Dude, I love you too. That is, I mean, in a non-gay yet friendly sorta cautious perhaps even hyper-vigilant sort of way. Since you ask, I do need some help. Can I have your one time? Let's face it, I need it and you're probably just saving it for something selfish ... like the WSOP main event or something.

Continued run bad at the 3.50's. This is tonight's garph. Overall I am $75 under aiev at the 3.50's and $60 under across all stakes. When will this end?

BR = $56

And session in which I run good. Not great, but at least a little bit over aiev. 29 games, mostly 3.50's and +$16 so ...

BR = $72

Awesome thread for an awesome cause.
I Definitely recommend husng.com, they have lots of free content on there for low stakes HUSNG players.

Run good

Thanks, Jamie.

I've been swamped with a nasty project at work that will last until this weekend. Last night was my first session this month. Still running bad at the 3.50's ... if it keeps up I might just skip that level and play 1.50's and 7's. 10 buy-ins is decent BRM for hypers, right?

Well, I just finished my crazy work project so now I can hopefully start to focus on this challenge again. I've played 34 games so far this month, LOL. Time to grind with only six weeks remaining. Here's my graph for the challenge to date ... thank god for rake back.

BR = $65

Twenty-some games and ran just above aiev. Made a little money ... time to try to get back on track.

About to start the grind but thought I'd take a minute for a pre-sesh note. I played a few more games after my last update and now stand at BR= $97. There's a problem though. My frustration over run bad at the 3.50's and some impatience to get this challenge back on track after losing almost 3 weeks to my work schedule has led me to stray from my already aggressive BRM. I've been playing 7s regularly and even played a couple of 15s. This is a problem I've had in the past and I need to break that cycle. Playing higher stakes because losing a week or two from my target schedule seems unacceptable always ends in disaster. The attempt to "get there" faster always has the opposite result.

Consider this post my promise to stick to my BRM for this challenge. I will only play 3.50s until $105 and will then move to a mix of 3.50/7s, etc. Now, time to grind.

Played 40 games including 10 @ $7.50. Ran above ev and made a few buck instead of losing a bunch. Not sure if I was playing badly or just bad card distribution. Definitely a couple of spots I misplayed but it wasn't horrible. Anyway, I finally ended a session over a hundred and am now playing 3.50s and 7.50s.

Another mini-session @ ABI $5.25 and a little more run good. Slowly getting back on track but damn it I need to find time to get some volume in. Will post some HHs and graphs later.

Well, I'm getting close to the BR to take a first shot at dropping the 3.50s and just playing 7s. My 3.50s graph below says this is a very good thing.

Jinxed myself with the post above this . Played a 25 game session @ ABI $5.25 and it was just chock full of bad set ups, hitting top 'o villain ranges and bad all-in luck. Was down about 9-10bi but turned up a bit toward the end to finish down only 5bi ... woohoo.

I am sad to say this challenge will need to be put in hold for a bit.

RIP Dad

I have three requests for anyone reading this thread:
1- call your parents and let them know you love them
2- if you smoke, think about quitting
3- if you find yourself with a little extra cash, consider a donation to a food pantry or soup kitchen in your area in honor of Karma Sr.

Thank you.

The last week or so was marked by the sudden death of my dad, his funeral and all the horror, guilt, exhaustion and heartache that comes with making final arrangements for a loved one ... followed immediately by fleeing a hurricane.

I am finally back home with all the modern comforts like electricity, running water and, yes, internet access and I desperately want my old life back. So, I am restarting my challenge tonight but I think I am going to push the end date back to January 1st 2013 so I can try to make a run at something at least sort of special. I may play for a bit longer tonight but so far we are 14 games in and running hot at +$43 ...

Any thoughts on this hand? I think I need to lead the flop but my big question is how you play this river.

I played a short 20 game session last night and finished with a small profit. It's my first since Thursday because I had house guests over the weekend. I am going to be away Thurs-Tues so I'll have to pick up my volume once I get back. At least I dragged my AIEV line into positive territory for the 7's. I will have to download some hyper vids from HUSNG.com to watch on the plane. I have to start studying more to keep that graph going up.

My $7 giraffe for challenge to date (yes, not terribly impressive):

Modifying the Challenge:
Let's make it official, I am extending this challenge to January 1st 2013. Between the sudden death of my father, the hurricane and a hellish work project I've played less than 200 games since October 1st so I think it's a valid extension. It's a charity challenge, FFS. As long as money gets donated at the end I could really care less what people think

I am going to keep $1000 as my goal for ending BR, meaning I will grind $500 for charity. To hit that goal I will need to maintain a 3% ROI and play 800-1000 games/month. This assumes 20/15 or 25/18 BRM for the remainder of the challenge. I am sure 1k games/month doesn't sound like much to most of you but between a more than full-time job and my young child, it's a stretch for me.

I will make a $100 donation to Adopt-A-Family near the end of this month so they have some cash when they need it most but I won't take it out of my BR until Jan. 1st. At the end of the challenge, I will withdraw half my BR minus the $100 already donated and send that amount to AAF and/or another worthwhile charity.

Here's a chart showing where I am now and the path to BR $1K. Wish me luck.

Last night was just not my night luck-wise. Worse, I was becoming frustrated and losing focus in the second half of the session. I have to do a better job of recognizing that and either taking a break to cool down or, if that's not possible, just ending the session early. It's pretty easy to say 'I ran 6bi under aiev' but that's part of the game you can't control. The real story for me was this: 'I stopped playing a +ev game somewhere near the middle of my session.' That is something I can and should control.
