From 5NL to 50NL in less than 20,000 hands

Looks like I'm headed this way. Started playing again on Bovada on December the 8th, I haven't been putting in too high of volume but I've been playing quite well after getting out of 5NL.

I started at 5NL with $20 on December 8
Moved up to 10NL after winning $100 on December 13
Moved up to 25NL after hitting $250 on December 19
Will move up to 50NL when I hit $1000, should be in next few weeks with the way 25NL is going

Total Graph: big jump in AIEV was due a monster pot where I hit 2%er

Graph for NL25

Graphs are missing about $60 I won today at 25NL. I'm on Bovada so the HH don't become available until the next day.

Saw the title, thought 'not possible', opened thread, saw 'Bovada' and realised why this is possible. GL.

30bb/100 is no way near sustainable , hope you keep running hot but be prepared for a downswing

Haven't run that hot. In those 14k hands, I've flopped a flush draw 145 times. I've made a flush on turn or river a grand total of 12 times. And 2 of those times my opponent had a higher flush. I've actually lost around 600 bb's with a flopped FD thus far.

Re: From 5NL to 50NL in less than 20,000 hands

BR currently at $736.80 after 16,281 hands

So 28~ bb/100 for the next 3700~ hands to meet the goal. Afterward I will be attempting to move up to 100 NL, or $2,000 BR, by the end of January

Just curious, if Bovada is so soft then why wouldn't everyone play on the site? If you play to win, which I assume everyone does, then why wouldn't you choose the weakest field?

You seem to have crushing abilities. I'd love to hear a bit about your background if you wouldn't mind sharing. How did you build your game to this level?

Started playing as a sophomore in high school, played semi seriously until I went to college. I ran $50 up to $8k back then, stopped playing when I went to college. I'm completely self taught and just started playing again after a 4 year break, Biochem major+Fraternity ****+girlfriend left me no time to play during college.

I usually only 2/3 table as opposed to 4 on Bovada as I can pay closer attention to play styles/tendencies, where as I become a robot at 4 tables.

I usually run 25/22 10% 3bet, but I vary may play drastically based on opponents. I actually went through a bit of a downswing, if you can call it that, about a week ago and was down 3 BI's in about 2,000 hands due to bluffing in wrong spots. But it seems I'm over that as I'm up 7 BI's since that point in about the same amount of hands.

I'm still tweaking my game, and will continuously, but I feel I'm a much better player than I was back in high school despite having just started playing again.

I would just prefer it. LOL @ moving up with 7 BI's though, that's ridiculous.

As for long term goals, I guess $1,000 NL by the end of the year would be cool. We'll see if it works out. I'm going to try and put in 40k hands per month, although I didn't even hit 20k first month due to Holidays. I'm also renewing my prescription for vyvanse this month, haven't refilled since first 2 years in college, so I can improve my focus and allow degen sessions of 14+ hours.

I'll post some of my more interesting hands from each level during my first month later tonight or tomorrow.

Re: From 5NL to 50NL in less than 20,000 hands

This thread is giving a lot of uninformed people bad/false information. OPs results are not typical, even on Bovada, he is sunrunning, and while this challenge is possible, it's like 5-15% likely for an already winning player. I wish OP the best, but he's absolutely, without a doubt, running like a god right now.

While I'm not denying running 45 BB/100 is outrageous, at what point does 30 bb/100 become normal at this level? While my numbers will almost assuredly decrease at higher levels, I see no reason that 30 bb/100 isn't sustainable at this level. The only "decent" players that I encounter at this level all play like robots and are easily exploited. All I have to do is play a hand in an odd manner, i.e. flatting TT+ and AK+, and letting them pay me off with TPTK or barreling with air. That and never Cbetting oop after 3betting, a simple check raise and they're folding 75%+

Another thing I recognize at this level is that the "winning players" seem incapable of adapting to someone that changes their styles and betting patterns.

It's almost impossible for 30bb to ever become normal. There are good, logical reasons for that. If 30bb was normal, people would be posting 50bb over 20k hand samples. That's due to variance. I've had quite a few 30bb stretches over 15-20k hands, and I've seen even more people post those stretches. I've had the same thoughts that you have, the same feeling that it might just stay like this forever, it might be sustainable because I'm some sort of outlier. Inevitably, the streak ends and we're back to normality.

The thing is 16k hands is nothing, and 30bb has never been seen over a reasonable sample, even from bum hunting heads up players.

Re: From 5NL to 50NL in less than 20,000 hands

Played 245 hands @ 25 NL, ended up +$40.4. Should have been $65 but I got rivered in a $24 pot by KJ on a Q764K board while holding Q10 with all the money in on the turn.

BR currently at $776.54. Will try to get in another 500 or so hands tonight.

Main reason is that Bovada/Bodog are closed to Europeans.
