Sheer variance. How many of each have you played? Think a good sample for 180 mans is like 3k maybe more!

Anyway just be thankfully its not the other way around!

Good luck I'm sure Ull be back playing the 15s in no time.

Lol I have played just under 1k of both in this challenge. Yeah I know it's just variance :/ So weird though. I played 5k $2.50s from my previous challenge and made $1.6k from that, so I know I am profitable at them

Wow this is the first time since the start of my challenge that I have had to stop registering earlier than I had planned. Getting a littttle bit tilted. Losing every race yadda yadda yadda, just epitomised by losing AA to JJ first hand of a $15 at the same time as busting a different $15 KQ vs KT close to money. And busted a 20k stack in an $8 K5 vs T8 and TT vs A4

Still got a few $8s and $2.50s up but probably going to be a very very short $300 loss sad times

EVBB/100 is 2 with actual being -31! How is that even possible?

My 2nd losing week in a row and it's really bad that downswings cause me to lose motivation to play. Need to sort my attitude out :/

Seeing my girlfriend this weekend but I am still going to target at least 20 hours this week.

I am below $1.5k profit so I cannot include the $15s anymore. About to play a session now with full concentration!

The main thing would be learning push/fold ranges, so you have to play around in Sit n Go Wizard even if it is only for a month's free trial. After the first 3 or 4 levels, 95% of decisions are shove or fold. There is hardly any postflop play, so this is definitely the key to 180-mans.

As for 'ponte''s comment, I don't believe that $2.50s should have higher variance than $8s, so I would like to know why you think this?

The way I see it, more people know push/fold ranges and calling ranges in the higher buy-ins, (or they play closer to perfect ranges), meaning that upon getting to preflop all-ins, your equity will be higher in the lower buy-in games.

A very disappointing week volume wise. I am annoyed at myself for losing motivation just because of a bit of a downswing. I need to get over the fact that after getting off to a start that was well above EV, things are now evening out and I just have to play more to win more, dealing with all the variance with an indifferent attitude. Simple right? Hopefully I'll put in a decent week of volume this week.

Same old story with another disappointing week of volume. I lost a bit on tuesday and wednesday so was then demotivated to play on thursday and friday (once again annoyed at myself).

However, I fortunately won $1k on the weekend so hopefully that will kickstart me into playing more again! Especially as I can now include the $15s again.

At the end of this week, it will have been just over 2 months since the start of my challenge so I will do a massive stat overload across all the games. I have averaged 19 hours per week so far, which is not awful, but I know it should be a lot higher. I have also been applying to jobs for next year recently which has taken up some time, but that is really no excuse not to be playing :/

Anyway, I am delighted to have had a very good week in terms of profitability and just need to get more hours for more $$$.

Siiiiiiiiiiiick just had a +$657.08 session!

Strangely I feel a bit disappointed though. I came 2nd in a $15 again that I had a 2:1 chip lead in at one point (and there's about $250 between 2nd and 1st! ). I also came 9th twice in $15 games - one of them losing a 70k pot KK<A8

I was thinking it could have easily been a +$1k session but oh well. I can't complain and I am now at my peak profit of $2785.38 since the start of the challenge! And I am back to an hourly of nearly $20, which is incredible compared to a lot of jobs :P

I was down $300 a couple of hours ago and starting to feel a bit down again :/ and then

BAM BAM BAM BAM FINAL TABLE FINAL TABLE FINAL TABLE FINAL TABLE

Started just winning everything and felt like I could easily have a +$1k session, but alas it was not to be :/

Bizzarely, I ended my session disappointed to only win $367!

This week I have only played 9 hours of poker but I'm up over $1k and due to other commitments, I won't be playing any more poker this week, so I thought I'd just quickly post my overall graph:

LOOK AT THAT HEATERRRRRR! :P Makes me feel silly for being so gutted about the $1.5k downswing before it

I get to see my girlfriend on the weekend too so life's good right now

Seeing as I have now more than doubled my money since the start of this challenge and seeing as it has nearly been 2 months, I will post a massive statistic breakdown of all the games I have played and therefore attempt to analyse some of my leaks. I will do this on Sunday or Monday

Not long to go until $10k now and I can play $35s and MTTs! hopefully

If not, then maybe I am just one of these:

Since I last posted, it has been the same old story of not playing as many hours as I would like for a variety of reasons, but having incredible results in the hours I have played! So this is not disastrous, and the fact that I am running so well gives me more motivation to try to put in more hours. I am only just 2 months into a whole year, so I fully expect myself to buck up and start putting in consecutive 30 hour weeks soon.

As I said before, soon I will give a massive statistical breakdown of all games, but for now I am just quickly going to do the summaries of week 9 and 10.

A very bad week for the $15s and obviously I didn't get in much volume. Volume this week will be low again as I am busy on the weekend and I have a job interview on Friday for a job starting in September 2014. Only 1 job out of 12 people though so my hopes aren't too high, but this is the one job that I really really really want so fingers crossed

I feel like I haven't played poker in ages! Let's go

Sorry about the lack of updates! I'll be on top of it all soon - just had a very busy couple of weeks.

Barely played last week but lost about $400, but won that all back yesterday, and right now I've just won my first ever $15 game!!

Not only that, but fate chose something weird and wonderful to happen because I also hit my first royal flush of this challenge in the heads up of that same game!

Exactly 3 months in and I am on target for my $15k profit in the year so I am fairly happy about that. I am still disappointed with my volume, but maybe that can be a new years resolution :P

I didn't get the job that I so badly wanted but I got to the final 6 out of 267 people for 1 job so I can't be too down. But it means I have to be busying myself doing a lot of applications and online tests and interviews in the coming weeks.

In terms of the poker, I still cannot fathom why I am about breakeven in the $2.50s - very bizarre. I have filtered by HEM and seen that I am running extremely badly on FTs of $2.50s but it still seems odd for ALL of my profit to be coming from the $8s and $15s.
