Quite tilted, had to stop because I said I'd cook steak for breakfast the night before (so had a time limit). About a 2.5 hour session heads up $10/20 PLO. Villain was average-bad, I'd be okay with battling him for very long sessions. As you can tell by the graph, it was kinda a nitty game but I don't mind. Anyways I ended up destroying my own EV by river jamming 2nd nut into arguably the worst river ever (went for the value). I'll look it up after food if it was GTO approved.

ANyways less than 1 buy-in loss and above "EV" I guess. So not even gonna complain. $504 rake is good though. I have a feeling today I can push for $2k rake paid.

HH: once he donk leads us, you can 1/2 pot to full pot back. GTO doesn't care too much given stack depths. Same applies on turn. In fact, it prefers smaller than full pot UNLESS you have clubs as backup. Then it's 100% pot at like 70% frequency if we change our hand to even more nutted.

The real question, do we value bet river against an opponent who checked to us when the straight comes in on the river. And the answer is yes. Go for gold.

Btw, villain is supposed to lead here 100% of the time. If I had like KQJTcc, I'm never value betting this river. I probably should've simmed that now that I think about it, I'll rerun it later... If top set is a value bet here, can we extend it to KQ? What do you think?

Graph of day:

Towards the end of the session started another HU match cus someone was talking **** (but mostly because he has fish stats), but he pretty much dodged after 50-60 hands. I would say he ran fairly well against me (I also did pot river bluff twice and he heroed correctly).

Anyways rake paid: $1452.67 in 576 hands
Running $3k above EV, feels good. But not as good as the $5k above earlier!

Tomorrow will conclude Week 2 of the challenge. I'll post overall graph then.

#comeback from earlier HU this morning.

Thanks glad you enjoy the thread!

As for the steak (I'm pretty rookie since I used to just order in all the time), I started recently timing down from 6 minutes to 4.5 minutes generally because I pick slightly thinner slabs and I enjoy semi-bloody rare. Flipping each side every minute and going with the gordan ramsay approach of infinite butter and basing it.

Alrighty 8am, let's get in a good morning session today and boost up this graph. Gotta stop in 3 hours so definitely perfect for heads up since my brain is pretty slow for that game.

I was told this guy was a pro, but on the lower winning end of the pool. Anyways I got beef with him, so we played HU for 3 hours.

The blue line of doom kicked in. It was not fun.

He almost BBJ'ed me without having a BBJ for HU games....

Today's Graph:

Had a 3 hour morning HU. A few hours in afternoon. And about 1 hour before midnight being borderline tipsy (but still on top of it imho) because action fish in game.

Rake paid: $1,879, def a good amount, but reflecting on the past few days and lack of volume due to life duties, gg. Maybe with odds I could push through.

Good comeback from morning session and small upswing!

Started at like 8am open sitting HU, played against like 3-5 villains. Got beef as usual (they just luuuuuvvvv to throw emjois) which doesnt tilt tilt me, but certainly bugs me. Anyways told one guy lets HU for 3-4 hours. He accepts (but dodges after winning $800). He comes back about 2 hours later, sits me. And I grind his $2k down to $500. Which he doubles and doubles back after getting incredibly lucky (18% river after calling 70% stack on turn). He then also checks it to me, which I'm sure makes me bet river (according to GTO). Anyways eventually stacked him though. #feltgreat

Finally running alright in HU matches. Very good rake. Day isn't done. Will start another grind tonight. For now gotta eat breakfast and head out to costco.

Here's everything up till Week 2 of challenge. We are ~half way through this. Rake paid is lacking and as expected, we're on target for only $40k rake paid.

On track to $100k month.

HH analysis for our HU session will prob be analyzed tomorrow or something.

so you can print like a mfer and the red line never sees the upper half. Is it even possible to get that up there? #totalcashnoob

There's lots of explanations of red/blue line, but it really just depends on your approach to the game and its meta. For instance I could purposefully play in a way to make my red line higher than it is (jam river with absolute nuts and never get called).

Personally I think I'm more often than not running bad / stuck in the short term if my red is positive (finding spots to bluff throughout the game but overall just losing at showdown).

Here's my last 3 days of the HU session isolated by itself w/o other games. Red line up, blue down.

I actually don't think my HU game is strong enough to beat this rake format against any decent opponent. Paying $2400 in rake in 1k hands is a lot... but there's rakeback, so I kinda win under this circumstance. Biased but I think I ran pretty poorly given my blue line is just straight down.

Here's the hand analysis owed from yesterday. $10/20 PLO HU.

Villain after 3betting me (population villain only 3bets AA-KK unless proven otherwise), checks this flop. As he should. On this board, it's gonna be really hard for him to contest me and I can put him into rough shape on most turn (so preplanning to stack off on almost any run out). Dont need to bet big though to achieve this.

HOWEVER GTO wants us to check this 100% back. What's interesting is that if we improve our hand to double backdoor flushdraws, then GTO wants us to bet 100% at 1/2 pot. Makes sense, I can wrap my head around that.

Villain checks turn. Generally he shouldn't be able to connect well with a 3bet range that goes check/call on this flop. I mean yeah he could def have AA9T, but other than that, I got the nuts/str8s more often than he does.

GTO wants us to check our hand back here 100% the time. In hindsight, if I still want to bet turn here, I think 1/2 pot given stack sizes. 423 is too big, I can still jam river at a bet of 320ish. But I don't think its a big difference in this premise.

Villain checks. I go full pot. He calls.

Pretty much if you're the guy holding AA on this river, you decide based on your read on villain. Close your eyes.

Yeah not so hot. I'll post up one or two of the interesting hand histories tomorrow morning most likely. At least got some back towards the end. Rake was good though.

Yesterday's HU $5/10 PLO (will most likely do my analysis + GTO on my youtube channel) since gotta head out for the day. Which means no volume most likely... rip rake challenge.

Villain pots. I raise to $90. He calls.

I cbet $60. He raises me to $200. I call.

Turn I check. He checks back.

River I check. He bets $500. I call.

I think if I really had AA/AT, this would be my line on this runout fwiw. So AK becomes a great bluff catcher & blocker aside from just having the T.

Been playing seriously for almost 7 years now. I'm a cash game player, but I'll sit in a few MTTs that have good value. 2/5 NL live was my primary game for many years (still is) if I walk into a random casino.

Had an amazing group of hs/college poker friends (well above the average I'd guess) and just talked poker for years. Even the smallest of poker analysis will eventually add up and build a strong foundation.

Thank you! Let's keep it strong till the finish line.

So been in and out of sleep. I'm either sick or got covid. Muscle feels sore, light headache, no cough though, chest feels a little congested, hot fever to the head, shivers through the night freezing cold. I think I may have gone out for one too many dinners lately (we do wear mask out to safeway etc but we take it off during dinners out).

Gonna get tested in two days. But for my age group, this should be a walk in the park recovery. Looked at the poker tables, considsred grinding.

Hope its just flu.

So aside from waking up every hour or two, I've pretty much slept for over 28 hours+ straight or something near that. My back actually hurts from being in bed that long. I do however feel better than 1.5 day ago.

Since I forgot to post graph from 2 day ago session.

Today's Upstuck Graph:

Was feeling pretty great (literally) from the fact that I don't feel like **** compared to yesterday. Then swung up to $11k profit. Sadly lost a $10k multiway flop with massive equity, and hero called a $3k river wrong, and folded $500 to a $5k pot incorrectly......

Overall cannot complain though! At $1100 rake paid, we lost this challenge for sure.

Here's the $500 fold to $5K pot I was talking about.

so there's actually a small frequency where I can call this, and it's really dependent on how loose my opponents range are. iirc playing with their range, if I make some V as wide as 40%, then it actually becomes an overwhelming call. but after fine tuning their ranges to what i believe is reasonable, it becomes a fold.

sadly though, in the short term. the guy who donk jams from sb has QT97 rainbow. and one other guy all-in has like 4557.... so I would've scooped with just a naked J. that made me smirk. i guess when in doubt and getting 10-1. just call. cant go too wrong.

Very uneventful day, esp towards the end. Waited forever, got into 3 "big" pots, ran all 3 bluffs, only 1 got through. Kinda tilted me, but luckily the table got so bad I wanted to just kms and left the table (nits playing a 22 vpip in PLO WTF).

at least I did good on rake, approx $1650 paid today.

Hopefully tomorrow will be much more juicy and fun. Sometimes you just gotta grind the rent money.

Done for the day. I'm not tilted about the money itself (this is w/e in the grand scheme of the game), but I am super life tilted to LOSING because I challenged a ****ing 1% [LITERALLY] 3better in a 6max to HU and lost to him (EVERY POT). Long story short, we played 5 pots, and he pipped me w/ higher nuts each time. I asked for 25/50 HU (cus it'll take forever to bleed him out and I'm starting to steam, but he declines). I quit after the last cooler. Which did look bad on my account because I quit about 30 minutes earlier than the agreed upon time limit.

I'll review the 5 hands later and see how GTO approved it was. Prob post one on here, and review the rest on the yt channel.

probably good for future EV. But most of us who play poker has some silly amount of pride. Fwiw it is what it is.
