Hey man - awesome to see you sitting at 5/10 and doing well. Too bad I wasn't out at Borgata when you were there... I've been starting to play some other places as well...

Thanks man. Where you playing now? Seems like there isn't a bad spot anywhere in the northeast right now. Gonna catch up on your thread soon.

I'm splitting my play between Borgata and Ballys WWW, and planning to start playing at Delaware Park and Harrahs Chester or Parx. Plus I'm playing online in Delaware.

March Update

"When fish run well, they win a couple buy ins. When good players run well, they win bankrolls."

- KyddDynamite

First up, 100K in 100 Days Challenge update:

Whoops. Told Kydd to put me down for 15k over the course of the 100 days and I ended up making 15k over the 39 days the challenge existed. Pretty awesome and now I'm going to have to come up with a solo challenge to do to push myself.

The last week of March was a profitable one once again. 10BB/hr winrate obtained during the month. My comfort level at 2/5 tables is just developing more and more to the point where I almost always feel locked in on player tendencies after about an hour at the table and feel that as long as I don't beat myself there's no way I should lose any money unless I'm completely card dead.

Played with Michael Phelps 3 times last week and I STILL have not won a single pot off of him. Dude just owns me. Had one hand where he blew me off an A hi flush draw OTT and he had J hi with an open ender. Wish I would've just shoved over his huge flop bet but that's easy to say now with the benefit of hindsight.

Only played a handful of hours at 5/T due to the games being pretty crappy. Ended up losing a tiny amount at 5/T over the course of the week but I'm looking forward to jumping into the game more when the lineup is suitable. Definitely need to get more comfortable at those tables because I can feel the nerves when I sit down at 5/T but I know they will subside the more I play and hopefully I'm ready to play a lot of 5/T if and when I go to Vegas this summer.

Diet and fitness aspect is going well. I hit the gym all 7 days last week and am pretty pleased at how my body is coming along. I still have a long way to go but the road I'm on has me very optimistic for the future. I need to lose 11 lbs and change this month and I just ordered a juicer so I'm confident I will hit 226 relatively easily to win my bet. After the bet is up I'm going to switch to a more traditional diet and just keep losing weight until I get my body fat % to a more ideal number.

Chip porn (2/5):

A couple of hands since my last update:

Hand 1

Effective stacks 600
Preflop (7): Hero is MP3 with KJ
Hero opens for 20, BTN and BB call.

Flop (62): K J 5
BB checks, Hero bets 40, BTN calls, BB folds.

Turn (142): 9
Hero bets 80, BTN calls.

River (302): 8
Hero bets 125, BTN folds.

Hand 2

Effective stacks 500
Preflop (7): Hero is in SB with A8
MP1 opens for 15, 2 LP calls, Hero calls, BB calls

Flop (75): A86
Hero bets 50, MP1 and BTN call.

Turn (225): K
Hero checks, MP1 bets 50, BTN calls, Hero mucks.

Worst turn card ever obv. I put this because a couple of weeks ago I played a similar hand where I spewed off a ton because I just plain wasn't thinking. Evolution in progress here even though it's an easy fold.

River (325): J
MP1 checks, BTN bets 125, MP1 calls.

MP1 shows AK
BTN shows 23

Pretty much exactly what I expected to see from them here.

Hand 3

Effective stacks 430
Preflop (7): Hero is OTB with 44
CO opens for 30, Hero calls, blinds fold.

Flop (67): K 9 4
CO bets 40, Hero calls.

Turn (147): J
CO bets 130, Hero jams for 360 total, CO snap calls and turns over AK instantly.

"Ship the sherbert."

So all in all things are going good. Hopefully I keep the momentum going in April (my birth month) and we can keep the good times rolling. Time to crank up the volume and stop pussy footing around with sub 40 hour weeks. Grind time.

March Goals
[153.5] Play 125 hours
[X] 10BB/hr winrate
[2 lb short] Lose 10 lbs
[X] Read 1 non-poker book[/QUOTE]

April Goals
[ ] Play 160 hours

[ ] Lose 11.6 lbs
[ ] Read 1 non-poker book

With the A8s hand that is a clear spot for a chr although I understand why kydd has you guys betting otf.

Good fold ott although I don't hate peeling and chf the river

Looking back I think this should've been a check raise but donking out has it's benefits in a slightly different scenario.

Always appreciate your input.

Wanted to put a midweek update in here because I am getting crushed this week and I wanted to hold myself accountable. The hands haven't been going my way this week and I think my recent success has me feeling a false sense of entitlement. This week I'm not getting the fastballs right in the wheelhouse and am losing my focus at the table. It's time to refocus and get back to the basics. Not going to listen to music and grind my phone instead of paying attention to table action. Also going to start writing down all HH's where the pot is >20 BB again. Gonna put a plug in this leak before it gets out of control. I haven't accomplished anything yet to feel comfortable with my play. My goal is to be playing 5/T full time in Vegas and I'm not close to being ready for that yet.

Also starting a 50k in 50 days challenge since Kydd ruined the last one for us by completing about 80% of it by himself in 39 days. This challenge will only be between coasterbrad, trob888, and myself. Starts on Monday and ends right before Vegas:

I think Ed Miller would say this is a good hand to 3bet light preflop IF you're gonna do that kinda thing AND you think the situation is appropriate. Appropriate means V errors are folding too much (eventually), or maybe calling too much w worse. You would have the read on V of course. Axs is a good hand due to 1) card removal for FE and blocking AA and 2) the A or flush could be good enough to win if needed.

I'm not at all saying you played it wrong... Just pointing out a learning opportunity. GL bro, run well.

The reality check definitely helped. Dug myself out of the hole I put myself in this week and put myself in the black a little bit. Wrote down every hand where the pot was over 20 bigs too.

In for $500 (so essentially the stack of green on the left):

Paying attention definitely leads to putting yourself in the best position to be profitable. Needed that little sputter I had this week to make myself aware of how lazy I was getting. I listened to music but only after I felt totally comfortable with how everyone at my table was playing. Whenever there was a raised pot I took my headphones out and just dialed in.

HH's from this session coming on my weekly update.

Not much to update on since my huge session. Getting crushed early in the week and going to AC yesterday for a friends bday put a huge dent in my volume this week but I'm ready to kick off this 50 Day 50k challenge tomorrow. Check below for some hands from this week.

Hit the 30 lbs lost mark this week as well. Have to lose 10 more by May 1st but with my current pace I'm pretty confident I'll hit my goal.

Hand 1

Effective stacks 750 (BTN has ~460)
Preflop (7): Hero is in MP1 with AA
Hero opens for 20, BTN and BB call.

BTN is the table fish. Calling with any two pre and peeling flops super wide.

Flop (62): 6 7 9
BB checks, Hero bets 40, BTN and BB call

Turn (182): A
Check, Hero bets 95, BTN shoves for ~400, BB folds, Hero calls

River (982): 5

BTN shows A6 MHIG

Hand 2

Effective stacks 740
Preflop (7): Hero is in SB with 77
UTG opens for 30, BTN calls, Hero and BB call.

Spaced out and didn't even know UTG was in the hand. BB was obstructing my view of him. I thought BTN opened.

UTG is a nitty reg with a fold button. After realizing he opened after he called the flop I knew that this size open from him was a super strong hand.

Flop (120, thought it was 90): K 7 3
Hero bets 75, BB folds, UTG calls, BTN folds.

Now that I know UTG is in the hand I'm actually sort of scared of KK but AK is a little more likely here given him just calling. AA also likely.

Turn (270): 7
Hero checks, UTG bets 175, Hero calls.

River (620): 6
Hero bets 400, UTG tank calls.

UTG shows AA MHIG
He had an extra 60 that I didn't see on the other side of his stack, should have just shoved but tried to just bet his stack to look a little weaker. Leveled myself.

Hand 3

Effective stacks 1k
Preflop (7): Hero is in SB with 89
One limp to HJ who raises to 30, CO, BTN, Hero, and MP limper call.

Flop (155): K 6 7
Checks to CO who bets 110, Hero only caller.

Turn (375): 9
Hero checks, CO bets 170, Hero calls.

River (715): J
Hero bets 350, CO tank folds.

Later heard CO say he had AK. Makes sense. Guess I should've went smaller on the river.

Hand 4

Effective stacks 425
Preflop (7): Hero is in SB with AA
MP2 opens for 20, HJ calls, Hero raises to 100, folded to HJ who calls.

HJ has shown a couple of squeezes and bluffs at the table. When he called the 100 he said "hey if I hit the flop I double up"

Flop (227): A 4 2
Hero bets 125, HJ folds and says "I probably can't get you to fold those queens anyway"

Definitely should have just checked the flop here and let him hang himself. With stacks this shallow I can afford to give up a street here and still get his stack.

Hand 5

Effective stacks 1k
Preflop (7): Hero is in HJ with KQ
Hero opens for 20, CO and BB call.

Flop (62): A 9 7
BB checks, Hero bets 40, CO calls, BB folds.

Turn (142): 9
Hero checks, CO bets 70, Hero calls.

River (282): 6
Hero bets 120, CO takes a while and calls.

MHIG

That's it for this week. Time to kick off this 50 Day 50K challenge strong.

From last post..

Hand 1: Turn sizing seems too small given board texture. Tons of pair + SDs in both their ranges that are going to call larger bets. Also like betting 50+ OTF.

Hand 2: Love the flop donk and turn c/c against a nitty reg who value bets big. Against anyone else I'm just betting the turn myself though. With that flop, runout, and villain, I default to checking the river. You're probably getting paid most of the time with v's holding regardless, but those out-of-rhythm river donk bombs rightly get a lot of respect when they originate from multiway flops on dry boards.

Hand 3: Probably folding most SCs in the blinds to a 6x raise. I'm assuming you were going to c/r the PFR but opted to just c/c since it was the CO that bet? If so, flop and turn look good. I'm betting more OTR, as I expect the majority of his range (maybe incorrectly?) to be stronger than one pair, which is our reason for c/c'ing the flop to begin with.

Hand 4: Definitely not betting 125. Either betting something less than your PF sizing (looks like betting for info) to induce, or checking.

Hand 5: No reads and all, but I'm always barreling that turn card in a vacuum. We have blockers to good aces and one of the only hands with equity that we can reasonably barrel. As played, probably c/f'ing turn getting 3:1 on a paired board.
