Hi guys, welcome to my thread!

I've got a pretty ambitious challenge for the remainder of 2018 but one that I definitely feel is possible. My plan is to turn my €40 into €40k by winning 500BI playing solely HUSNGs. I have quite a lot of experience in these games but have been out of poker for a while so I'm hoping I'm still able to beat the games (early signs are good). I appreciate it'll get tougher as I move up the stakes but what sort of challenge would it be if it were easy!?

A bit of background, I'm a 26 year old business analyst from the UK, I work full time, have an anti-poker girlfriend (boo!) and am studying to become a fully qualified accountant, so free time definitely isn't in plenty but I'm going to try and grind as much as possible in the times that I can.

A bit risky I know but I've deposited €40 and am playing the €10 games to begin. My plan is as follows:

€40 -> €750 - €10 stake (71bi profit)

€750 -> €3250 - €25 stake (100bi profit)

Withdraw €750

€2.5k -> €7.5k - €50 stake (100bi profit)

Withdraw €1500

€6k -> €16k - €100 stake (100bi profit)

Withdraw €1800

€14.2k -> €40k - €200 stake (129bi profit)

I'm actually on day 3 so far. The first couple of days have been really good, played some decent volume and ran well. The results are:

Day 1 bankroll - €150
Profit €110

Day 2 bankroll - €218
Profit €68

Day 3 bankroll (so far) - €299
Profit €81

I will add more info as the challenge goes along and will be updating daily (hopefully). I've mostly created this so I can potentially look back at the end of the year and relive it all but will be interesting to hear from others about potential strategy or those who might have done something similar themselves.

Thanks for reading! Good luck.

Finished day 3 on €432 for a lovely €214 profit for the day and had today off work so was 4 tabling for quite a few hours and managed to turn a lovely profit of €342 putting the bankroll at €774 and allowing me to grind some €25s which is pretty exciting so early on in the challenge. Not much else to add other than I feel like I'm playing really well and obviously running good.

Haha thanks mate.

Didn't get to play yesterday unfortunately but put in a solid grind today at the 25s with some decent results. The bankroll has gone to €1,039 from €774 so a nice profit of €265. Really feel comfortable at the 25s, making some good plays and the fish are going a bit spazzy at times which is lovely. I'm pretty impatient so wondering how long I'm going to want to grind the 25s for if I'm crushing and have room to play the 50s, trying to stay disciplined though!

Got some bills to pay in the next few days and really don't want to have to withdraw but if I get to say 1.6k+ I may take a few hundred out from what I would withdraw once I finish my step at the 25s.

Just a quick update as I ran really good (again lol) after posting the last update, ended up winning 10 in a row plus a few more this morning.

Day 5 bankroll - €1,392
Profit €592

Day 6 bankroll (so far) - €1,510
Profit €118

Got the girlfriend coming to mine in a bit so not sure how much volume I'll get in plus I want to play some PS4 for a bit to chill out before work tomorrow. Really happy with the grind so far obviously, the games are pretty soft but I'm also playing really well. It would be nice to get to a point in the not too distant future where I can be making a minimum of €1k+ per month on top of my job, especially as gambling winnings are tax free in the UK.

I am wondering if the games are soft whether I'm burning money by playing over-rolled for certain stakes. For example I could probably comfortably play the 50s with a roll of €1.5k-2k so I'm struggling to decide on the best time to move up. Maybe I'll start mixing them in with the 25s at 2k.

I appreciate the thread is rather dry at the moment, the site I use doesn't have tracking so can't post graphs but if I start building a good bankroll of high 4 figures or above then I will definitely be delving into more live events, online tournaments etc so I promise it'll get more interesting at some point

Yeh of course, I always could have deposited more if needed but €40 to €40k sounded good! Thanks though.

Managed to get in a decent session at the 50s when the gf went to bed. I decided to take a shot because I had 30bi and the 25s had been so soft meaning I could always rebuild with 40bi at the 25s if I lost 10bi at 50s.

A couple of funny hands..

1 - Reg (I think) who I've played a few times seems not great but competent. Neither of us have done anything spewy in our previous games. I open A2dd at 30bb, he flats and I cbet half pot on a Q65dxx, he flats. Turn Kd he now leads for 5.5bb into 8bb, after a few seconds I jam, he tanks and tanks then eventually calls with Q8hh lol. He holds. Absolutely no idea what he thinks that turn bet achieves given I rarely am ever going to go crazy with pure bluffs but will continue with all hands that beat his.

2 - First hand readless, btn opens at 33bb, I flat KT, flop AQJr. I c/r his c bet, he 3 bets, I click it back, he clicks it back so I flat. Turn 4, he jams for pot and shows A5. Gotta love the free €50 when someone is offering.

I know the thread has gone off on a tangent from the 500bi challenge but I'm happy to ride the run good and soft games while I can!

Day 6 bankroll - €1,923
Profit €531

What is your approx ROI% ? looks like with a 3% ROI, it would take 17000 games (that seems a lot of HUSNGs lol)

Do you expect your ROI to decreases while you move up stakes?

What is a good ROI for HUSNG? 3% ROI means you win 51.5% of games and loose 48.5% ?

No idea what my ROI is as my sample is not big enough but I would estimate it's probably around 10% at the 25s and yes it would decrease as I move up stakes. I'm yet to find a reg that I would ideally avoid at the 25/50s so I'm confident that even in the unlikely circumstance that I can't beat the higher stakes I could consistently make very good money playing lower.

A good ROI for HUSNG depends on the structure. On a pokerstars hyper turbo a 5-7% is awesome but on slower structures you can easily get higher ROI's.

Just look at how many games you can play. If you play 200 hypers per day at the $30s with a 3.3% ROI that's $1 per game x 200.

Urgh, really shouldn't have played today. Didn't get any volume in yesterday as was with the gf all night, was really tired from work today after only 4 hours sleep, went out for a few drinks and decided it was still a good idea to fire up tables at midnight. I somehow escaped with a profit but I felt like I was playing really bad, making lazy calls when I knew I was beat being the worst aspect of my play.

Anyway, I have 5 days off now, hoping to get some good volume in but we'll see.

Day 8 bankroll - €2100
Profit - N/A

Day 9 bankroll - €2346
Profit €246

My goals for the week are as follows:

- Not to move up to 100s until I have a 4k bankroll
- Prioritising poker over PS4
- Quit if playing poorly/tired

Will update more when I'm not so tired.

Quite proud of myself, despite a small losing session I am happy that I have come here to vent as opposed to continue playing when getting a bit tilted, something I don't normally do at the tables after playing poker for so many years. A really frustrating session today, played a couple of guys who played like regs but it's hard to judge how good they actually were because they were just full of aggression and I was getting the worst spots against these guys, lots of middle and bottom pairs. The issue with this is you feel obligated to continue against relentless aggression but they were often showing up with the goods and it really ****s with your head because one half of you says that it's not possible they have it every time but you rarely see otherwise.

Quick break before I get back to the grind. The roll is around 2.3k which is fine and I'm sticking to the 50s at the moment. Need to refocus...

Pretty much went against all of my good work by playing tired last night and throwing in a couple of 100s, lost a few BIs at 50s/100s so the roll was down to 2k and decided to cash out 1250 to pay off the last of my loans meaning I shouldn't have to withdraw in future unless I really want to. I've left myself 750 in the account to rebuild at the 25s and get some confidence back, yesterday was just a complete mind****. Ended up playing some regs in the evening session as well and just felt like I was getting the ****tiest spots ever.

For example vs one reg he was generally betting flops in position, checking back turn and getting a 2nd street of value from my weaker one pair hands on the river. To counter this instead of fast playing my strong one pair hands I had the intention of just calling down which would hopefully lead him to be more cautious with say 2nd pair on the river going forward.

Here's what happened in reality:

He limps at 22bb, I check J4o
Flop J87ss
I check/call 1bb
Turn 3c
I check/call 3.5bb
River 2h
I check, he shoves for 17.5bb

It's such an annoying spot because he's not shown this kind of aggression through 3 streets before but on the other hand it's one of those where I've intentionally underrepresented my hand so feel like I am obligated to call. A reg will know that I am unlikely to play T9 this way, nor two pair hands due to the wet nature of the board so it's easy for him to exploit my passiveness if he believes I am incapable of calling with one pair hands. In hindsight the more I think about it the more I like calling (I folded) but I was having one of those sessions where if I call he shows up with J8 and I just feel like a ****.

Thoughts?

Struggling with volume this week, feeling really lazy but back to running good and the games at the 25s are a lot easier.

Ended up leaving €800 in the account after withdrawing the €1.25k and started grinding the 25s again with some good success.

Results are as follows:

Day 10 bankroll - €2050
Loss €296

Day 11 bankroll - €1005
Profit €205
€1250 total withdrawals

Day 12 bankroll - €1284
Profit €279

Total profit €2504

Going out for drinks tonight so will hopefully get some good volume in tomorrow but will likely be hungover.

Good luck all and if anyone is reading please drop a comment!

Great that you are withdrawing and still have enough to play a decent stake

what stake do you want to/ is the highest stake you can be playing for this challenge?

Hope it's still going well for you
