Woke up late today but genuinely felt like playing so that's what I did. Usually more motivated to work hard when things aren't going my way and that is likely a mental leak. It was a meh day, but tbh if every time I grinded had the end result of today, I would be satisfied. Still down on the month though.

Best effort I've put into poker in a long time. Literally woke up late, got in the lab and built/finalized my DFS lineups then got on the poker grind. Put on my headphones, bumped some tunes and got in the zone. Played 4 hours straight 3tabling as much as possible. Happy with the effort I put in and how I played and that I stuck through early run bad. Not running well, but these things happen. Just need to remember that I can only worry about what I can control!

Come Monday, I will be dropping poker until my finals are finished. Not sure if I will play much this weekend or not, but won't be drinking so it's a possibility. Need to get on that study grind and will also be firing DFS since it will be less time consuming and I can study while the games are on. Feeling good after today's session even though results weren't there.

Updating this since I am taking a break from poker until I complete all of my finals. My last one is on the 16th and I really want to do well and finish strong. Taking a 10 day break won't change much poker wise, but could make a big difference academically. Anyways, with this in mind, I grinded a lot the last few days in order to try and break out of this ds. Still not running great, but at least dug out of it a bit before taking a break!

This is my MTD graph so far, and won't be playing until after finals. Do work everyone!

I admire you just being able to stop playing poker while real life stuff is more important. I wish I could prioritise like that in university.

GL in finals!

alright, finished all my finals, was a rough week...
things went decently though, hard not to kick myself cause things can always go better or worse even

went out last night drinks were flowing, have a bit of a cold, so the two compounding resulted in me feeling pretty ****ty today

all good though, just downing water and popped some advils now I'm finally back in the lab, going to work on DFS and maybe fire a couple MTTs get back into the groove

been a little while since I last posted, but basically I've been playing DFS/Poker, going out with friends and having a good time, really been enjoying myself

still waiting on my grades from the semester, honestly that's biggest sweat for me right now hoping for the best

quick little update on DFS in case anyone wondering, basically down on the month because I dropped like 450 on NFL last 3 weeks and here are the following conclusions about it

1. didn't do enough research/work
2. not knowledgeable enough about the sport
3. was poor brm
4. NFL high variance

Was sort of unfortunate because every week one of my stars got injured, but overall I dropped it to focus solely on NHL since that is the best way for me to build right now.

NHL I am doing well on the month, could be doing better, still trying to learn the ropes and optimal strategies.

As for poker, I have been playing sporadically when I have felt like it. Poor volume on month due to finals and holidays, but it's alright since I have also been playing lots of DFS.

Holidays coming up, going to be interesting, a lot of unhealthy choices will be made unfortunately, but that's the way she goes!

Looking forward to the new year for that "fresh start" feeling, but otherwise, I will continue this challenge grind as usual.

Had a very solid day today, was 2-4 tabling, was rly in the zone. Loving these headphones with electronic music, gets me going. Anyways, solid day, possibly one of best ever at 25s, and hope to keep it going!

Another month has passed by and I am looking forward to a fresh new year. This was a blurry month since it basically consisted of a cluster **** of finals, followed by drinking benders and poker/dfs, as well as the holidays. All things considered, I will just accept the month for what it was and move forward.

The biggest sweat for me right now is receiving my final grades for the semester. So far I have received 2/4 and was happy with one and disgusted with the other. So here's hoping to some good results. Will most likely be returning for another semester in January and trying to repair/boost my GPA. University will remain my first priority.

As for DFS, I have been doing decently and am currently profitable. I know I said this last month, but I think that I will just consider everything thus far a learning curve and will continue to learn, improve, and grow. As challenging and frustrating as it may be at times, I am thoroughly enjoying it. Anyways, let's move on to how the month unfolded.

✫ 10$ Hypers ✫

Without a doubt, I feel most comfortable playing these and in the back of my mind, if everything else fails me, I will ultimately return to 3-4 tabling 10s. My results this month are pretty backwards, but I guess I ran well in them. Not exactly the stakes I'd prefer to run well at, but at least it's something. The sample size is nothing, but another factor for the poor evROI may just be me having extra tables up and focusing more on higher stakes. That is something I need to work on, since I want to be as +EV as possible at all times. Volume at 10s is not my priority, they just supplement additional volume for me. That is how I will approach them moving forward.

✫ 25$ Hypers ✫

This past month, I really tried to focus on getting as much volume as possible at these stakes for a number of reasons. Firstly, they will ultimately be more lucrative if I grind them hard. Secondly, I have not ran great at this level in the past and am determined to put in solid volume in order to turn that around. Lastly, I will improve more from playing at this stake rather than lower stakes. Overall, relatively happy with how these went.

✫ 50$ Hypers ✫

After a while of grinding 25s, I realized I should be trying to move up and shot higher stakes to push myself and my progress. Near the end of the month when I was not running the best, I shotted 50s. The sample size is nothing significant and most of the games were vs regs, but I plan to continue shotting them in the future until they become a normal part of my grind. I will definitely learn the most playing at this stake and be forced to think about every situation appropriately. At first, I was discouraged from running poorly and losing hefty amounts of profit, but then I realized this same thing happened to me at 25s and I pushed through and things turned out okay. Therefore, I am optimistic going forward in terms of 50s.

✫ All Hypers ✫

Just an overall graph combining 10s, 25s and 50s for the month. Naturally the graph looks weird since the 50s graph had an impact, but this is how it looks overall.

✫ MTTs ✫

It's fair to say I bricked most MTTs this month and that is fine considering the sample size and variance involved. Overall for the challenge, my MTT graph is still doing well and I will continue to add them into my grind when I feel like switching things up and trying to bink. I must say I am very tempted to switch things up and grind some micro MTT sessions on Stars and other sites at times and may give this a go in 2016.

[ ] 2000 Hypers
[x] 3.5-5% evROI

Monthly Results

Hyper Profit: 963$
MTT Profit: -188$
Rakeback: 88$

Total Profit: 863$
------------------------
Challenge: 5566$

I begun this challenge in September and am ending the year with 5566/100k. This does not seem like very much, but it is definitely progress and I have been progressing in some shape or form every month, which is ultimately the most important thing. Moving forward, this thread will remain my main goal thread and eventually, when I complete the goal, it will be sweet to look back on. Perhaps it will even be a way to show people who do not quite understand poker how I progressed and how it is a marathon, rather than a sprint.

At first, I was disappointed with how the month went. After thinking about things more, I realized that there was a time I was grinding 2.25$ hypers and now I am shotting 50s. That alone is huge progress and I should be proud. Rather than being proud, I see it as potential capability with even better things to come.

With that said, I'll add some goals for 2016.

University: work hard, boost that GPA

Sports/Health: continue playing sports several times per week, join the gym and eat healthier/drink more water, maximize on my potential

Poker: continue grinding hard and improving with the outlines I have made in this thread

DFS: keep learning and use better BRM and try to be as optimal as possible

There we have it for my goals. They are rather simple and I did not feel the need to add one for social life since mine is pretty good already (perhaps why my volume and health suffer lol).

Moving forward, I am excited for what 2016 will bring and hope everyone does well!

So last night I decided to go to the Montreal Casino and play some live 1/2.
I sat down and bought in for 200 (which is the max) and first hand I got 88 but ended up losing a bit. I'd say within first 10 minutes I was down 60$ lol. I wasn't rly tilted but was just like okay time to sit here for hours and wait for playable hands. Honestly, I was pretty card dead but I made the most of my opportunities before calling it quits after 2.5 hours since I was tired (haven't slept much lately). Ended up losing 46$ on the sesh so not horrible, but a little discouraging. I will definitely play more and regroup even though I find the people kind of scummy.

One hand of note I think was okay and disciplined by me.

Look down at 1010 utg and made it 8 to go. Old man in cutoff makes it 21. I look at him and he had no hesitation and kept eyeing my stack. I decide to call and we go heads up to the flop. The flop comes 943r and I check to him. He bets 45/~48 and even though it was a good flop for my hand, I decided to fold because he kept looking at my stack and I feel like he sized up to jam turn or just value all three streets. Really didn't like folding there but I think given the information it was the right play.

I downloaded a live poker app on my phone and will be tracking my results this year.

Anyways, didn't get much sleep last night either but going to chill play some MTTs and fire some DFS.

sorry for the lack of updates guys, been sort of busy figuring out my school schedule/dfs/poker

for those wondering, I have played roughly 430 hypers so far this month/year and I have been going through some bad cd/break even stretch in terms of ev

trying to play my best and grind through it

will do some proper updates soonish, for now just trying to get everything in order

The first week of the new year/month was kind of swingy and break even-ish at 25s (even though I won). Not particularly happy with it, but not unhappy either. I got a decent amount of volume in, which is a positive. I essentially bricked all my MTTs, std stuff. Bit of reg battling this week, and have been trying to play 50s when I can, but they are occupied so much and I am not really bankrolled to battle at them yet. Probably going to go out tonight, and sort of want to play live tomorrow night, but that's still up in the air. Enjoy your weekend guys!

^ didn't end up playing live and only drank once this past weekend so that's a positive

I want to play live but hard for me to justify and motivate myself to drive to the sino and get in a game and engage with scummy people while seeing ~20 hands/hour when I can go into the lab and load up a sesh. Although being down like 50$ will motivate me since I do not want to be down playing live 1/2 lol

didn't sleep well last night cause I passed out on the couch watching how to make a murderer, so far pretty interesting

still have school schedule and gym to figure out this week so may be a busy one

played some MTTs on Stars yesterday and for a second thought the dream was real but busted ~275th in the Sunday Storm and some other okay ish runs, I love the bounty and knockout tournaments, probably my fave

edit: forgot to mention, going to try and not check results this week
