I find it interesting that after having largely lurked 2+2 for yearrrrrrs, I find myself entering a similar situation as to what was the original basis of a popular thread that became defacto defunct recently due to the OP having met a fate that involved a hammer of some sort.

Let's start with my particular situation:

I traveled for work for 3 years and somehow ended up living several states away from whence I started. Not sure if whence works there but it sounds niche.
3 of us lived in a 2 bedroom townhouse ... One roomate's brother moved in for the remaining 2 months of the 1 year lease at the same time one of the original roomates moved out. At the end of the lease we upgraded to a 3 bedroom townhouse as we were cramped to say the least and needed more room. None of us had ever intended on staying here permanently, so we never really made our place a "home" per se.
Now, the second lease is up. The remaining original roomate and his brother have decided to go home at the very very very last minute after having expressed a desire to renew in prior conversations. Nbd, it's just that ... Im not close to anyone in this area and getting a place for myself makes 0 financial sense with the current overpriced market in this city.
I have played for a living, so I am familiar with what I am getting myself into. I'll expound upon those details later.

The short and sweet of it is that I am:

Living in my car. .. Tomorrow will make it 2 weeks.

I have a job. Not the job I originally travelled here with, but something solid nontheless. It pays weekly and allows a fair amount of overtime. Right now I am able to work 7 days a week.

The plan is to continue saving and live as barebones as I can until I have at least the minimum I feel safe diving into a life of having to depend on winnings to live.

Apprx. 40 days more of this job and living in this car will get me to where I feel comfortable that variance will not affect me in any huge manner.

Obv. I will still have to live in my car for a while starting out, but the occasional comped rooms and shade of the parking garages will make all he difference. Right now I'm searching out any tiny patch of shade I can find ... Have front and rear winshield sunblockers ... And 3 battery powered fans. 2 of the fans are 5 inch blades, run 60 to 100 hours on 2 d batteries. It would blow your mind what a difference it makes...... Can't be waistin gas on ac all day ya know! The fans (6.97 each) paid for thenselves after 2 days ...

When I do make this transition, I'm thinking i'm going to start off with like a month as a smaller casino which will be one of the first I get to depending on whether I head south or north.

Probably going to be hsi or tunica ... 1/2 1/3 will be the stakes to start, mayyyyybe the occasional 2/5 but ... Conservative bankroll and all that. I'll gladly grind 20 bucks plus an hour for a while.

If anyone has any specific questions, feel free to ask. Otherwise, I'll be back to post some more thoughts later...

I'll end this first post by saying that I am confident in myself and my plans, but one would be a fool not to examine information or ideas that he or she had not considered prior. I'm making a pretty big life impacting decizion, so I am more than happy to hear thoughts from all fronts and to be presented with scrutiny/constructive critiszenms regarding any details that I may post.

Hope I can look back on this in a year and be one of those that "made it." warning: personal interpretations of having "made it" may vary.

Currently at the laundromat refreshing my work clothes.
One passing thought is that living in these conditions allows one to focus on the task at hand with a little more tenacity than one might with the distractions that come with modern comfort. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of modern comfort, but there are absolutely positives to the situation.

As well, I find that it allows me to excerise what, I believe, to be the endurance of a strong mental fortitude.

It's nice to live in a day and age with unlimited 4glte data plans ... Pokergo's wsop coverage coinciding at this time is a little bonus.

What do you think is the minimal amount needed to take the stab that I am preparing to take? Liferoll and BR ... I'm curious to compare with my thoughts/experience ...

Do you have past sample leading you to believe you're a solid winner at 200 live?

If yes: $3k roll plus 1-2 mos living expenses, plus the realization that you're probably wasting your time.

If no: keep your job, study, improve, save a roll, play on the side, and do it after you have a decent sample showing you're a solid winner.

Being a live pro at 1/2-1/3 is a pretty **** life, you really shouldn't be looking to make the live pro jump unless you have a **** job, some savings, and roll + sample showing you're a winner at 500.

South. The answer is south. Your location is going to be almost entirely based on weather. You can stay in a place like HSI or Tunica through September or so, but then you'll need to head farther south. Biloxi could be a good October destination. Once November comes you'll need to either move indoors or continue down to Tampa or Daytona and eventually to the cesspool that is Miami/Fort Lauderdale (probably starting around mid December) for the remainder of winter.

You seem to have the right attitude going into this and I wish you luck. I'll be following along.

Thanks for the reply bro! My clothes are just finishing so I'll give. Few details and reply later with more specifics ... I'd be glad to hear your thoughts ...

Put very simply, I have almost 9 years of studying old/current theories strategies, etc ... 5+ years of "serious" (the intention of profiting overall) play running the gamut of Maryland Live when it first opened to multiple other casinos from big and busy to hole in the wall types ... And All the way from tiny home games to professional underground poker rooms. Of course years of online exp as well ... Was enjoying globalpoker but now that theyve done away with the paypal option .. ... Anyway, i have fairly extensive sample sizing in these many different forms. I have been lucky enough to be a winner in all of them, but 1/2 1/3 live casino games have been exceptionaly lucrative.

Like I said, I'll be glad to be more specific ... I answered with some experience as opposed to numbers, but you get the general idea of where i'm going with this ...

I didnt see all of your post at first ... One thing i will add is that i am somewhat familiar with the life. I have been through the experiences ... The ups the downs ...i have lived on poker income alone for at least 6 months at one time ...
Its certainly not the most desirable spot to be in, but i do believe i have prepared for this for a long time and have a knowledgeable and realistic expection/plan.

The figure you posted is a little below what i was planning on rolling with, so that makes me feel a little better lol.

This is some very useful information! Def need to get a solid plan on the extended future. Right now I am focused on, as you said, to about the end of september, early october. I would hope that i can find a situation to have a roof and be able to grind when the real winter comes along but am prepared for what comes ... I had fl as an option, but going west would be new and exciting to me. Obv though i need to make the most sensible decision. Need more info to compute this lol.

The smaller casino idea is basically just a confidence buikder, keeping within some sort of familiarity, meaning a casino ive been to infrequently enough that i remember some of the regs but i doubt they'll remember me, and also .. And suoer imoortantly, a hopefully easyish way to add a little fat to the br and lr.

Unless im running so hot its stupid to leave, the plan is for it to be a pitstop.

Work in 7 hours. Super tough to sleep when its almost 100 ... Finally found some shade .. Going to eat a small bite and get some rest before work.

Right now that has to be the priority ... Thats my ticket to a br and it makes the days pass jworking everynight ..3rd shift ..

Wellllllllllllll...... Been working 7 days a week ... They said we werent working sat night ... Boss offered fri for me since i havent taken any days off ... And somehow i ended up taking tonight off. Completely unplanned .. But sometimes things work out.

So .... I made thw trip to hsi for a 3 day grinder. Just got here...

Can i post pics by uploading, or do i have to uoload somewhere else and insert into the thread as a link?

Threads more fun with proofs

Its in the pudding they say. And i like pudding.

I forgot a hoody tho. May have to break down and get something inside the casino ... Hoping i still have some comp money i forgot about.

I'll take some pics and figure out about posting them later. When i called about an hour ago there were 4 1/2 games going ... 2 3/6 limit (yuck) .. And 5/5 plo ...... Hopwfully the 1/2 will run all night ... 1 am here, bout the time people like to get froggy.

And so it begins

Best of luck. I have no relevant input to provide as to your situation. Not sure how old you are but it doesn't really sound like you're giving up much to make a go at this. Had the intro been something to the effect of "I quit my job and bailed on my lease to grind 1/2 and 1/3 on the road..." Yeah that would be a red flag. Seems like that's not the case and you stumbled into this opportunity. It's great you have a job to provide a steady income and reduce the pressure if you hit an immediate downswing. Regardless of where this takes you my guess is you're going to come out of it with some really great life experiences. Isn't that what it's all about? GL GL!!!

Just woke up. Sleep was soooooooooo much better in the parking garage than in the shade spots ive been in lately... Plus it was nice to fall asleep while the sun was down lmao. That was bout 4:30 am and i was in that so tired i instantly fell asleep mode.

So, got on the table about 1:30 am ....played till 4am at which time the table busted. I was up and, as in the aforementioned way to tired to get on another table and expect my best, so i used that as my que to cash out and kick it out of there.

Only a couple hands of note .... The one i posted above and another where i semi bluffed the turn with an open-ended and a small pair.

Bought in short for 100 and cashed out 227, so for about 2.5 hours of play, which included 2 smoke breaks, and only catching one real hand, i'd say we made out pretty efficiently.

About to grab something to eat and head down to the poker room. Almost 1pm, so it should be starting to fill some tables ...i'm fully rested and ready to grind it out.

I took pictures, i'll investigate the best way to post them once im settled in at the table. Hopefully someone can tell me a good place to host and link them and save me from having to look all that up lol.

One last thing ... If you are familiar with rayz who has a popular thread here, you know that he plays regularly at hsi... Would be cool to meet him today if he comes in the for big hh hour as he's been posting about.

I went from central time and crossed back over into eastern time. When i wrote that note it said 2:55 on my phone but when i went back to my car it was a little after 4 ... And i literally went straight to my car after i cashed out. I thought i played for 2.5 hours based on the time i saw but i may have only played 1.5 lmao. Either way, very efficient mini session

I was not aware that i couldnt take pics. After the table broke i chatted with a couple of dealers and they watched me take the pics. Where do you think i got the postit note from? Lol

If anyone from hsi has an issue with this i will immediately stop. I have no desire to disobey their rukes or to put myself in a position to be banned from said casino.

You should stronhly consider buying in for the max. The game is a lot less profitable at 50bb. I know you have a short roll but the amount of extra winnings really makes up for the increased risk imo.even though your risking a bigger stack. You should be getting stacked way less often. I feel like you would make more than double the winnings with a 100bb stack due to 1 having twice the money and 2 being able to actually fold post flop without being pot commited

What's up. To those that may have subscribed, or to any that may find it of interest, this effort will begin October 6th in earnest. I wanted to be ready to start in earlier in Sept but the heat was killing me and I caved and stayed in a hotel for a while. Pretty much neutral as far as building bankroll during that time but I've steadily been at it. So far, other than Labor Day, I've not taken a day off from work. Really grinding out the homestretch.

I'm curious for suggestions as to what some may want included in this thread to make it interesting enough to want to view and hopefully participate.

I'm of the belief that a thread such as this can help to add fuel to one's determination and accountability as far as making correct be decisions" etc.

I have a friend that is going to come up for a week to get things started off on the right foot.

To any of those that frequent the shoe, is it going to be dead after the wsop or will it at least be normal action?

Pics. Stories. SunRun.

Plus day-to-day details about life as a rubber tramp, like an answer to the previous shower question.

What are "be decisions"?

Good luck!

The pics/stories/SUNRUN!!! will come once we officially start. My buddy is driving up from about u hrs away next week. My last day at work is on thu. I am debating waiting on my friend and working that fri just for a little extra on the last paycheck but most likely i will just sleep some after working thu night and roll on out to the casino on fri morning. That is the last weekend for the wsopc crowd and id like to enjoy the extra traffic that brings to the cash games.

Not sure what the be decisions was... Must have been typing something else and not backspaced all the way.

As far as showers.. Right now i use the very nice locker rooms at work. I'll let you know once that changes lmao.

Cant wait. Less than a week to go.
