Hi folks! Finally I decide to start a PG&C to document my poker journey. Poker is kind of new to me. I know the rules probably several years ago but just started playing poker at the beginning of the year. Since then, I got obsessed with this game and spend a lot of time studying poker in everyway that I can, watching YouTube, study upswing poker, solvers. I have improved a lot since then and have grinded from 10NL to 50NL. In the last 7 months, I can really see my improvement in poker.

I am a software engineer in Silicon Valley and have a pretty well-paid full-time job. So I don't need to worry about my bankroll too much. I also constantly invest in bitcoin every month so basically my poker bankroll will be my bitcoin investment. And hopefully both my investment and poker journey can go well.

My poker goal is to become a winning player at 500z at the end of the 2021, and make poker a side income source. I am mainly playing on acr blitz or ignition zone poker. Poker goal for this year is to continue grinding 50NL and take some shots at 200NL at the end of the year. At the same time, I am keep watching some streamers playing 200NL to get familiar with the pool.

As for the volume, since I don't need poker to build my bankroll. I usually play 1hr/per day (about 500 hands) and spend most time focusing on studying structured materials, my bookmarked hands and run solvers. I will increase the volume once I reached 200NL where some meaningful money can be made.

Here is the results in 50NL so far and I will keep updating. GL, everyone!

Thanks. Not too much volume and might be just running good. Hope I can reach 100k hands by the EOY.

Bitcoin has been up about 20% since I invested it. It boosts the poker bankroll a little bit

Nice BTC graph lol.

When you say 500z I assume you mean ignition?

Thanks. I really believe bitcoin is a good investment long term. And most poker site are accepting bitcoin these days.

Ya. 200NL blitz or 500NL zone poker. I will keep grinding 50Nl blitz and if I can maintain 7-8bb/100 I will probably move up.

    Yatahay Network - $0.50 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

    Hero (BTN): $50.00 (100 bb)
    SB: $144.85 (289.7 bb)
    BB: $59.00 (118 bb)
    UTG: $40.44 (80.9 bb)
    MP: $51.37 (102.7 bb)
    CO: $60.04 (120.1 bb)

SB posts $0.25, BB posts $0.50

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.75) Hero has J 9
3 folds, Hero raises to $1.25, fold, BB raises to $5.50, Hero calls $4.25

    Flop: ($11.25, 2 players) 2 Q K
BB bets $3.00, Hero calls $3.00

    Turn: ($17.25, 2 players) 8
BB checks, Hero bets $8.62, BB calls $8.62

    River: ($34.49, 2 players) 3
BB checks, Hero bets $32.88 and is all-in, BB calls $32.88

    Results: $100.25 pot ($2.76 rake)
    Final Board: 2 Q K 8 3

Hero shows J 9: (High Card, King)
    (Pre 43%, Flop 18%, Turn 9%)

BB shows 6 Q: (One Pair, Queens)
    (Pre 57%, Flop 82%, Turn 91%)

    BB wins $97.25

It is always easily to get tilted by this kind of hand. I usually step away from the poker for a while to do something else instead. I find this is helpful to stay a health mind. Not sure about my bluff on the river. The solver like to chose small size.

Interesting hand and good play by both. Although I'd prefer for bb to have a Q6ss or Q6hh as it blocks KQs better and he unblocks str8 and fd so he goes for the hero call. I like your play although we are blocking some of his SD and the river is a complete blank which changes nothing and since he called big bet ott I would be more inclined to give up on a blank.

I do the same thing if I make a dumb hero call or something that tilts me I'll just snap quit and refocus until I can play A game again.

Nice BTC bink! I wish I would've kept the 2k in BTC I bought after the covid tank From 50NL to 500NL Poker Journey

Why would he want to block KQs?

Both players played the hand well. No need to get tilted because of this. The important question here is: "Do you value bet the river thin enough here?".
    Because most regs don't.

BTN has just as many KQo hands in his range. Blocking KQs specifically doesn't really achieve anything.

Probably right. I'd 4b or fold KQo and mostly call KQs. If that was the case btn goes from 2 combos of KQs to 1.

For bitcoin, I am doing a dollar-cost averaging investing. It's hard to time the market but I think I am going to hold small amount for very long term.

I don't think he should 3bet Q6s BB vs BTN. And I don't think Q6s is a hero call vs my river all-in. Looks like a recreational and calling station.

Thanks. I guess this level of downswing is normal. That was from yesterday and I just grinded up 2BI in 400 hands today lol. BTW, you should use software to track your results. It's much easier.

I will eventually but for now I just gotta grind on my zero tracking, zero HUD laptop from the 20th century (barely joking, it’s probably from 2008 or something. lol).
I’m close to buying a house and just need to save every extra $K that I can right now. I like the idea of beating the games I’m at right now by simply having a stronger baseline theory game than the pool.
I will definitely get a solid software upgrade next year sometime though for sure, and know you aren’t wrong.
