Hey guys

Long time lurker on 2+2 but I was never very active.

I started playing poker 1 year ago. In the beginning I studied a bit and played around 8k hands in 2nl and was breakeven. After this period I played small live tourneys regularly and did ok in them (a bit above breakeven).

Since quarantine started, I played a lot of microstake tourneys online and I have to say, I'm sure I lost way more than I won. I played way too loose and was a calling station.

So last week I said it's enough to myself and I started to grind and study. I watched some guides, took preflop charts from upswing and read the grinder's manual couple of times.

Below sample is from past week. All 2nl Zoom and from the 10K hands mark, I started to play 5nl zoom (I added some money on pokerstars to 16 BI)

Now when I look at my stats, I think I have the following leaks:

- Too high 3bet frequency in the blinds --> will get a chart to help me with this (someone a suggestion?) --> I discovered that I 3bet light too much in the SB
- Still too high cbet% (last 5k hands I worked on this, in the beginning it was almost 100%)
- Calling too wide IP when someone 3bets me
- I'm sure i have a 100 more leaks

What do you guys think?

I will keep updating this thread to let you guys know how the grind is going. I will also try to post hands that I think I missplayed.

Good game!
Are you playing GTO or exploitative?

Exploitative. I bet big for value and fold to their BIG raises on the turn or river.

In the past days that I have played, I have had a big downswing (9 buyins). I had 3 times AA vs KK in 100 hands. The rest of the downswing I hit nothing or the villians got the better of me. I'm sure it should've only been +-7 buyins downswing though. I made a couple tilted Hero calls where villian always has it.

Will post a graph soon

Hi guys

It's time for an update. See below my graph. I kept playing in 5nl zoom, but I experienced some huge swings. I'm starting to doubt that I'm a winning player in this pool. Ofcourse I can always think this is variance, but I rather find the problem within my play.

I'm tagging hands to review during my sessions. These are hands I'm just not sure I made the right play. Below some hands:

HAND 1
PokerStars - $0.05 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players

BTN: 92.6 BB
SB: 134.2 BB
Hero (BB): 180.2 BB
UTG: 114.6 BB
MP: 133.8 BB
CO: 162.6 BB

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has Qh Qd
fold, fold, CO raises to 2 BB, fold, SB raises to 5 BB, Hero raises to 15.2 BB, fold, SB calls 10.2 BB

Flop : (32.4 BB, 2 players) Td Jd Ac
SB bets 31 BB, Hero calls 31 BB

Turn : (94.4 BB, 2 players) 8c
SB bets 88 BB and is all-in

- 3bet size is ok because I'm in position on SB? or do I need to make it 4x because CO has position on me?
- Should I just fold on the flop cause of his sizing? What do I beat..

HAND 2
PokerStars - $0.05 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players

BTN: 187.6 BB
SB: 150.8 BB
Hero (BB): 137.6 BB
UTG: 230.8 BB
MP: 79.6 BB
CO: 100 BB

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has Qd Ad
fold, MP raises to 3 BB, CO raises to 9 BB, fold, fold, Hero calls 8 BB, MP calls 6 BB

Flop : (27.4 BB, 3 players) 4h 3c 7d
Hero checks, MP checks, CO bets 7.8 BB, Hero calls 7.8 BB, fold

Turn : (43 BB, 2 players) Qh
Hero checks, CO bets 20.6 BB, Hero calls 20.6 BB

River : (84.2 BB, 2 players) 5h
Hero checks, CO checks

- Bad hand to flatcall out of position?
- Just fold it on the flop? I thought continue on the turn on a diamond, ace or queen? I can already be dominated on an ace though...
-Normal call on the turn I guess, since I got so far already

HAND 3
PokerStars - $0.05 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players

BTN: 124 BB
SB: 114.4 BB
BB: 147.2 BB
UTG: 65.2 BB
Hero (MP): 101.4 BB
CO: 110.2 BB

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has Ah Jc
fold, Hero raises to 2.8 BB, fold, fold, SB raises to 9 BB, fold, Hero calls 6.2 BB

Flop : (19 BB, 2 players) Jh Ks 6h
SB bets 6 BB, Hero calls 6 BB

Turn : (31 BB, 2 players) Th
SB bets 20 BB, Hero calls 20 BB

River : (71 BB, 2 players) 5c
SB bets 54.4 BB

-OK hand to flat in position?
- Flop call = ok I think
- Turn is a bad call, I think. What is he value betting there that I'm beating? What is he bluffing? naked Q or heart? Shouldn't have called because I can't call a third barrel I guess?

Hey guys

I haven't posted in a while so time for an update.

Last time I posted I said that I was having big swings, well the swings kept coming. I took a break for a week to study. I purchased the course of Run it once 'From the ground up'. After watching 50% of the course I started playing again.

See below for my graphs. I kept playing 5nl zoom. The point I started studying with the course of RIO is at 16K hands in the 5nl graph. In the last 11K hands I played 15 sessions and only lost in 2 of those sessions. I like to think I'm playing better but it's also variance for sure. You can see that I have been lucky in All in situations. I haven't really been sucking out but I won a lot of flips that were in my favor like 70-30. Those at up.

What I improved

- BB defence ranges - I was defending way to tight in the BB
- Preflop ranges - Playing a bit looser on the BTN and CO + I am 3betting hands that are more playable in a 3bet pot
- Double barreling more on cards that should help my range

5NL Zoom graph

I started with a bankroll of 50 EUR. Now I am at 197 EUR. I'm not sure about moving up. I think I will grind more hands until 300 EUR. This gives me a lot of volume in 5nl to know that I'm winning for sure and 30 buyins for 10nl.

What do you guys think?

UPDATE

Bankroll is 250$ atm.. I'm running very good. I played 13 sessions since 1st june and only lost money in 2 sessions (total of 200bb).

Yesterday I played 1 5nl zoom table and 1 10nl zoom table. I didn't notice that big of a difference, in this short session, except there is maybe slightly more 3betting in 10nl.
