Hello everybody, today was one of the worst days in my life. I scored 9% in my exam and barely passed it. I'm disappointed not just because a low score, but i wasted 12 yrs. of my life and got unlucky. I worked hard at school, my parents, relatives and everyone around me wanted me to succeed at school and exams but i disappointed them. In my country, people think that school and exams will make a big influence on your further life but i disagree with them. Today, i started hating everyone around me, today is the day i decided to change everything. Here, everybody thinks that poker is satans game, nobody believes that you can make money playing poker, nobody even believes that you can make money when you are younger than 22. From now on, i will dedicate almost all of my spare time to poker, i want to achieve something in my life, i don't want to go the standard way: school -> studies -> work. I see many stupid people in my life, they don't think about the future, they don't care about what will happen to them, they go the standard way, the way their parents thought them who i see are so not happy about their lives. People work 9-5 and earn 500-1000 dollars every month. They don't have freedom, they are like rats in their cages.

Today, i'm 18 and this the start of my new life. Life, where i don't waste my time, where i have goals and try to achieve them.

1. I am going to watch ~50 hu videos and read as many articles as i can get my hands on.
2. After step 1 i will:
1) play turbo hu sngs for ~3 hours everyday.
2) review sessions, watch videos, read articles, read forum.

Starting BR: 125$

Atm, i am living with my parents so i don't need any money, but i would like to buy a computer for myself in the future: 400$ <- not sure what part of my future bankroll should i invest in this.

Further life, in my country you can live a pretty happy life earning 1k$ a month. So this is a goal for my future.

Please 2+2'ers inspire me to work hard and achieve something in my life, sorry for mistakes.

What country are you from?

Honestly, putting everything on one card is almost never a good idea. Nobody says you can't achieve your goals but if you don't you have absolutely nothing. Just my opinion.

GL though

OP I understand ur feelings nd I wish u goodluck but i think heads up sit&goes can be very tilting for ppl who just started playing.

If u work hard nd control ur emotions u can easily win around 1k month playing low stakes mtt sit goes or 1 table 9 man or 6 man
You have some experience playing poker or just starting now?

Btw where are you from?

Hello guys, i'm from Lithuania, i started playing poker 1 month ago.
fibe9, i don't have anything so i can't lose anything.
V0dkandices, i think i can handle variance, i think i will read the poker mindset if i experience any problems. And i understand the basics very well: BRM, position, agression, pot control, value betting, bluffing, hem hud...

As long as you play a lot and study hard off table it's possible.
Just you need to have mental strengt to top that, which I would guess not many 18 year olds have.
This I believe can be trained (to a point), but not as much as other things.

I guess you'll see if you are this kind of person in first 6months of serious playing. Be honest with your self, and re-evaluate if poker can be the thing for you.

Playing poker for a hobby is overly stressful for many at times, playing it professionally is whole new level.
Be aware!

Also, sorry but I would be shocked, if you "understand all the basic concepts very well" when you started 1 month ago. Hope I'm wrong.

When i first started playing i thought i knew all the basics and theorys and yet im still learning now. poker takes a lot of time studying and playing. If this is what you truly want then theres nothing stopping you except for yourself.

Best of luck and don't give up.

How long have you been playing? What are your previous results? I'm just curious, not looking for the information as a way to criticise you later.

Well man i asked cauz my experience is kinda similar with yours, but im still studying nd use to have good grades but now i dont care about it since I m playing poker like a professional 6 months ago or something, winning much more $ than i would on standard graduate job nd doing a thing that I like without a boss or working all day. (ppl in my country use to think the same way about poker nd live is not expensive to)

I can tell u that u need lot of experience nd know how to lead with some parts of the game before u start thinking about turning pro, 1 month its not enough obv.

I started played with some 50$ bonus when i was like 17 years old (I know its illegal lol) I was easily beating the games nd my br was growing fast, than I faced my 1st real downswing, I tilted like crazy nd started playing high stakes hu sit&goes, 5 days before turning 18 nd start playing like pro (in my toughts) I busted almost all my BR playing hu vs dariominieri lol

Some months after this experience I started grinding it back nd what happened on that day seems far now and when I look at my lifetime graph the -3k day is not a big deal, but I think that only after this kind of experiences and leading with true variance u can make a decision of turning pro based on your reactions nd knowing how to deal with it.

Anyway I wish you the best luck nd I hope you succeed

I have been playing NL5 at partypoker 9 tables ABC poker for 1 month. So i made 50$. Then i decided to move to FTP because of rakeback and played a few 6$ husngs. Now i have 125$. I understand that i've been playing with agressive BRM. I'll start with 20 6$ buyins and will add extra 5 for every next level.

Oh yeah i ran good, i was way above EV line.

Hello everybody. I have watched 16 videos so far and played 2 husngs. These 16 videos made a huge influence on my poker game. I feel that if i played 1k games, i would not get so much info as from watching the videos. However, i am bit disappointed. I should invest more time to learn how to play poker, but i can't because i don't have my personal computer. If i continue like this, i will be a loser in my life. I must spend my time more effectively.
Xcesswee, if you come to this thread could you please explain what did you mean by saying "This is not going to end well" ?
As a reminder for myself i would like to say that watching videos can improve your game a lot and it is much faster way to learn by watching videos than experiencing and understanding these things by yourself. The most important thing now is time management. Have you ever heard of 10000 rule? It takes 10000 hours to become a pro at something. So thats about 4 years 8 hours a day.

MkMcdonald24, when i was 14 i started reading books about financial independence. Kiyosaki, Schaffer and many many more. Those books are simple, some things may be stupid but the point is clear. I don't how things are in your country, but here a man with new mercedes ALWAYS has a beautiful girl nearby. A man with money most of the times can feel free. He decides what he can do today, he decides when to wake up, he is in control, not his boss. I can't imagine myself enjoying life without having money. Since 14 all i ever wanted is money. Everyday, everywhere i think about money. When i will have money, i will born again, i will start my new life, true life. There are many ways to earn money you can make a business but there is 5% rule. 5% rule sounds like this. Only 5% of businesses survive 5 years, only 5% of those 5% survive next 5 years. You can be a day trader. But as i seen 10% yearly ROI is very difficult to earn in any market, you must have a lot of money to invest. Or you can go to 9-5 work, with no future and no point and be a slave for all your life. So thats how i see making money, with my experience, my age, no money, for this moment i choose poker.

One more time i would like to say sorry for my mistakes.

Good Luck...turning pro can be a rigorous mental strain if you're not careful. Remember you need some balance in life.

Hello, i am very disappointed about myself. My game is improving a lot, but i am having problems with tilt control. I grew my bankroll from 125 to 230 in 6 days, but it could have been more if i avoided tilt. I should spend more time watching videos and reading forums. The plan now will be to read "The Poker Mindset" and to watch as many videos as possible, in the meantime i will read 2+2 forums. .

If someone is reading this and knows any good source of information about husngs, please share it with me.

focus on balancing your life, and dont think about the money ure making per month right now ure just starting out, focus on learning and achieving higher stakes (if it helps think in terms of BI and forget about money won/lost)
