Hi everyone.

Short story about myself. I played a lot of poker when I was younger. Played live for a living for about half a year. I decided I wanted to climb the corporate ladder and did that for 8 years with much success. However, I ran into an issue with an employer and we have parted ways. Thanks to Trump, the economy is down in the transportation industry, which I was a high level manager in. These jobs are tough to come by in the first place, but with traffic dipping 50% over the last 6 months it's even harder.

I had $125 on my Pokerstars account that I hadn't touched in a long time. I decided I'd play some spin and gos and built it up to $350. Then the MicroMillions came around and I played well, winning event 16 and coming #1 in "The rest of the world" leaderboard. At the end of the series my account was $2k. I have living expenses for about a year already. I also live in Canada so we are blessed with an employment insurance package (should they actually pay me) so I am not in a panic to find any job.

Anyways, I cash out 1.4k because why not? I leave $600 on and try and decide what to do with it. My one true love in poker is MTTs. I've made multiple forays into online cash and have always gotten bored, and then lost money. The issue with MTTs is the time.

To mitigate this issue, I'm going to play a few days a week (days without plans with my family) and I'm going to play bigger than typical BR management but limit my tables tournaments to 4. I've always done well on limited tables, but the second I start adding a bunch i spew.

To start my ABI will be $7 or so. I will start the mornings off with the BIG $7.50 and mix in a few $11s and the Hot $5.50. Should I start busting out of these I will mix in some 180 man $3.50R to maintain 4 tables.

This plan should have me investing anywhere between $50-80 bucks a day. Should I run good, I will increase the ABI and change the tournaments.

With my historic winrate in MTTs I need to reinvest my roll 7-9 times depending on how I run. So it should be between 56 and 77 playing days as long as I keep increasing the ABI. Thats worst case 2 playing days a week. That seems more than reasonable.

Finally, during the evenings I like to throw a few $5> turbos in. I'll add these to the profits/loss but they shouldn't make a big impact in anything unless I win one.

What do we think?

PokerStars - 20/40 Ante 5 NL - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 137.9 BB
SB: 117.87 BB
BB: 221.05 BB
UTG: 119.82 BB
MP: 111.17 BB
Hero (CO): 119.42 BB

6 players post ante of 0.13 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.25 BB) Hero has A A

UTG raises to 2 BB, fold, Hero raises to 7 BB, fold, fold, fold, UTG calls 5 BB

Flop: (16.25 BB, 2 players) 5 4 2
UTG bets 1 BB, Hero raises to 10 BB, UTG calls 9 BB

Turn: (36.25 BB, 2 players) J
UTG bets 36 BB, Hero calls 36 BB

River: (108.25 BB, 2 players) 3
UTG bets 66.7 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 66.3 BB and is all-in

UTG shows 6 J (Straight, Six High)
(Pre 12%, Flop 12%, Turn 16%)
Hero shows A A (Straight, Five High)
(Pre 88%, Flop 88%, Turn 84%)
UTG wins 240.85 BB

Standard $3.30 call I think? Turn shove probably ends with the same result. I had a feeling if I just called he would shove any J regardless.

Well I don't consider today to be a playing day but I did play the Big 3 as you can see above as well as a $4.40 HORSE.

I final tabled the HORSE for a 5th place finish.

$15.33 profits for the day, 200% RoI lol. Lets see if I can keep that up

Well, I played 8 tournaments this morning for about 4 hours and it went poorly. I ran ace high flush into a straight flush to start the day, lost 3 flips, and played poorly. I was -65 bucks and kinda went to the old well of spin and gos.

I ended up playing 4.75 hours of $7 spin and gos and ended up 22 buy ins in EV and winnings. Very nice to run at expectation in these games.

Anyways, bankroll is at $704. I’m considering playing two hour sessions of spins when I can’t play MTTs. This should help increase the chance to invest my money, but obviously with a much lower RoI.

Suuuuper sick day. 7 hours of Spin and Gos and all 22 BIs profit from yesterday are gone. I shouldn't have made the comment about it feeling good to run at expectation yesterday because that certainly didn't happen today. Ran 16 BIs under EV today.

I also ran into bad card luck throughout the day. I don't think a profitable day was even possible with the amount of times I got huge hands in bad. With 15bb starting stacks there isn't much forgiveness in these situations.

I spun up one 10x game and thank goodness I won that or the day would have been a whole lot worse. I will sum this up with my ITM, 27%

9 Hours of spins. This blog has turned more into a spin blog I guess.

I can now say I'm hundreds of dollars under EV in the 3 days since this blog has started. I ran so poorly in the bigger multipliers too. I only spun up one 10x game and got aces in against KJ pre HU with even stacks for the loss. I only bring this up because Pokertracker is doing odd things. In this situation you would think I would get something like $56 EV. Instead I gained like $12 EV. I'm not really sure why this is? I've noticed this a lot.

Anyways the BR is back at $710. It was at $800 but I couldn't maintain anything. I actually lost three games in three hands. QQ<A8, AK<AJ, AQo<ATs. I guess I should be happy I got a run of good cards? Anyways, lots of complaints but I guess thats the world of spins.
