Hello everyone, I'm recreational player that has tried building up roll through poker in the past. Without success first 2 years, then I began dabbling into some NL50, made some money there, had few very nice run up sessions where I deposited small amount of money and turned it into few k's in matter of days (NL100, 200, 400) and ended somewhere 6-7k in the profit over last year and a half I guess. This summer was also funny, since I had two days where I made 1k/day and kind of went busto by the end of the same week, because of terrible run and standard 3b pot AI on NL600 and NL400.
I guess I'm spewy and have huge patience issues over the long run. I can have terrible attention and focus span, resulting in playing bad after 3-4 hours session and get distracted by almost everything (this has been a thing since my childhood, but never got adderal or anything like that.. but I'm going to doctor on wednesday and ask him if he can presribe me something and then I'll see how it goes). This has gotten to the point where I put in a lot of volume in few days, make some money, then keep playing when my brains are already fried up from the volume I put on in previous days, resulting in some very bad and embarassing plays. However, when I feel good and confident, I believe I'm a very strong player and have witnessed this in the past, but I just can't get a hold of that everyday feel good for various reasons.
Currently I have a real job, working 6 times a week 8 hours per day, learning programming on the side and day trading. I'm also going to try and put in some hands and see where it goes. It's hard to balance everything and in the past I was trying to put my head through wall, which resulted in some epic life downswing, but I turned it around this summer and it's going well. I'm 22, going to college next year learning computer science (could of gone this year, but had almost no money and decided I don't want to live like a bum), but until then, my focus is on working and making as much money as I can.
For now I'm going to post hands in here for discussion and just to remind myself that I'm still a dumbass that can play terrible poker(and that I hate disscussing and posting hands which I should be doing all the time. I'll probablly buy some coaching in February/March (I mean, I need it definately), but until then I'll just put in the database and volume.
Need to work on: -Bluffing in better spots
-Actually taking notes on opponents and learning their strategy to exploit them (which is incredibly hard with my terrible focus and attention)
-Fixing that red line
-Bluff catching in general
1.) Floating flopp seems fine and raising turn, I'm just not sure what to put him on when he calls turn raise. He calls FDs, but we block that, so not really. He is probablly re-raising his sets, straights, 67, 89ss or just floating. River is perfect card I think, but given most players raise FD on flop, I'm not sure he can put me on that. It's more likely I have a set/straight or two pair and not so many flushes in my range.
As played I think it's fine, just unlucky that he hit?
2.) I mean, we are beating basically everything but TT and 22. Don't see him having KT here or worse. Maybe some TJ, T9 os spade and he floated, called turn and got there on river, but we again block with our Qs. We also block QJ and flush draws, so pretty much unlucky I think.
3.) HU spot, it's bad that I was palying reg in the first place. So he floats flop with 8x, 6x, 75, 79, 44. Probablly doesn't raise sets on turn also and OESD, or FD? On river I think he thought I could be having eaither OP, missed gutshot or OESD, but rarely is he actually going to call that off with a 8x or 6x. He might also call with 99, but we block TT-AA, since I put him on 4betting that pre. I think it's fine play.
Oh wait, I got outclassed quite hard and don't know what to think about it.
River:(84 BB, 2 players) 3 Hero bets 65.7 BB and is all-in, SB calls 65.7 BB
Spoiler:
Hero shows A T (One Pair, Threes)
(Pre 33%, Flop 15%, Turn 7%) SB shows K K (Two Pair, Kings and Threes)
(Pre 67%, Flop 85%, Turn 93%) SB wins 210.4 BB
4.) Didn't have reads on him in 3b pots, neither how he plays on dry FD boards. I think his line makes sense, I got trapped for being aggro and that's it.
8.) Fold flop. Everytime there is FD board and I have Ax, I just want to call and wait for FD then move AI with my blocker. Don't know the theory behind how much this should work or not, but hey, at least I try.
River:(82 BB, 2 players) 2 Hero checks, BTN bets 71.9 BB and is all-in, fold
Spoiler:
BTN wins 148.55 BB
11.) I'm not sure about this guy, we had some insane dynamic. I think I first won 2-3 BI from him, then he won it back and pounded on me. He did suck out two times I think and after he won 3BI and was clearly feeling very euphoric he play this hand.. he was 3betting and calling my 4bets quite a lot. Was very aggro, but never saw him three barrel AI, so it's probably fold, but hard to put him on an actual hand.
He shouldn't be having 5x in his range, other than K5 I guess, he is not 3 barelling AI with Kx for value (other than KK). I put him on QT, T9 or maybe QA, even though we block that, also maybe some missed FD. I'm not sure, but seems like a good call.
River:(36 BB, 2 players) 5 Hero checks, SB bets 269.6 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 104.67 BB and is all-in
Spoiler:
Hero shows A J (Two Pair, Jacks and Fives)
(Pre 64%, Flop 22%, Turn 11%) SB shows K 5 (Full House, Fives full of Kings)
(Pre 36%, Flop 78%, Turn 89%) SB wins 405.27 BB
12.) vs fish, again, not ****ing sure. I pretty much put him on 66-JJ, but didn't believe he will call with JJ, I don't really represent anything else than TT-AA, even though the dubious AI on turn. Given the fact he was a fish, I'm fairly sure he is raising his sets on flop.
Well last 3 days were ****ty, especially HU, where I'm running 10BI under EV, combined with downswing and spewy plays, don't think it's smart for me to keep on playing. Think poker is pretty much dead for the most part, so I have to get coach and extract maximum EV from it, people don't discuss much hands, so I guess it's better to save money and get myself a coach. I'm gonna bumhunt like crazy when I come back, even though I think regs on small stakes are still pretty pathetic, but I can't keep my A game.
lost few stacks with JJ<77 PRE, AK<K6 PRE, standard KA<QQ pre, then this two hands I'm not sure of what to think about. While I was already running 3-4BI under EV. I also just realized the best thing would be to save up money from job right now and focus on programming, and when I save up for coach, go into the whole thing again. It's just a waste of money, because I can't play my A game all the time. And when you don't you lose. So gonna take off for half a year or so and come back.
