Hello everyone!

I've been playing poker for about 8 years now, mostly recreationally and occasionally 1/2 at the local casino. I've never kept track of my bankroll and stats or used a HUD before for online games, but overall in live games I was a small winner on very small volume (about 2700 up in 1/2). I was also able to grind 50 dollars into 2000 in online poker small stakes before spewing it all in one night at 2/5 early in 2013.

With the current crisis, I've been working from home and making music as a hobby but still find myself with a couple hours of free time a day. After playing a home game online with some friends, the poker craving struck and I finally went in on a HUD and will keep track of my stats so I can learn more about the game.

I'll be playing on ACR and have deposited an initial bankroll of $1400. I plan to start at .25/.50 and we'll see where it goes from there.

Rules:

20 buy ins to play in cash game
No more than 3 lost buy ins a night

Weekly Goals:

Daily hand analysis updates of 2-3 interesting hands
Daily analysis of lost hands on my own
Weekly graph updates
2,000 hands

Non-Poker Weekly Goals:

Finish a new music track
Exercising at home

Well, after starting on .25/.50 for awhile and grinding a few days, I couldn't handle the stack sizes.. I guess I've been too used to 1/2 but it was really hard to adjust to the smaller sizes and find the thrill of poker that I've been itching for during quarantine. I did end up in .25/.50, I just felt bored playing there and grinding for the stake sizes. I felt the hours were wasted when I could've been producing music and seeing (+xxx.xx) over a few hours or (-xx.xx) felt very "unreal" in a sense. I've played live .25/.50 at home games and always had fun but something about it being online and small stakes made it feel grueling.

So..... at the opposite of the advice of everybody ever, I decided to move up to 1/2 short handed zoom as I had a few bullets and play there. I felt a lot more comfortable with bet sizing and stacks and had no issues making what I thought was the "correct" play most of the time.

I'm at about 2,300 hands in 1/2 zoom now. It seems a few hands were dropped or I must've gotten some rakeback rewards since the numbers don't align exactly, but things are going... ok.

I started off with a large downswing and some bad luck, getting stacked with some set over sets, and river gutterballs. I can share those hands if people like to see some suck-outs. I also analyzed and noticed I was paying off way too many hands that I felt I was beat on but "needed" to see the proof and evidence that my reads were right.

I ended up with a downswing of about -800 with only two buyins left and AIEV running about 400 worse in only 1000 hands. Instead of moving down limits though, I decided to just load up my last two bullets and try to tighten up some of the leaks I had been noticing in my game.

Leaks I noticed through hand history:

3 betting too light to steal blinds
Defending blinds too often
Betting button with too loosely
Calling down river too light or even if I know I am beat because I'm curious on my opponents hole cards and why he took a certain line
VPIP/PFR too high

I tightened these up a bit and then ran on the hottest run I've had since leaving 1/2 casino live with 1,300 in one night. I still had some bad luck - losing AA to QQ preflop AI with a Q hitting on the river and flopping the nut flush with A5ss which turned into a 4 spade board, and my opponent reraising me on the river and my wifi subsequently going out before could reraise him all in. I tried connecting on mobile but my timebank had already run out, making me lose about 130. Overall though, I ended up +2.15k on the night and had a bunch of solid hands on review that I was proud of.

The two biggest hands of the night were 3 handed AI preflop, me with AA, the other two both with AK, sweeping about 700 in one hand. Second hand was flopping bottom set and turning a boat and getting a fold on the river for about 400ish. Also had one set over set that felt nice.. a bit of revenge.

Can share graphs or big win hands/interesting hands/suck-out hands if anyone is interested. Overall I'm still running 200ish under EV but the fact that it closed up in such few hands makes it nothing to complain about.

Current Bankroll: 2512.01 (+1180.92)

Appreciate it Skeety! Had some more good run today in the morning and my withdrawal of $800 from CarbonPoker (no traffic on that site at all even though the games didn't feel too tough) bitcoin finally arrived so my bankroll is sitting 3376.61 now. (+1245.52 from poker)

As far as money set aside for poker not on poker sites, I have willingly set aside another $4000 on the side in my savings as I recently sold some vested stock and BRM for 1/2 should be at least 20x. As it takes awhile to withdraw/deposit, I will only deposit more as needed.

I'd like to get some hand analysis done early this evening and hopefully another 1000-1500 hands before sleeping.

Probably can lay this down here. I did feel I was ahead before the river came but it doesn't justify the call.

Changing focus from $ to BB helps me move through lower stakes appropriate for bankroll.

That's a great idea, I think I am rolled for .50/1 but the volume at that stake is so low in terms of players and table count. It looks like either .25/.50 or 1/2 and I'm thinking of moving back down after some good run.

After looking through the statistics in PT4 and the leak buster (which I know isn't that accurate), I've lowered my VPIP and PFR a lot to reasonable rates and find that I'm not losing with the second best hand as often or put in tough situations. Also finding that the HUD helps more and more as data grows and I continue to add notes to the regs that I keep playing against. When I first started using it, I barely looked at it and generally played on auto pilot but I find myself taking 20-30 seconds going through and thinking most hands now.

One thing I noticed in the last session is I'm having trouble getting full value out of made hands OOP. Meaning if I hit the flush or the straight that I'm drawing for and paying for pre-flop, I should be extracting maximum value to justify calling some raises. I am checking too often with these made hands expecting villain to aggro fire into turn/rivers and am getting checked back with smaller pots. However I also am not trying to induce a re-raise shove all in against something that is like a middle flush or lower straight like 78 on a 9TJ board putting myself a tough position. Any advice on what's a good way to go about this out of position?

Things to keep improving on:

Not calling too light on the river; no leveling into river calls
Trying to keep notes of re-steals from the blinds
Getting value out of the nuts or made hands

H1 I would not iso these garbola combos, would prefer linear top heavy, good playability post but not really neccessary to balance vs droolers

H2 gift

H3 flatting 2x this is not going to yield v much EV, more cold calls specifically on BU vs UTG dependent on rake structure because UTG's strong range protects us from more squeezes, but this is not an awesome situation and 3betting or folding RFI is going to outperform this strategy which also splits your ranges up post and is hard to balance. AP I would prefer smaller cbet vs 2 ranges as UTG is range checking and board does coordinate with BB defends quite well. turn / river fine, we will have to call some 2 pairs

This cant end well. I'm a 50nl blitz reg whos taken shots at 200nl blitz, and by reading your hand histories I doubt youre a winner at 50nl blitz, and youll be a massive spot at 200nl blitz. If you dont have the discipline to take 50nl seriously because its not big enough or whatever, you just dont have what it takes to beat 200nl blitz.

H1 - Makes sense. I want to play those combos in multi-way pots, not iso. I've been using these types of hands to raise to try to steal blinds but still have some playability post flop but with one behind on the button, would you just limp?

H3 - Thinking this hand through, the hand plays well multi-way but cold calling puts us in situations with squeezes. 3betting gives us more information and if he 4bets it's an easy fold. If he calls the 3bet and we c bet the flop I think there's a higher chance he folds as well. If he calls though I think we're stuck in the same situation. It's interesting to think about it. I'm leaning towards thinking 3betting is the better play here.

.
tbh these hands are trash 100bb deep. I would be tighter cutoff vs UTG as well, as we still have 3 players left to act, but I would not overlimp, I don't really have an overlimping range in any position as getting equity denied is a really bad thing to happen in NLHE with $0 initially invested if button isos or some sequence where we are shut out of realizing / doesn't allow us to immediately win pot or barrel effectively post.

so : awesome that you are not overlimping, but you can be tight in this situation and try to use a more top heavy linear range

Couple of rough days at work and haven't been able to get too much volume in. At about 6,000 hands with 3,000 at 1/2. Will try to get some more hands in this weekend but have a remix contest due in 4 days as well so need to finish up a track.

Analysis wise for myself, VPIP is down to 24 from 33ish earlier and continuing to tighten up my range. River calls and winning at show down percentage also slowly getting to better spots.

Was pretty sure he had JJ or QQ after the shove but for 90 into 450 I'm not sure I can make the fold. Not sure what other hands he could have made the shove with besides maybe TJdd, AKdd. I've caught him bluffing on the river with the nuts in prior hands, he has a VPIP of 29 over 400ish hands and PFR of 25. Tagged him as a squeezer in blind spots.

Hand 2

Hero (BTN): $333.18

SB bets $90.36, Hero raises to $257.38 and is all-in, fold

Hero wins $331.32

This has gotta be leveling spew more often than not but few reasonings for my play.

1) VPIP of 30 with PFR of 26, 3 bet of 12 and tagged him stealing multiple times from the SB when I opened
2)Flop bet sizing and preflop raise were strange
3) Turn brought an open ended straight draw as well as the 2 which I felt were outs - 10 outs and also was ready to reraise/shove on the river if the board paired.
4) Felt I could get him off his range which could be overpair/high pair or TPTK/TPGK

I played 1/2 Blitz on mobile for 3 hours yesterday night and none of the hands are syncing.. I finished the session at 785 up from 240 and it's annoying me pretty badly that the mobile hand syncer isn't working to pull the history. I tried a few hands again this morning and it did sync those when I pressed sync mobile hands but now I'm wondering how often my mobile data wasn't synced previously. For reference my bankroll is sitting at 2800 but PT4 shows 2350. ACR Hand history folder is missing data from 5/15 10 pm to 130 AM. Yea I know I probably shouldn't be playing on mobile without HUD and etc but tagging the regs with notes/colors on mobile has been solid and I'm starting to recognize most of the player names after playing a lot of hands. And sometimes, you're not in the right place to play on your laptop/pc.

No idea where this entire session is, can't find it in the trackers.

Nonetheless after rackback, rewards, and The Beast of about $150 more, I'm sitting at a bankroll of 2.8k in ACR (up from 1400 initial) and 4k in my savings allocated for poker/live games once casinos open up again.

Net profit is 1.1k from 1/2 blitz at about 4.5k hands now I'd guess. I may look into switching networks if the hand history is unreliable as looking further into this I've been noticing others complaining about hand history missing. There were other hands in previous sessions I had trouble finding but this is the first session that I've had entirely missing.

Are there any other networks that allow for HUDs and are not anonymous? I would prefer avoiding Bovada but if that is the most consistent maybe I will have to go back..

Carbon Poker traffic is way too small otherwise their interface was solid also.

Relatively uneventful day besides that above hand - ended up 700ish on the night besides getting stacked on the AK vs K4 hand.

https://imgur.com/a/7FOGK1H

@Dochrohan - no I just thought it was weird that K4 is in the hand when limping, then getting 3bet, calling, then getting 4 bet and flatting. He only has 2 dollars in the pot, then calls 25 more (12 BB), then calls 90 more (45BB) with K4dd.

I guess Kx suited makes sense that some people would play. I also only had 3 hands of data against him after playing 1/2 every night the past 3 weeks in blitz. As played pre I would also call the shove with K pair if I was him

Running pretty bad - some tough hands to get away from yesterday/today morning

Quick summary of tough hands:

AK vs KK preflop 4 bet flat with an AK5 flop losing full stack
QQ vs AK preflop losing all in full stack
KK vs AQ preflop calling villain shove losing 200 hitting A on the river
KK losing to A7 3 bet on a double barrel with an A on the river going x/x
KK losing to AK preflop all in losing 160
QQ vs KK 4 bet, villain flats, villain only had 80 left in a 130 dollar pot, flop came 258 r, I'm first to act and shove, he calls with KK

Some missed combo draws in multi-way big pots

KJdd on QT5 dd flop not hitting on 3 way 200 dollar pot
KJss on 8QT ss flop not hitting on 150 dollar pot

Currently running $600 below EV in 7,000 hands. I understand it's not the best stat but still.. Bankroll is at $2,400. Definitely was on tilt yesterday and made some bad calls and plays, need to stop myself from playing once I hit 3 BI.

I'll share graphs at end of each month, I'm in a thread with ACR support to pick up some hands that were missed, missing a lot of all in hands and some dates weren't able to be picked up. Should be about 10,000 hands by end of the month and I want to get more volume next month.

Heater of a night and my EV chart has evened out! I'm now sitting at 3,500 bankroll (up about 2.1k), still need to get more volume but am looking at about 10,000 hands by the end of the month.

That's in line with my weekly goal of 2,000 hands per week started on 5/6/20 and I'm happy with the volume. I did a solid amount of analysis and have changed my game a good amount in line with the leak tracker on PT4. All of the lines are now in the green portion - probably doesn't mean much but I'm happy that I was able to plug some clear big leaks. In general, I'm finding the fold button a lot more often and making plays in better spots, playing less hands and doing more thinking in each hand.

In regards to other goals - I ended up finishing two tracks only this month and am not on pace to finish the third. I had wanted to do 4 or 5 this month but got caught up with poker after work more often than not. But I do want to get as many hands in as possible while it doesn't feel like work and is still fun to play. Exercise hasn't been great, I only worked out twice since 5/6/20 and both times was tired as hell and sore for a few days!! I've been looking to order a power rack for home but they've been sold out of everywhere due to corona.. more updates & hand histories later this week + graphs once I hit 10k/end of month.

Damn, they play the same at 200nl (or worse) on ACR, than 25nl on Ignition. Gotta watch those shoves. A little more gto study might help here.

i got really drunk last night while running a stack of 240 up to 850ish and decided to do the stupidest thing i've done while playing the past month and take a shot a 3/6. since there was no games at 3/6 i sat down at 5/10 with 1000. i ran it up to 1750 in about 15 minutes. i told myself i'd quit once i hit 1800. kept pressing sit out next bb and then pressing i'm back immediately. picked up ak and made a 4 bet and ran into a shove. folded because i didn't want a flip situation for my whole stack. got whittled down for a couple hands, won some more hands, ended up with this situation

BTN: $1,000.00
Hero (SB): $1,251.37
BB: $395.00
UTG: $535.00
MP: $1,156.37
CO: $2,474.38

Hero posts SB $5.00, BB posts BB $10.00

Pre Flop: (pot: $15.00) Hero has Ks Kd
UTG raises to $22.50, fold, fold, BTN raises to $67.50, Hero raises to $235.00, fold, fold, BTN calls $167.50

Flop : ($502.50, 2 players) 7s 7c Js
Hero bets $251.25, BTN raises to $765.00 and is all-in, Hero calls $513.75

Turn : ($2,032.50, 2 players) 2h

River : ($2,032.50, 2 players) Qs

BTN shows Qd Qc (Full House, Queens full of Sevens)
(Pre 18%, Flop 8%, Turn 5%)

Hero shows Ks Kd (Two Pair, Kings and Sevens)
(Pre 82%, Flop 92%, Turn 95%)

BTN wins $2,029.50

i figured he didn't have AA because of the flat preflop on the 4 bet but i feel absolutely disgusting at this. not at the suck-out, he could've easily had JJ there flatting a 4 bet and i'd be way behind too, just at how stupid it was and degenerate gambling to play at 5/10 when i only have 40 buyins at 1/2. even though it was mostly profits from last night i feel like i'm not really in control and made a terrible decision to sit at 5/10 and to not sit out once i binked a set in my first couple hands. i could've ended the night up a ton and instead ended up down a few hundred. i'm considering cashing out the rest of my bankroll while i'm still up and quitting online for a while because it was such a stupid thing to do. had trouble sleeping last night. im glad i didn't play more and end up killing my whole roll and i'm still up overall but holy **** this is such a buzzkill for me. i usually never drink and play live so i don't know what i was thinking.

Always play when your drunk, it enhances your instinct.

Haven't updated in awhile. Good news is that I'm not totally negative. I was able to get in my goal of 10,000 hands at 1/2 this month:

There was a hand at around 7100 hands that flipped my EV from even to up 500. Have it tracked here:

BTN: $240.00
Hero (SB): $266.00
BB: $295.77
UTG: $151.24
MP: $285.83
CO: $280.89

Hero posts SB $1.00, BB posts BB $2.00

Pre Flop: (pot: $3.00) Hero has Qd Td
fold, MP raises to $6.00, fold, fold, Hero calls $5.00, fold

Flop : ($14.00, 2 players) Kd Jh 4d
Hero checks, MP bets $9.50, Hero calls $9.50

Turn : ($33.00, 2 players) 5c
Hero checks, MP bets $28.75, Hero calls $28.75

River : ($90.50, 2 players) 9h
Hero checks, MP bets $56.25, Hero raises to $221.75 and is all-in, MP calls $165.50

Hero shows Qd Td (Straight, King High)
(Pre 19%, Flop 40%, Turn 30%)

MP shows Kh Ks (Three of a Kind, Kings)
(Pre 81%, Flop 60%, Turn 70%)

Hero wins $531.00

Lucked out, thought I had a bit more equity there but also didn't put him at the top of his range. The graph is 1/2 only so the 5/10 punt isn't included

Not sure what to think of the month but I can definitely tell some days I wasn't playing at my A-game. There were a lot of spew nights that I could've saved some money. Need to reevaluate my emotional control as a whole

Small update - been crazy couple days in the US and I've been glued to Twitter and talking to friends about the protests and riots going on. Haven't been playing as much poker as I wanted but started again the past few days.

Bankroll: 5085; Profit: ~3300 (hard to tell what is from rakeback/rewards)

Also I played a few HUSNG and there was a freeroll Sunday tournament that I cashed for a few hundred. I've noticed that a lot of hands go missing from ACR and they don't respond back or they do with broken hand histories that don't import perfectly to ACR (50% of them fail because some streets are written incorrectly..)

From PT4 it shows $2570.48 profits over 57 hours from cash games.

I'll go through some hand analysis later and post interesting hands from past few days, I can't think of anything in my mind besides a few set over sets that played out as expected.
