Remember guys, these have to be teams that can win the premier league, rather than just sick x11s

Agree with pads that crosses ain't dead. They can be pretty powerfull. Also think you have to have a good, pacy, counter attack nowadays. Think Conte nails it atm with Chelsea. Last but not least chemistry can be the missing link in a squad with a lot of great players, but alot of great players don't automaticly make a good team.

My squad ( 5-2-3)
Buffon ( GK )

Chiellini ( Right CB )
Cannavaro ( CB )
Maldini ( Left CB )

Lahm ( Right WB )
Alaba ( Left WB )

Roy Keane ( DMC )
Gerrard ( Box to box midfielder )

Messi ( Left sided shadow striker )
Henry ( right sided shadow striker )

Batistuta ( Central striker )

Subs:
Van der Sar
Frank de Boer
Roberto Carlos
Lampard
Beckham
Zidane
Van Nistelrooy

Back 5 is super solid and think both wingbacks have the discipline to do their defensive duties as well. One dmc and one box to box midfielder. Then two shadow strikers which can Either score and create goals. Then striker which is good at finishing crosses, and can be dangerous on trough balls as well. Pretty well balanced team I think. Wingbacks should obv overlap a bunch and provide the crosses. Because shadow strikers wouldn't play that wide. Think you can play a bunch of other formations if needed with the subs.

First 11 is basically what I'd pick, but Maldini over Carlos.

Hey P , awesome thread !!! Could you bring more details about this ?

What kind of meeting was it ? I think you posted something in previous posts about it being a seminar ... can't remember properly

What about unrealistic ROI ?
I believe in poker we invest 1 dollar everyday we expect to get 20 or 30 cents back , and yeah that's awesome , it's daily !!! So what were the marjins that the pro guys were talking about ? How many cents per dollar should we expect in the real world and over what time period ?

any suggestion for good areas of investments outside poker ?

I think it's important to remember that the Premier League is a more physically demanding league and a lot of great players have come and not made the grade.

The winning team should be weighted towards players proven in the PL and have the physicality and mentality to make it in England.

Was going to do a traditional European best 11, but they've been pretty well covered already. So I'll just go with the team I think would be nailed on to win the PL:

Lehman
Lauren Campbell Toure A.Cole
Ljunberg G.Silva Vieira(C) Pires
Bergkamp Henry

Taylor
Keown
Clichy
Parlour
Edu
Wiltord
Reyes

Traditional alternative would have been:

Neuer
Lahm Nesta Adams(C) A.Cole
Makelele
Zidane Keane Scholes
C.Ronaldo
Henry

Subs:
Buffon
Vidic
G.Neville
Xavi
Robben
Shearer
Larsson

Edit: Must say it feels super weird leaving Maldini out of any sort of best 11 list, but the PL winning side caveat made me plump for the ever dependable Cashley.

Buffon
Ramos - Vidic - Maldini
Robben - Kante - Zidane - Bale
Messi - Henry - C.Ronaldo

3-4-3
No nonsense CB's with Kante doing his usual work, covering 2 players and constantly winning the ball back.

Zidane can pick any pass on the field setting the front 5 off to apply the damage.
I much prefer fast football/one touch/ cutting in from the wings and avoiding crossing tactics, with these players there is no need to cross the ball, which although gets goals, also looses possession easier.

Where selection has been tough, I have gone for players who have proven themselves in the premier league.

Schmeichel
Cafu
Adams
Iniesta
Scholes
Bale (Can also fit into back 4/Midfield/Striker)
Cantona

Could also go 4-4-2 with this team.

Buffon
Cafu - Ramos - Vidic - Maldini
Robben - Iniesta - Zidane - Ronaldo
Henry - Cantona

Hey

Yeah we are indeed extremely lucky with the ROi we can achieve with playing poker, something we will look back on in 5-10 years and be like why the hell didn't we play all day every day.

In terms of investment, it completely depends on your risk. If you invest in a long term fund and top up, something average should yield something around 4-8%. There can be years of huge growth, but equally years of massive down swinging.

I was actually considering for a long time starting a poker hedge fund/staking fund. There is one right now which is mainly German who are mainly investing in super high rollers, but the level just below them, main events, 10k highrollers etc if managed correctly could have a very good return. I'm not sure exactly how it would work legally, or what exact bankroll would be required, I'd have to do a lot of research, but if there was enough people willing to invest I think with bitB I could create a really good fund that has a good return and is interesting for people to follow. It could even be used for buying in online tournaments/scoops/party 5ks or even higher upcoming tournaments.

I very reguarly get really nice pieces at very low/no mark up from people messaging me who aj be at least 20% roi, sometimes way higher, buying huge pieces is pretty big variance but with a fund you could simply just snap take it all and once everybody knows about the fund, similarily to the German fund you get a lot of people coming to you and offering you all of their action. I would for example way rather sell 90% of a $100k to one guy at no markup than 90% at 1.04 to 100 different guys via PayPal etc so they straight away make up that % in profit vs the marketplace.

If there's a plethora of "I'd potentially like to invest" I would do sufficient research and propose something.

Also any team that has messi in it, couldn't do it on a valentines night in paris let alone stoke.

I think the fund idea is actually pretty huge and it's something I've thought about for a while, probably much easier for you to implement with more connections to timbey regs etc.
