Do you use any external monitor at all or do you just play on your laptop screen?

I have the 17in MacBook Pro and I also connect a 20in Samsung Monitor.

Just so everyone knows, I might be doing some coaching with Rick instead of paying him the $100. If it ends up working out, maybe I'll share some of it with you guys here.

Here's a Fun Hand from a couple days ago

I was playing HU on a 6max table with a reg who I've been battling a ton lately. He seems pretty solid and I'm not sure that I'm winning a ton vs him, but results have been good, so I will keep starting tables with him as long as he'll play. In this match, I had been checkraising the flop a bit, and I thought he was probably floating the flop with too many hands....

$1-$2

BUT raises to $4, I call BB with 34

Flop: 572

Pot: $8

I check, BUT bets $5, I raise to $21, BUT calls

Turn: 5722

Pot: $50

I check, BUT bets $30, I raise to $75, BUT calls

River: 5722A

Pot: $200

I shove for $152.74, BUT tanks and calls $130.74 with

Good work on the hours keep it up bro.

Yes the tourney was definitely a good time. Congrats again MMS. Every winner has to get lucky at some point. The hand was just one of those "oh well that's poker" moments. I'll get you next time

Re: $50k in 300k hands in the USA by the 4th of July

MARCH WEEK 2 UPDATE

I have fallen even further behind on hours played, but have been busy poker wise. I'm at 60 hrs of online play for the month, and have played 6 hrs at Truck's tourney, and played 5 hours live this saturday night at Harrah's Chester. I took my wife's Gram to the casino and she played slots while I played poker. The highest game running was $1-$3 NL and I managed to make $292 there. I also usually watch between 5-7 training videos a week and do other non playing poker work. This week I also spent 2 hours coaching freeroll winner OGslickrick. Hopefully, he gets his moneys worth and learns a bunch. So even tho I only played 28 hrs online, I have at least another 20ish hours spent either on live poker, poker work, or poker coaching.

Yesterday I played the highest stakes I have ever played in my life live or online. A shortstacked $15-$30 game was running 3 handed on FullFlush and I jumped in because I thought there was a good spot at the table. Pretty silly really because the high stakes and short stacks makes for some high variance and low skill. What makes it even crazier, is the fact that I played some $.5-$1 later that day. Stakes 30x lower. That's what happens on these small sites tho. If you wanna play even 4 tables sometimes you really gotta mix up the stakes.

Last hand I played at
$15-$30

I open 88 to $75 UTG with a $1278 stack. BUT folds, SB folds, BB makes it $250. I decide to wager all of my monies.

The board runs out A29A6.

Opponent turns over

I saw that hand play out. I'm pretty sure you lead the turn, he raised and the money got in. No?

Quick hand for you. Playing live at parx casino, 1- 2 no limit. Very loose very spastic very no sense player makes it ten utg. A few callers, and I call from bb with AJ off. Flop is 3s3d8s. I check, he leads for 25. Everyone folds to me, and he says, i have 74 of spades. Then he turns over 74 of spades and shows me. So i...?

You have 51.8% equity with a spade, and 45.8% without a spade. So if stacks are under $150*, just shove now, and if stacks are deeper maybe raise smaller and shove good turns. If your only playing until the turn you have 68% equity with the spade and 66% without.

*not a precise number, just seemed reasonable enough to work with off the top of my head.

well start by calling imo, guy will gii on non spade turns anyway and you improve your equity a lot. I'd just flat and jam non spade/7/4 turns

Re: $50k in 300k hands in the USA by the 4th of July

Thanks, guys. Helps a lot. I hated my play, kinda laughable hand. We were both about 500 plus. I think if I raised at any point he jams. I ended up calling the flop. Turn was qd. I check, he bets 25. What's my best move at this point. Over 100 in the pot. check raise turn to how much?

Re: $50k in 300k hands in the USA by the 4th of July

Definitely was a check raise on turn on that hand.

On your hand I would just call flop like you did and raise turn too 225 make him make the mistake of calling you or shipping it either way you aren't making a mistake. That's what I would do not sure if its the right thing or not but seems like the best option unless you just want to win or lose a small pot if you just call.

Re: $50k in 300k hands in the USA by the 4th of July

Assume pot on the turn is $125 after his bet, with $450 behind. You have roughly 67% equity. Your opponent will not be making a mistake calling if he's getting 2-1, so your raise should definitely be over $175. Also since there are no rivers that improve both of your hands and make you more money, there is effectively no river action. On some rivers, you check fold, others he will check or fold. So given there is effectively no action on the river and he has a lot of equity, your best play is to make him either fold all of that equity or make a mistake and call for the wrong price. This is probably a big deal too as I will try to show.

If you just call your EV 67% of $150 which is about $100. Your opponent wins his share of the pot.

If you raise to $75 and he calls your EV is 67% of $250 which is $167.5. Your opponent is able to profitably call this turn.

If you raise to $175 and he calls your EV is 67% of $450 which is $301.5. Your opponent will realize his equity here, essentially breaking even.

If you raise to $225 and he calls your EV is 67% of $550 which is $368.50. Your opponent made a mistake by calling.

If you go all-in and he folds you win $125. Your opponent correctly folded a lot of equity.

If you go all-in and he calls your EV is 67% of $1000 which is $670. Your opponent made a very big mistake by calling.

By the way, I apologize for hijacking your blog here... but thanks for the info. Seems raising to 250 or so would be best. But I'm an idiot. So....

no worries about the hijacking. confirmed idiot tho. best play is to go all in^^. You win more when he calls and steal his equity when he folds. What where actual results?

I called. River was a 7. Check check. He wins. I hated my play. It was a weird hand. It was late. I was tired. I had already pocketed my profit... etc etc etc. But I didn't like how I played it, and I should have raised all in on turn. I am not sure that he would have folded. But I like that play. Live and you learn.

Yep.That's the best possible outcome. You actually make the most when he doesn't fold to the shove. Woulda made $570 in sklansky bucks. Maybe lost it all in real dollars. But sklansky bucks are so much cooler anyway.

Yeah, I could use the sklansky bucks in the imaginary world in my head where I don't get killed back to back hands with flopped sets.

Re: $50k in 300k hands in the USA by the 4th of July

AJ from the blinds is a decent limping hand against this particular player. He was a pretty crazy player, making weird moves and plays, raising with some strange combos of hands. Also, not afraid to reraise big with minimal hands and gets it all in he hits any part of the flop. I have no issue with AJ being folded from the blinds usually, but not in that particular instance. I could be wrong.

Utg plus 1 after straddle. What's the min pocket pair to raise with, and limp with?
