PRAGUE UPDATE/TRIP REPORT
It's been a while since I've posted here. Time to get caught up. I spent a month in Prague and have since moved on and been in Athens for the last week. Overall, things have been pretty awesome, although our trip started off pretty poorly.
The day we were leaving the US our airBnB that we had reserved for a month canceled on us, so we hurried and booked another one. It wasn't ready for a day, so we stayed at the airport hotel for a night. The next morning we called a cab from the hotel, and as we let the owner know we are on the way, he tells us the place is no longer available. WTF?!? So then we spend the next few hours in a Ramada hotel lobby, searching for another place to stay. Eventually, we get another room for the night and an apt for the next month.
We get to our room around 5pm and at 7pm meet up with a bunch of 2p2ers for dinner. Really cool group of people. Shockingly, 5 of the 7 of us had lived in Pennsylvania, my home state, for at least some of their lives. After dinner we went to a whisky and cigar bar, and drank Japanese whiskey and smoked Cuban cigars into the wee hours. The next morning got settled into the apt that we stayed in for the rest of our time there.
I then began my next nightmarish struggle. I was looking forward to getting on Pokerstars, playing on a site that I can trust, always get action, use a reasonable HUD and really find out how I do on a tougher site. I spent the next week+ trying to provide proper documentation to Stars to prove I was out of the US. They need an address. Airbnb lease wasn't good enough. Need a bank account in Czech. First bank won't let me open account. Next bank needs a Czech phone #. I get a phone. Bank statement can only use my passport address, Pokerstars wont accept it. Etc Etc
I tried a lot of sites, and ran in the same problem. It was a Kafka-esque(fittingly in his hometown) nightmare. Red tape everywhere. Finally, finally opened a BetOnline Account and started playing around the 17th. Max deposit was $500. After a day I was down to $150, and couldn't deposit more until that account was verified which took another few days. But... finally we have a new site to play on, reasonable cashouts, and are good to go.
