a designation that I literally just opened the book a couple days ago. The exam is on Tues so maybe not a lot of poker until afterwards but as were still a true degen we know there will be some.

Easter weekend was just a lazy stay at home vacation with the girlfriend who was also off for the 5 days which is nice. We usually don't get a lot of the same time off together so it was nice to be able to just be around each other without one of us having to worry about going to work.

I did start the weekend off with some poker where I dusted off $1k at the casino while playing in a pretty loose 1/3/6 game at the VILLA. I say 6$ because almost every hand was straddled so it was quite loose.

I really have 1 hand of interest that I played vs a solid reg where i feel like I played it okay and should find a fold on the river sometimes from him, but also I think.

We had a couple fish limp in when the Reg makes it 20 from the CO we look down at 109dd in the BB and call. 2 more calls

Flop comes 8 6 5r and it checks to him he cbets 30. He has a faily high cbet rate from the times i've played with him. I think this is a decent hand to play multiway and I want to increase my price if the fish come in as well. If i raise and get jammed on by a fish it sucks too if they have a set. I also figure i would flat some other hands here that are fairly strong in hopes to bring the fish along or have one get OOL and raise.
However they both fold.

Turn is a 2x this is straight up brick and i figure if i check that the villian is going to check all his hands that have some equity against us eg kq qj etc. I also feel like i'm going to be leading 10's 9's 7's A8 etc on this turn for the same reason.

I lead for 75$ he quickly calls. At the time i thought he may have some overpairs, but that doesn't make sense for what i do next.

river pairs the 5 i think think and lead out again for 145$ which is a little less then half pot. He tanks forever and even does a pump fake or two. (I worry that i may have given off a live tell) but unsure. At the end of the day i made the price way to good, and he called it off with 67ss for a pair of 6;s.

I do very much like my line here as i believe 109ss x4 is my only bluff that I would take this line with, and if thats the case then I have all 4 97ss with the nuts that I would maybe take this line with as well.

Lost a big pot later when a tilted donk called my down with 72ss and backdoored his flush on my set. Not to phased by the loss it was my biggest one of the year so far but is only really 2 buyins (500) just gotta get back onto the felt.

Been playing online the psat couple days to, nothing to crazy will do an update on how the month is looking next post.

Well I started writing today and was 1 tabling as it went and boy did my attitude change while writing ... time to totally start over.

I think I may have had the worst run in 100 hands I've ever had in 10 years of playing online. Dropped 6 BI's in 100 hands all due to people turning sets or hitting sets in 3b pots or mkaing boATS when i had the nut flush.

I began writing how I was up 200$ online and about break-even in live this month but obviously that has changed since I've lost $180 playing online just as i've written this.

I have been having some trouble getting to the casino to play, it may have a bit to do with being anxious that I may be on the verge of a downswing after dropping 1k last time I was there, and with the way PokerLeague has been going.

Since last update we played week 13 of the poker league we were cruising along rather nicely, sitting on about 18 BB's when we get dealth AKo with the aggro play opening MP and a call. We are on the BTN and I didn't want to get fancy or anything and just ripped hoping to take it then. Sure enough 3rd place in the BB rips as well which is disaster and this guy has run like god against us in spots like this, he has had AA > AK when we had 7bb shove he had KK like he just runs so pure and I'm not sure he even knows it.

In this spot he had QQ so we were in the biggest flip of the entire league, with losing sending us out on 7th on the week and dashing any hopes of making up ground on first place. Luck has not been on our side since we won the first 3 weeks and we brick out and get sent packing.

By some Mircale 1st place goes out in 5th so didn't pick up enough points to make it next to impossible... but we still are back to being 11 points down with only 2 weeks left, its going to take some good finishes by me and poor finishes by her.

We played some cash games after too when we were at like 2am with work the next day I'm saying i'm going to play 1 more hand.... Get dealth 10 10 and get 3bet by the big fun player in the game.

Flop Comes 10 9 4 h h and we get all in for a $1200 pot and he shows us AA.
turn Heart river Heart and we lose to 4 card flush ouch.

I spent the next two days enjoying the birth of a nephew and here we are.

going to be getting a youtube video out on my channel today introducing the 10k challenge.

Thread update on the year so far....

TL;DR - I’m a 30 y/o who works 9 days a week for something unrelated to Poker, Been playing poker for the better part of 15 years. Trying to work on mental leaks and play serious poker this year at the WSOP. Oh and print $$$

While 2019 was approaching like most people I said, “It’s going to be different this year, I’m going to press harder, become the best version of myself”. By increasing my effort, focus and motivation levels I was able to see the benefits right away. Poker results, weight loss, personal growth were all things that saw a boost since late 2018. My winnings in poker had already passed all of 2018 by the time February was in the books. I had lost close to 25 lbs from my high point and even avoided having to wear granny panties on my head during a session for a prop bet. Other than what felt like a cold dark winter we were cruising to crush 2019 just as expected. Winter months end early here in Vancouver BC, and after having a great start to the year things began to get feel lax, WSOP here I come I’m going to win all the monies. C’mon I had 2 great months this is ezmode now right?

March showed up and our results changed as quickly as the weather. I slowed down on poker hours, and after chopping a weight loss bet saw the weight begin to come back on and posting less in my blog. If you asked me while it was happening I would pin it to a mental leak of some sort. Winners tilt was fresh in my mind, I would have ample time to play but choose other less productive alternatives. I would blame the pressure of having to win, deep down it was fear of failure. The thoughts that should not enter the mind of a mentally strong poker player such as ‘book the win’ crossed into my mind on a few occasions. It was so short sighted of me, the months mean nothing at all except what I make of them in my own head. Being a poker player can be compared to that of a baseball player sometimes. One of the most shining comparisons is that even when your the best on the field you still strikeout. This is something that you have to be able to handle if you are going to have success, not just on the felt but also off of it. YOU ARE GOING TO FAIL!

April came and went seeing me be a loser for the first time since December. Funny enough April could be compared to December in that we played minimal sessions just compounding onto the mental side of it. April started off going well but 3rd session in I had back to back losing sessions which totaled $1,400. This was a lotta bit soul crushing and it affected me more than it needed to. I’ve been doing this for 10 years, this should be second nature by now and roll off the back. It was time to go back thinking logically. Time to put back in the hours, smooth out all valleys and the strategy. Thanks to some motivation I found on Youtube (GaryVee, Valuetainment, Brian Tracy).

May brought on a change of pace. It was time to pump some life back into our action plan, better late than never after all. Picked up some good old habits such as meditation, it has been a couple years since we were meditating every day. I have decided to give Primed Mind a chance shoutout to Fedor Holz. I am doing it on weekdays after I leave the office, and on weekends right before I play a poker session. Thanks to utilizing the App i’ve been able to add some calmness back into my life. Which has helped conquer the anxiety of failure and having to book a win. I have also found extra motivation to get going on my VLOG https://www.youtube.com/user/Ajazzo) and InstaGram Stories (babaloos15) thanks to upgrading my phone i’ll be sure to have an episode out this week.

The WSOP fast approaching and our accommodations booked. I can’t help but to think about what July is going to be like. I can’t help but begin to feel some of the feelings that I felt in March and April. What if I actually suck at poker? What if I lose money on this poker trip? Are my expectations unrealistic? I hear myself answering these: “No I do not suck, i have spent 15 years perfecting my craft. These guys have nothing on me.” or “If I lose so be it, my bankroll can handle the swing.” Lastly “No my expectations are not to high. I am a great player and will be able to come out on top as long as I continuously put in the work”

Tonight I sit here typing this out. The same poker dream is in my mind that i had 15 years ago when I saw Moneymaker crowned the champion. This WSOP summer could mean life changing things. I could better provide for my family and my life-partner Kristin, I could move plans forward and possibly explore new things i never thought possible. Each possibility is what we all love about the poker dream, it about how anything is possible. As the old saying goes, all you need is a chip and a chair and I have both.

Hey, I don't think we've crossed paths in the past so good to meet you. The only thing that is set in stone at this point is that I will be in Vegas from July 1st until July 14th. We have one week left in my WSOP league with 3 of us battling for first place still. If I win this then I will most definitely be playing the WSOP main until its over.

If I don't win the seat I doubt I will spend much time in the RIO most of it will be spent in the cash games with a likely shot at 1-2 500-1k buy-in tourneys.

I think I'm going to bring about $5,000 to start it off, if things go according to plan (they likely won't as they never do) then I'll be coming back with a nice bump into my BR and allow me to start or permanently move up stakes. It does cost me some to mvoe more than that into USD and I've been riding this USD BR for quite some time as most my BR is CAD.

Thanks for the good intentions! I appreciate all of the support I can get on this Poker Journey that really is just beginning for me.

Thank you very much! I love Van, even when I was little and knew very little about this city I was drawn to it. Since my move here 3 years ago I have appreciated it but the reason I moved here (poker) has seen a decline on the scene (at least in the safe casinos)

From what I've heard games still run at River Rock but not above 1/3 i would assume they get a bigger game going on Fridays? Maybe that is an idea to check out for the VLOG this coming weekend.

For the most part my live volume has been taking place at the Grand Villa in Burnaby. This place is kind of the best for action as getings as high as 5/10 optional 20strad games going. This is where I played 14 hours Sat/Sun this weekend. Both days starting at 5am to catch the tail end of the overnight game. 14 hours played and +1290 makes for a very good weekend result. I would say that I played very well over the course of the weekend and on Sunday Ran quite well making 3 FH's and kind of running the table over for the majority.

This was my VERY last hand of the 14 hours and was not 100% sure on the play but feel quite good about it.

We are UTG in 7 handed game 1/3 raise to 15 with QQ
Next to act(500$ effective)cold calls and SB calls. SB seems a little fishy, has called 30bb's all-in multiway with 44 but can't base much off that.

Flop Comes: J64

I cbet $20 - it is quite a dry board and want to keep ranges wide. Both call.

Turn Comes pot(105): 3 - I choose to try and get a J to continue in either spot and bet $60, next to act tanks for like 15-20 seconds and calls. The SB who I had noticed jump in his chair when turn came raises to $175 leaving about another $150 behind.

This spot sucked at the time and I chose to fold. I couldn't see what he would be doing this with that we can beat other than going completely crazy. Next to act folded so we never saw it.

This hand had me thinking old school back to the Beluga Theorem, I chose to re-evaluate my 1 Pair hand and toss it into the MUCK.

VLOG #7 IS BEING RELESAED TODAY - subscribe to YouTube to catch a couple hands from April / May

Been mostly playing PLO these past two days online and falling quickly for the GREAT GAME. Having a good time picking the game up and the enjoying the learning.

Last night was a rough one but I have come out the other side a lot better then I would have earlier in the year. Have a lot of hand histories as the action was straight fire at River Rock last night contrary to what I have been told by other players (maybe a hidden gold mine?) I will have to go back at least another time to get a better idea it could of been the table I was at was lucky with player draw or that the Richmond Night Market was going on at the same time.

To sum up the night I lost $1,000 and played for 6 hours, the game was playing VERY big and people were not folding pre even when I would 10x. I was running very hot in getting good hands but could not hold to save my life, I will be making a VLOG on this trip that will come out after my next one (VLOG 9) probably in about a week.

Long story short I had:
AA x2 - lost both
KK x 3 - lost all 3
QQ x 4 - won 50% once hitting quads (but these pots were small)
JJ x 2 - lost both

I don't think i've ever had that many big pairs in such a short session let alone get such a bad winning percentage... ,my biggest pot won was when i hero called $175 with a pair of 4's on the end and won.

Going to get back on the felt today and watch Raps Game 6

Where I stand for the month in terms of poker...
41 hours played +1335
Online is a different story... I shot took NL100 earlier and ran horrid so been battling to get out of that since. -498.

theres still time and it really doesn't matter as long as I am playing my A game which yesterday I felt I most definitely was.

Darn, that game 6 of the Raps will be exciting af So just some 1-2/1-3 tables nowadays at RiverRock? I use to love the 2-5 (fairly) deepstack game of 500-1500$ BIs, but alas, it has died/moved over to Parqs from what I last saw in October... What is the rake now at RR? Burrard? Still much better than Parqs, I fathom...

Hell yah! Raptors win and we’re on to the NBA finals!

The rake seemed about the same at river rock I never actually looked deeply into just from what I saw go down the shoot. Grand Villa sporting the biggest games right now I would say no PLO tho it has 5/10 straddle 20 running Nlh that’s where I put in the majority of my volume.

Today’s sessions was a lot like the raptors game we were hype and fell flat in the Q1 and were down 400 grinded to even down 200, even down 500 back to even ... you get the picture we got outta there at a hightick of +145 on the way back up!

Tomorrow we vlogging

After pulling some hair out last night when I was having issues changing .MOV files into my adobe I finally figured it out and pumped out a new VLOG that wrapped up week #14 of my WSOP league...

Good timing as the Final Week #15 is tonight and were gonna get it!

https://youtu.be/nG6nsocWLVM

Yesterday was the first day in a long time that zero hands of poker were played, and may be a while before that happens again! As promised these VLOGS are going to come out faster from this point on... I even already started the next one!

It has been quite a poor showing this past week really thought I had posted more then I have but damn, played my biggest pot of my life last night online so that has got me sitting here ready to post.... It wasn't the biggest pot $$$ wise but BB wise online (750bbs)

So this happened on RIO and in a game that was mostly 3 handed and even played HU for a bit against this guy. I definitely had an image of extreme splash and bluffs and this guy had run like jesus himself to get to where he was. No converter seems to work for RIO yet so i'll try to clean this up....

This went on top of an already very very bad run online that day, i lost 4 BI's on bodog and this made it 8 on RIO due to the game. Overall OUCH!

On top of this I am currently on a downswing live of about $1,500 over the last 5 sessions but alas I believe I am playing very well especially live and the heat will be coming.

side not we didn't win the wsop league... gg
