Hello,
My name is Asj Taylor, 21 year old grinder from New Zealand, known in the online poker world as Asjbaaaf. I have been a decent winner in mid/highstakes mtt's in the last 2 years. (edit: if anyone is curious my first name is pronounced similar to "Ash" with a tiny bit of emphasis on the J at the end.)
I have to decided to set a challenge for myself in which I will start with very few resources and attempt to work my way back to the top.
Here is a graph to show my lifetime results. these are across pokerstars and FTP, with the majority of the volume being MTT's apart from when I was a breakeven STT player for the first 13000 games.
The challenge: To start with $4.20 USD in my pokerstars account and run it up as far as I can. I also have 222 FPPs which I will use to play microstake sattelites and farm $T.
For starters I will play 100% of my volume on pokerstars, playing microstake SNG's and as I mentioned above FPP sattelites (potentially some freeroll mtt's aswell). As I progress I will add Micro MTT's and eventually venture over to FTP to play some of the games on there.
Why am I doing this:
Boredom, mixing things up, i've always wanted to do something like this.
One of the main excuses I hear from recreational players or not so successful regulars is that "They've never had the roll for it" or "never had that one win to start them off". I hope that if this challenge shows even one person how ridiculous these claims are it will have a positive impact.
I also would like to make some changes to my non-poker schedule and think that combining these 2 changes at once will be positive.
I'm nowhere near busto and neither am i looking to make bets on this challenge.
Starting:
I will likely start this challenge sometime over the next few days. At the start of my first session I will make a post to make a "start point" for future reference. I will do semi regular updates.
The only real end goal is to have a decent bankroll to grind WCOOP in september from this challenge.
here is a screenshot to show my starting balances (note I have kept a bit in my cashier in euros as I have a horse for low-midstakes mtts. I will use these funds for his transfers only.)
And my sharkscope is officialy reset to 0 games ready to start a new journey. I will likely unlock it eventually but I'm super interested to see how long it takes for me to progress.
In the case i go bust (i don't think its very likely but i guess it could happen) i will likely just start again at least a couple of times.
cheers for your interest and let the games begin
