Background:

First got interested in poker back in the mid 00's, but I was in middle/high school not much that I could do with my budding interest other than wow my friends by guessing their hands playing 5 card draw between classes.

Interest waned until a few months ago when I decided to start hosting a weekly game with some folks from work. After a few weeks I remembered how much I loved just learning about the game without ever really getting to play it before. I played in a local donkament and took home a second place split for $2200, then I was really interested.

I've since put that $2200 towards some books, PT4, piosolver, and the beginnings of a bankroll.

The Goal:
Short term:
  • Prove myself to be a winning player in 2NL/5NL.
  • Beat 5NL for +8bb/100 and make 100 BI for 10NL
Medium term:
  • Move up to 10NL beat it for +5bb/100.
  • Start building a proper roll from online winnings to play live.
Long term:
  • Build a big enough roll to be comfortable playing live (one decent 2/3 game in my area and other than that its 5/5 at least).
  • Take on 25NL and beat if for any amount.

The commitment:
Poker is not a #1 priority for me. I work a good bit and am trying to be a bit more active and social. I'm finding I can comfortably play 6-8 tables for 400-550 hands/hour. I put in 22 hours for 10.3k hands this week, but I'm not sure if that is sustainable.

I'll be satisfied if I get in more than 5k hands/week. I'll certainly aim for more than this but that is the minimum I want to hit.

This is on top of several hours of study per week. Some in pio, some in hand review/database review, and some looking at other material. Feel free to recommend materials!

Where we are starting:
Have played and lost a bit online in the past few months. But I think I have enough of an understanding of the game to beat the micros at this point so about a few weeks ago I started a clean slate. It helps that I'm deciding to post this after a couple run good sessions!
