Hello everybody

Intro
My name is Alexander, and made another PGC thread not to long ago where I tried my hands at HUPLO. you can read it here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...lenge-1633926/
Gave that up after running pretty crappy, and probably playing quite questionable towards the end.

I'm in a situation where I find myself fairly broke. Got 1400$ in British pounds after an succesful pokertrip to london lying in my room which I can't convert to Norwegian kroners because the closest exchange place is over 5 hours away. (**** norway). And I got about 1 single $ in my bank account right now. Also got 500$ invested in some stock market, where I'm ofcourse on a downswing aswell now :P Its a company that was due to be disbanded but an investor tanked in some money and asked for an extraordinary board meeting, and we'll see how it goes in around 2 weeks

Now over to the pokerz.
I've been a pretty serious rec for about 2 years now, playing almost everyday because I don't have other **** to fill my day with. But haven't been having to enough results to call myself a proffesional by anymeans
Been downswinging pretty hard the last few months. Like 50 bi's below ev and stuff
My drive for poker isn't gone at all, but I have decided to make a pretty big change. No more cash games. My whole career has basically consisted of me winning money at tournies and punting money off at cash games.

As this thread will not hide anything, be it bad plays, degen stuff or bad runs, I'm just throwing all of my graphs out there for you to see.

Overall cash game graph this year

Overall cash game graph in bb

NLHE overall this year

NLHE overall in bb

PLO overall this year

PLO overall in bb this year

This year plus some of last years tournaments

As you can see, loosing pretty much in cash, but winning a fair bit in tournaments, so form here on only tournaments.

Will wait a few days to start play. Will get my paycheck at around 1k$, and prolly deposit 250-300$, and grind 1 to 4$ tournies and MTTSnG's. Will start my grind however at my local pokerclub, where it's a 200$ tournament, which will probably attract 40players plus, and I need to play that one, as I'm currently leading their leaderboard, and the winner by the end of the season will win a ticket to the norwegian championship in poker worth roughly 1k$.

Will set a goal that by january 1. I will have a bankroll of 2k$ or more.
If this doesn't work out I will probably only stick to live poker, and pretty much give up online, as I don't see how I can possibly win money here over time.

gl at the tables everyone

Thanks for the support guys
Writing this on my iPad, and since im Norwegian there might be some wierd autocorrects here to norwegian im not seeing So just give me a headsup if some of this is unreadable.
My paycheck won't arrive until earliest friday, and maybe even as late as monday. So in the meantime i got nothing to do, so just gonna tell more about myself.
Like 2 months ago I binked the big 11, and made a deal 3ways for 5,5k$, and started grinding 100plo pretty hard as i've played mostly plo this year. For the first 2 weeks this went very well, and i had an online roll of over 8k$. I also did very well in some live games, where i won like 4k aswell over a span of 2-3 weeks. At my peak I think my net worth was somewhere around 15k$ where almost all of this came from poker.
I was very pleased with myself, especially given that a month or two earlier i only had like 1k$ to my name. I felt more and more that i was becoming a pokerpro, and started to spend money like i was some 2007 ship it hola ballah. An example is me buying 2 new 42" tv's for abit over 1k$ when i already had 2 tvs.

When my "ballin" was over i started to experience a downswing. Pretty normal downswing for plo, but i lost 10bi's three days in a row. Add in another 7bi loss at 200nl trying out the game 12 tabling. Right then and there i cashed out like 4k$, and left myself with roughly 1k$ in bonuses, which i planned to run it up. The spin up started well, but i goes how it should go when you shot 200plo with 10bi.

Most of my live winnings i had spent on dumb ****(tv's and this ipad im writing on right now, even tho our house already has 2 ipads...)
So i was more or less down to the 4k i cashed out from stars, and after paying off my grandparents for a car i bought off them, and paying all the insurance and fees i was down to around 1k. First few hundred $$ of those went to huplo and the other thread i had, trying to spin it up. Lost another 400$ live, and finally blew the last online trying to run up a roll.
So therefore i find myself lying in my bed next to my 1,5k in british pounds, and a measly 1$ in my bankaccount waiting for my paycheck to arrive.

That's it for me guys, and i'll be back as soon as i get to transfer some money into my account.
Gl everyone

I think you perceive the money earned from poker as easy money, and that's why you go spending it easily and unnecessarily.

If that's the case, studying more on poker and spending more effort for it might help. Also saving ~20% of your wins on another account seperate from poker might help you save money.

By the way, the tourney results look good -at least you are winning. So, what have you studied so far to get those results (which books, threads, videos, etc).

Good luck!

Hi
Yeah, I kinda start to feel like it's easy money, especially when I'm on an upswing. But I'm actually getting some money coaching by a good IRL friend of me who is actually crushing 500nl zoom (200k+ year). What surprises me with him is that he plays the same wether it's 500nlz, 2knl or our friendly home game with 50-100$ buyin.

Will try to study some more, and maybe watch some RIO videos (essential sub) to give more effort. Think I've been pretty lucky in the fact that it comes pretty natural to me. Atleast tournament poker. I don't think I have actually reviewed my game once in my career. Not a real review session. Might have glanced over some hands for 15 sec, but nothing more. tbh I'm not sure what to look for...

Tournament poker has always come easy for me for some sick reason. Might even be some sick fish on a heater, but feel like I do alot of good decisions, esp when we're deep and I can put people into spots they are uncomfy in.
As I said I haven't really worked on my game. I've lurked some around here on 2+2, got an RIO membership where I probably watch 1 video on avg a month. Got like 4 poker strategy books lying around, but they're kinda boring after a while. Think it's much more interesting reading pokerdocumentaries and stuff. I really enjoy discussing poker strategy, but not so much reading.

Thanks for the tips, and I will definately start to work more on my game (read, watch and discuss). Think I will both improve my pokergame alot, but also my spending habit will improve, as money you feel you've worked hard for will be harder to spend on random bull****.

So once again thanks for following the thread and for the tips
