Just my two cents, but as someone who has the expendable income IRL, if you're comfortable with it, I'd definitely suggest just plunging to 10nl.

I know the feeling of the money feeling irrelevant, and that's because at 5nl it...well it is. Even 10nl is going to feel like that when you're making 80k+ a year. You're clearly a winning player, and you might as well try to keep the progression going.

Even if you just set yourself a stop loss at 400, play 10nl til you fall to that or you're better rolled for 25nl..that still gives you a 27BI shot...which tbh is more than enough for these stakes.

But I think, and again just my two pennies, but I think when you're making good money IRL, winning a $10, or $20 pot doesn't really feel like it's worth your time.

Obv it's up to you, but I've tried to adopt the mindset of get the hell out of the micros asap.

It's an interesting point, once I get a solid win rate at 5NL I might try it out. I lost 6bi today at 5nl. Ran 2 under EV but still. When I start beating it consistently I'll take some shots.

today

I was playing too many tables I would say. I was playing 10, I'm going to drop it down to 6.

Played some tournaments and lost some. Was deep in the big 5.50 and the same guy beat me with 66 over my 77 and he beat me all in again with Q10 vs my AK. Would have been near the chip lead. Instead, $18 lol.

I decided to play some cash after that and took a shot at 10NL like smittos suggested. It went pretty well. I was a bit surprised that the level of play wasn't much better. Maybe I was just on at a good time. Just one tabled zoom for about 3 hours:

Current Roll: $636.45

I have been playing too big buy ins for tournaments (some $7-$11). As it's just a fun thing I'm going to keep them under $4.40 now. The variance is too high to risk more. In fact I'll probably stick mostly to the $2.20's.

I have some leaks that still need correcting. Mostly I am going to focus on my flop play. I was misplaying a lot of spots when I did a snowie review. (love snowie btw. The desktop ap.) I have been way too aggressive in dumb spots. Like if someone checks to me I'm betting it most of the time lol. I almost can't help myself. But I am going to work on it and focus on good board textures. I've been better at not paying off the river but still on occasion do. A full house tonight I called with when it was pretty obvious the guy had a bigger one. Made one really great call on the river though, thought it through and made the right decision. Would have folded that for sure not long ago.

Todays graph. Pretty happy how things are coming along. Still playing mostly 5NL zoom but mixing in a bit of 10 NL zoom too. Have gone down to 1 or 2 tables and it's helping. Also poker snowie has really helped me. I love it.

Hovered around break even the last two days. I get up a bit in cash and seem to give it back in tournaments. I like playing sat's into bigger ones and it's often a shove fest. I should probably stop playing them.

Current roll: $647.89

I'm off the next two days so I expect to put in some good volume. Probably 2 table 5NL zoom but if it goes well I may shoot at 10NL too.

Well played over 2K hands so far today and it did not start well. Was down 8bi at 5nl. I was getting cold decked like never before. I started to think I was playing like **** so went to snowie and I was playing at world class level lol. Just the way it goes but my first real hard down swing where I felt I was playing really well. My other down swings I played like ****. I was on the verge of tilt when a buddy texted me and wanted to meet for lunch thankfully.

I got back and turned it around. Only down a few doll hairs for the day now. I know there will be many more times this will happen. Need to work on the mental game a bit more as if I kept playing I would have tilted off a bunch I think.

Current Roll $643.97

get out of the micros!!! just jump in to 50nl and dont play anything lower. leave 5nl to chinese microstakes grinders. burn out is a real thing. you only have so many hands of poker you can play you dont want to waste it playing micros. if you really want to learn and get better you should 1 table 50nl imo. im sure you gonna do your own thing though so good luck!!!

Ok so got an email about stars reload bonus and decided to do it. I deposited $200USD, got a $40 bonus and won half my 10 spins for another $10. I got $10 in rakeback last night too.

So current Roll is $896.21

I'm going to move up to $10NL Zoom playing no more than 2 tables and see how it goes. Stop loss is 5 buy ins. I quit or drop to 5NL during that session.

Well I ended up starting my day at 5NL and lost a few bi playing badly. Took a break, did some stuff around the house and decided to give 10NL a shot. Biggest win so far other than the tournament I binked.

Find it pretty interesting that I see worse plays at 10NL than at 5NL. Maybe it's just the times I've played and it's a coincidence as its a super small sample. Just some really bizarre ****.

So poker goal updates for the month:

I should be over 20K hands and I am. I am playing less tables (2 zoom tables only) so I'm not sure if it's realistic to expect 40K. I'm not too worried about it as long as I'm somewhat close. Right now sitting at 20,292.

I have used snowie before every session and sometimes after like I planned, it's been a huge help.

Reading Grinders Manual has been slow. I find Snowie so useful I pretty much would rather spend time with it. That is not an excuse though because I have downtime at work I could be reading it.

Meditate 5 mins before each session. I have been the last 4 days or so but I was slack before that. Just need to continue with it though, it's very helpful.

Feb Graph so far. The session today was a big confidence booster. I know its a tiny sample but we gotta celebrate the small wins imo.

Current Roll: $955.81

Happy hunting everyone

Well done. Congrats on being profitable!! I learn from your careful and pondered approach.
What type of meditation do you like to do? I used to meditate before the sesssion for 20+ min and 5min during most of the MTT breaks. I do Autogen Training and the results are amazing, it's the nearest thing to "panacea".

When meditating before and during the session. In two days:

It looks like you are ready to move up the stakes.

@QuantumM1nd

For meditating I use this thing called a Mews. It's a headband that measures brain waves. You pair it with an ap on your phone and it tracks your progress. How long a session you are in "calm, neautral or distracted". I'm a gadget guy, I bought it when it was on kickstarter. I do find i meditate more having it though. Usually just 5-10 mins. I might move up to more in the future. Those results are great, congrats to you. Keep it up.

As for stakes, I like that chart. I won't be withdrawing but agree with the levels. I will stick to 10NL hopefully and do well there. Cheers

Edit: I misread your chart. It says I should move up to 25NL now. Interesting.....as I just moved to 10NL I think I'll play there for at least awhile before I make the jump. I want to make sure I'm a consistent winner there, then move to 25NL. Maybe if things go well this week I'll take a shot or two.

Well got home from work and loaded up 3 tournaments. Can't believe it but I binked another one lol. The 1.5K 2.20 deep payouts for $283.98.

I'm surprised for sure but I gotta say I played my A game most of the time. The mistakes I did make didn't cost me a lot of chips save for one hand. Obviously ran good too and most of my big hands held up.

Again, studying the cash game is what is responsible for the win. That and luck.

Played some 10Nl zoom tonight and some tournaments. Blew off almost $30 in the tournaments. Played one $11 bi and wasn't focusing at all. Not sure why I did that as if its just for kicks, keep it under the $4.40 as I've said before. Correction made.

The zoom went better. I swear I've seen worse plays at this level than 5nl. Here are some hands lol:

I have been getting much better at my flop play (when to cbet, when not to, when to call, when to float) and I've amped up my aggression in spots I think villain is weak. Been adding in some more turn bluffs too. Need to put in some study time as I've been slacking a bit on that front the last few days. Gotta do a big review session.

First losing session in awhile this morning at 10nl zoom. Should have folded my straight on the river when the board paired and the guy jammed. Lost $10 I shouldn't have. Other big hand I lost was my AA gets cracked on the turn by a Q to make a guy a set. Don't think I can get away from that one though.
