Anyway gl with the future!
Just started to play 10p ante cash games everyday at school, started then online, lost at first, then broke even, then beat the game gradually, and then beat it nearly everyday. Just playing a lot, never watched a video or read forums. Read my first poker book 2 months ago actually, Dusty Schmidt's "Treat your poker like a business" - which is a great book, every bit of it important info.

No problem, will do one/two each session now I know how to

I have only in the past week reviewed my hands, never before. And yeah, i just look at the big pots, think how I could have played them different etc.

A winning player can play anything from around 19/16 to 37/33 stats to be honest. And the higher limits you play, in the main, the higher stats you will need to combat the other's aggressive playing style. Also, as you go up in stakes, especially at 2knl, there will often be games just 3-4 handed your VPIP/PFR will have to be increased.

I'll filter my stats for you for when the table has x players at it:

When there are 5 players: 29.9/25.4
When there are 4 players: 34.7/29.9
When there are 3 players: 43.5/39.6
Heads up: 70.5/66.2

Thanks. I think the importance of concepts would vary depending on which level you're playing at. At the stakes I am playing at the moment, I think the ability to put people on a range of hands and the way in which the board texture changes as the hand progresses are big factors. Playing as much as possible in position will help alot too. At the lower levels people will play their cards a lot more, check 'scare' cards a lot more, etc, missing out on value. Once you can put the opponent on a hand (range) you can get value from a lot more hands than you would otherwise.

A big influence? I love money.

I think my game is more based on the hand reading. Ofc i know all the maths, the simple side of it all, but never used this "stove" people talk about. Maths is only needed when you're required to call a bet into a pot. Also need to incorporate implied odds into it all also. If i know a player has no respect for my all-ins and will call me down very light, i'll be calling a lot more for my draws than i would vs a nit.

Books - all are probably useful and cover the same aspects. As I mentioned I like Dusty Schmidt's "Treat your Poker like a Business".

Pretty interesting read soo far. Subscrippled. Redline is insane,,,, i can't even start to comprehend how you sustain that over 100K+ hands.

Look forward to seeing how this progresses!

Do you mind if i ask how many hands you put in at the diff steaks when moving up or did u just skip levels??? and what did you start your BR with?

Also, as you started out playing live...in 5years.. which part of your game do thinks will be stronger Live or Online????

Well for some reason I have these insane runs where I literally can win 30 buy-ins in a day at a stake, whether it be Nl600 or Nl2k. So it took maybe 5000 hands to move up a level for me.

I originally started playing at school as I said, then built a bankroll up to like £200k, then on Jan 4th I lost around £120,000 on online roulette, and the other £75,000 on some donk sports betting, one being a £40k in play on a Premier League game. Decided enough was enough, time to take it all serious so I grinded the £5,000 i had to my name up from Jan 5th this year to now.

Online will always be stronger for me. My live tells etc are not great, and I get bored playing live so end up raising like 80% of pots 9 handed.

Today was pretty zzz, no 2k tables ran, and few 1k's. Grinded out nearly 4k hands, showing a profit of £1036 for the day. Ran pretty bad too, Aces aipf vs 77 and JJ no good either.

Day is finished now as i'm gonna go start drinking with mates. Will be back at the tables tomorrow.

After day 7:
Profit/Loss = + £36, 495

Graph so far:

Running at a rate a little over £1/hand. For my last approx 200k hands i've ran at this rate also so if history is anything to go by this challenge could be over around the 500k hand mark...

Quick update of day 8:
Played a lot of hands - made little progress. Grinded profits on 1k and 2k to just have the poker gods own me at 5k. Ended I think down ~£6-7k. The run of 7 winning days in a row is over

After day 8 profit is: + £27, 369

wow, with essentially no studying etc. you have these winrates.
thought that was imposiblle these days, with everyone saying how hard it is etc, especially at these levels.

also if you want a tip for an interesting book - read The Poker Mindset, this book is really good

Btw, My Holdem Manager is playing up on me today. Started off fine, then it wasn't importing hands, then it closed, and I tried to open it back up but it just insta-closes down on me when it loads up - it won't stay open.

Anyone know what to do when this happens?

I'm really impressed by the fact that you haven't read any pokerbooks or watched any videos and yet managed to make it to play the highstakes.
Could you maybe elaborate on how you achieved this ?
Did you get like a lot of coaching ? Or did you figured alot of game theory stuff out on your own ?

Good luck with achieving your goals.

Just play a lot - always ask yourself your questions and try to come up with answers as to why people do stuff. Once you've got in your opponents head then it becomes a lot easier...

Never been coached, self taught I guess.

Did you recently updated your windows7 ? I read something on the HEM forums that other people were having problems due win7 update..
