2NL zoom and beyond! 2NL zoom and beyond!

Hi there 2plus2, my name is David, i'm 22 years old and from the U.K.

A Little about me
First started playing poker when i was 16 at college (english college not university, so i guess highschool in America?) Ended up skipping a decent amount of lessons to play these live cash games which were only 1p, 2p games but alot of fun none the less. Subsequently i ended up dropping out of college (probably shouldn't have skipped all those lessons) and haven't really done much since.

Online history
I've been playing online poker on and off with no significant results. Probably about $100 down lifetime at this point playing like an utter donkey thinking i was good, and playing far too high stakes (25NL with a $50 roll). I have pretty severe tilt issues which i will have to work on at some point.

This thread/My goals
Hopefully starting this thread will give me the motivation to constantly share/analyse hands with others, and potentially present an opportunity to meet some people who enjoy the game as well. My skype name is: Norris_is_godly, so if you fancy some strategy talk then feel free to add me. I'd love to be part of a little study group. I've handed in my notice for my ****ty job at the local supermarket, and im going to really try and figure out what i want to do with my life. Maybe it's playing poker full-time, hopefully this little journey of mine will help me figure that out. I've set the follow poker goals as an absolute minimum because i find having set targets to reach for motivates me and they are the following:
  • Achieve a $1500 bankroll.
  • Qualify for a live UKIPT event.
I'll also set some goals outside of poker in case anyone is interested in that as well which are:
  • Hit the gym 3 times a week throughout 2015.
  • Practice meditation every morning
  • Read 1 book a week.

I've never really done anything worthwhile with my life thus far, and its almost certainly down to my chronic laziness so im hoping the creation of this thread will be a real turning point. Honestly couldnt tell you anything significant ive done since i dropped out of college 5 years ago, so here's to hoping all of that will change soon. Really motivated to give this everything i've got so lets see where we end up.

Ok so i thought i'd post a couple of hands i played yesterday. Any feedback on them would be much appreciated. I spewed quite alot of money away pretty embarrassingly. I guess i'll post the hands of me being a little spew monkey so you can all point and laugh. Maybe that'll force me to stop being an absolute donkey. Ended up losing about $8 overall during the session.

Absolutely no info on villain as i recently deleted my database (pretty stupid i know) I guess this is just 88/99 all day, given the general player pool at 2NL? He has a full stack so i guess thats a slight indiction that he's probably a 2NL reggy type of player. Should probably be folding the turn?

Again no stats on villain, which will be a common theme until i build up a decent database. He doesn't have auto top up enabled though which may indicate a fishier type of player. Don't think my raise on river is too thin? I think he has more Qx in his range than boats? I decided to slow play flop as i flopped so well which may or may not have been a mistake. I think i probably need to stop these weird slow plays at 2NL as the majority of the player pool are passive nitty type players. Probably something to look into.

Watching this one back hurts my brain. What on earth was i thinking? His range is completely uncapped, and the largish flop bet would indicate strength. Think i just thought getting his AK/AQ to fold the flop would be profitable. As it happens he floats the KQ making my play terrible. Lets not even talk about the turn and the river...

Cannot bring myself to fold this river, even though the lead out means almost exclusively the Ad Maybe i'll be able to make the lay down here one day. At these stakes i dont think he ever has anything else. What do you guys think of the way the hand was played?

Played a couple of sessions since the last post. First one went terrible, second one exceptional. I seem to have a really bad habit of cbetting flops and giving up on the turn or floating flops and giving up turns. Gonna put some work into building some x/r ranges on flops. I'm definitely calling flops with backdoor flush/backdoor straight/overcards and just folding on blank turns which tend to come pretty often, and even getting myself in trouble when i do hit the flushdraw on the turn.

Probably gonna renew my membership over at deucescracked and watch the Haj school series as i've heard alot of good things about it. Any other series on deucescracked or other training sites than people can recommend?

I'd really appreciate some feedback on the above hands too. I'll post some more later on but i dont want to just clog the thread with 5000 hands. Little summary of the two sessions i played:

          Hi Norris,

regarding KK hand you should have bet higher the turn, u give too good price for his draw and dont take full value of Qx hands, on the river its speculative Kd its second nuts, you just think what your opponent could call with two barrels.

Hey man, thanks for the reply. Yeah i agree on the betsizing. Definitely another area of my game that needs some work. Its a real habit of mine to just hit the half pot button. Losing out on some value for sure as you said
