Sup guys, 31 year old ex semi-professional player here. Played poker since 2005 and have always been a cashgame grinder. In my 'old' poker career I played up to 200NL when the games were easy. But never really played professional as my mental game was not perfect and other real-life opportunities came into play.

The last 5 years I haven't played much poker at all, mainly focusing on my work and other hobby's like football (soccer for the americano's). But now I'm back with a little challenge. Trying to build up $50 into a free vacation this summer for me and my girlfriend

The most important goal for me is not the money though, it's to just have fun and see where this thing goes.

Quick little update: Haven't played much last week. Busy with work and other life stuff. I put in a session yesterday, was a good session. This is the graph since the beginning of the challenge, obviously need to put in more volume. Hopefully I can play some more hands in the upcoming week, apart from christmas ofcourse.

Update: Decided to take a shot at 10NL a couple of days ago when I was at $160 BR. Played regular tables because they are softer and had some good sessions. Volume could be better but I have been running/playing pretty good and almost doubled my BR since last update.

Anyways, back to the grinding

Update: played a couple of short sessions. Currently in a bit of a breakeven stretch but managed to win of couple of buyins. Definitely didn't play my A-game in some spots, will need to improve on that.

One other thing I wanted to ask you guys is; how to study poker off the table? I'm looking for ways to study/improve my game. I currently do HH/database reviews, I do some equity training in equilab and some range analysis in flopzilla.

Do you guys know other effective ways to study and improve 6max play? Would love to know!

#1: Not sure about preflop, flop is standard or not?




#2: Again, not sure about preflop vs a guy with 25/21 (9% 3bet, 22% 4bet) and other aggro stats. On the flop I think we shove profitably(?!)




#3: VS 21/17 / 2.4AF reg. Usually I 3bet JJ pre but decided not to this hand, mistake? Flop is weird as he decided to c/r me. On the river the flushdraw misses and I decided to call. Any thoughts of this hand?

Quick update: In a bit of a breakeven stretch/going down a little. Played my B-game last week and played a little bit better the last few days but results-wise I'm still not making any progress. No worries tho, I feel that if I keep playing good, results will come.

What's up guys updating after a couple of sessions. After a breakeven stretch I'm winning again. Won about 13 buyins in the last 3 days. Feel like I'm getting the hang of grinding again, making less mistakes and being more confident overall. Probably gonna try 16nl next week, mixing it with 10nl tables.

I'm back after a month of being staked. The staking wasn't a great success, basicly ended breakeven but it was a nice opportunity.

Anyway, I'm back at Stars and will be grinding 10nl again and will be taking small shots at 16nl regular tables.

Feb overview: Only played the last 2 weeks of February after being staked. Not too happy with the volume, so that's gonna be a goal for next month. Overall I think I played decent and moved up to 16nl where I feel comfortable.

Just had a small session, played terrible so I quit early. Was kinda tired after yesterday. Games were good tho, but I guess they will be good tomorrow too. Have to stop the hero-calling and making fancy plays.

Update after one year of not posting:
Lost interest last year because of breakeven results. Decided to focus more on work and working out We did have a nice vacation to Spain, and I'll be going to Curaçao in April with family

In December I decided to start playing zoom again on Pokerstars.es with mediocre results

But I've moved back to Stars.eu with $300 and I'll try to get this thread going again, hopefully with better results.

I know I can crush the micro's with a better mindset so that will be the focus. First goals for the next 12 days (till end of January)
