I've been studying everything, rerunning through hu mastermind and really getting motivated I know im motivated because when I am I ALWAYS have a dream of whatever it is im stuck on for the day and no shocker also had one yesterday.
Leaks that I've had that may improve your poker game
I've been thinking about poker what is the SIGNIFICANT difference from a winning player and break even player?
I would think its mainly discipline and tilt I can only assume the breakeven player has awful mental problems, I assume that because if your able to breakeven in the games your still "technically" a profitable player and your definitely still better then the majority.
Knowing when to quit
YOU do NOT have an edge on everyone if your playing micros, if they've won 3 BUY ins and you think they are running hot, they probably are who knows I also do think that your edge probably isn't that huge if you even think you have an edge on that player BUT if you feel like your not playing good anymore its time to hit that X button. I'm a good quitter
Playing when there not comfortable
Not talking about comfortable chair/setup etc (I don't have that and I do think thats a huge difference maker in the long run but currently cannot afford any of that and am planning to move out of here and will get that set up when im there). I'm talking about every form of poker has a different kind of format, I was playing 50BB max buy ins and my game was off, I should be starting lower and working on my game if I plan on playing it. Same with 200 BB max its a different format(which I suggest majority should stay away from without experience because wheres you're edge without experience)?
After that becomes irrelevant its all about understanding, making mistakes and fixing them.
Yesterday I realized I was calling preflop 3 bets too LIGHTLY because of there high 3 BET but its too low of a SAMPLE to be adjusting like that and calling with bad hands that just don't FLOP well. SO find what you do wrong and fix them
I don't do a good "pre-game" warmup
I THINK this is HUUUUUUUUUUGE, everyone should come with a game-plan before they sit in there tables (I write down things I did wrong in the tables yesterday and make sure I don't do it the next day) Eventually it will get into your subconscious and you won't need to do that thing that you did wrong and find other things that you do wrong to fix! The only thing I did before I played before I played poker was eat breakfast, NO thats not enough for me I need to shower think about what I wrote the earlier day.
I Browse Facebook/Poker Forums too much
Yep, this one was also a HUGE one for me that I realized while thinking a lot. I waste so much damn time reading through new poker news, latest friend updates all that bs. F that its a damn waste of time and while I'm waiting for action (since I play HU) I should be doing much more useful things. I'm going to be watching videos/reading something beneficial
I play when I'm not fully focused
This is relevant to the pregame warm up, but dumb things can really break your concentration. For instance I have an extremely annoying person making the loudest noise right now, and I can guarantee you if I were to play right now I would not be ABLE to play my A-GAME.
Be open-minded, but don't fully agree if you don't like there thought process and think yours is better unless THEY are a huge crusher
Why well if there crushing the games and they are genuinely giving you good advice your thought process should be irrelevant for the most part IMO, they have the evidence and facts that there destroying the games. If someone is at your level or one level above you DO NOT take there information for face value ask around here for other peoples opinion, because they may be giving you wrong information and ruining your poker mind (been there done that).
THE good thing about this is that I hope this will keep me motivated AVOIDING things that make me mindlessly stop thinking such as facebook it ruins your poker mind (especially if your engaging an interesting convo and then a table pops up) what will you be thinking about crushing your opponent or that conversation with your friend? Actually it surprised me that i took so long to figure this out, it just became a habit to do. Now usually I have this rush of motivation for two weeks or so and then it just randomly vanishes, I think motivation takes training to, following things to do keep aiming for the top.
