Nothing good that I've done came from nowhere, but grew from small ideas I tripped over or stole over the years that eventually merged into a whole.
By that token you must have a soundcloud or similar & song books or lyrics on scraps of paper etc going back. Every man & his wannabe dog musical performer has an internet full of bits of tunes & basic rough cuts. My musical friends from the 70s right up to my musical friends today all have their musical development up there on soundcloud etc [with the really old pre-internet punk stuff transferred from cassette or disc].
Point me to your site address & put up a rough sample of what you have or even better examples of your previous bits of work. It must exist because you don't go from zero on the first day at uni to planning a camera shoot for three songs - there's a history of your prose/poems/lyrics & musical snippets that predates uni. Must be because musicians gestate & develop from an early start nearly always in their pre-teen years. The way you inserted your opinions was extraordinarily poor at times & it tilted a few people a lot who should have known better than to respond to you. You enjoyed the reaction you got & bathed in the attention. That is what you do.
I don't agree that one has to be part of a specific network like Soundcloud to be successful. There are lots of different ways people can work in music - I've found a way that works for me and that doesn't involve Soundcloud at all. Once I get some fully produced and mastered songs done then I may start adding them to Soundcloud (as well as youtube). I don't have any really good examples of songs I've written which are available to the public. If you really want something, well I have some original acoustic covers on my youtube channel (mottotom27) but these aren't exactly my best work. Like one of them ("Let's do it now") is supposed to be an EDM song but you wouldn't have guessed just from me singing and playing the piano. They would sound
significantly better with all the production sound that comes with any commercial pop song, and proper recording equipment (hence why I've now bought a new mic, equipment and a new DAW).
I only started using a production software midway through last year and I'm still learning to this day. It's quite a big learning curve but I'm investing a lot of time into it and have already come a long way since I started. I also am naturally good at arranging multiple instruments/sounds together as I have worked a lot with Sibelius (a classical music production software) to create orchestral pieces and works for choirs. So the part of music production that involves arranging sounds together with multiple instruments is something I'm already fairly experienced with (albeit in a different musical genre) it's just some of the technical nitty-gritty stuff then I still need to learn.
Your comments indicate that you're unsure about if I'm actually any good at music or if I'm just deluded. Well let me try and demonstrate how I'm not just a farce. One of my choral (choir) compositions won a national competition in 2013 with a financial prize:
https://thebigsing.wordpress.com/201...finale-choirs/ Scroll down and you'll see my name and the adjudicator gives some comments about why I won. I've also won a $5k scholarship awarded to a select few applicants out of thousands at my university for "outstanding achievements in music". Plus I've won many other rewards of financial value for music. Not trying to brag, but you seemed very skeptical about whether my talent is genuine, but I don't need you or anyone else to confirm if I can do it because I know I have it in me and these achievements prove that. Once I can develop a few more skills in production I'll be able to release songs that will impress people. I've already impressed a lot of people with just my first draft of my produced EDM song I will release in the not-so-distant future when I've polished it up a bit.

It is irrelevant that you portray your 2015 trolling behaviour as water under the bridge & you're a reformed character - you chose to road test your new persona by coming out on the opposite side of an issue that was of LIFE CHANGING SIGNIFICANCE to a number of people. Hence their bias. The smart, emphatic move was to stfu & listen & learn rather than be the Devil's Advocate - you turned off a lot of good people & you don't even know that to this day! That says something about you - not those people. Producing a poker diary on 2+2 & running a minor trolling exercise about a sheep picture you rewarded your efforts with as part of that poker journey. Yes it was a poor joke & a bit of fun, but coming from a reformed troller you should have seen what a turn off that was. Flushing good faith down the toilet.
You should have run that reformed character for a full year to gain a rep for straight dealing rather than jumping in the muddy puddle & splashing about. This is why I accuse you of being narcissistic - you're so wrapped up in you that you can't quite see where you're going wrong nor understand that your opinion is often worthless because you haven't been there/done that. It seems like you often have the certainty of the maths geek at uni with an opinion - god help us all.
Seriously, can you stop trying to undermine me here? What are you trying to achieve from this by insulting me in my own thread? The thing is supernova+ players accounted for about 90% of posts in the stars threads, and yet they only make up about 2% of the actual player pool. Yes it sucks for these players and their livelihoods are affected - I get that. But there is actually only a minority who are significantly impacted by these cuts. Yes, they have a point that people may drop down in stakes and create a downward ripple effect but the actual impact on the micros is going to be much smaller (if anything) in comparison to the stakes most of those guys play at. And any impact this has is overshadowed by the much better promotions on offer this year, which are not just good because of the added value they bring, but also because along with these promotions is an influx of new and existing rec players at the tables. As a result, I have actually noticed an
improvement in the microstakes games of 2016.
Problem is, given these guys whose livelihoods are affected are (understandably) speaking out the most with the strongest opinions, it's these opinions that are resonating in these threads. They don't want to listen to people at the microstakes who are experiencing these improvements in game quality because they are so wrapped up in their own losses. It's understandable, but also a shame because it means that these stars threads no longer become a fair representation of the whole community's views and instead are just a representation of the 2% minority who try to smother/call out anyone who shares an opinion that goes against their own biased perspective. All I was doing was attempting to reduce some of the bias by putting forward a different point of view that hadn't really been explored.
So that's my explanation, not really expecting you to agree (a bit hypocritical of you to call me narcissistic and a poor listener, when you yourself have not really been listening and taking on board many of my points I've tried to get across). I understand there are many different sides to this, and I've listened to and understand each perspective quite well and how each party involved is affected. But I stand by the fact that games have got better at the micros since the changes and this is a fact that not many midstakes high volume players seem willing to accept (as I've experienced the increase in micros game quality myself over the hundreds of thousands of hands I've played this year; other regs at the micros have also commented on this as well).
