Self-explanatory goal, starting with $50 and using 25-30bi BRM on PartyPoker.

Why? I'm fed-up with donking around at higher stakes (25nl-200nl), playing fundamentally badly and losing money.

I'll post my results at the beginning of each month and if I feel I've made significant progress then I'll consider injecting cash to jump to the next stake.

I'll also be playing some online sats to Live MTT's for recreation.

I'm going to learn the game from scratch - how to play at equilibrium and appropriately exploit. I'll do this by studying hands with PIO, supplemented by coaching courses - I'll take extensive notes as well as making and testing my own theories, possibly with a view to compiling a book relating to the microcosmic relationship between life and poker. I'll also do mental-game work using my audio content.

This is about mastery of a game that I believe can be enormously +lifeEV when understood and executed correctly, in terms of exploring oneself and the broader picture of understanding game theory in life. And if this all translates into a financially profitable venture, then all the better. But I believe that to maximise ones lifeEV through poker, the stakes have to be of zero importance.

Off-the-table goals.

- ethically maximise income (is this an oxymoron?) to maintain/achieve financial security for my family, whilst managing to balance work with family, outdoor leisure, fitness, DIY and of course my poker work (which I largely consider to be a combination of life-study work, mental exercise and recreation)

- maximise outdoor time with the children, including camping whenever possible, as well as maximising educational leisure activity (over watching tv for example)

- maximise wellbeing with regular strength training, running, yoga, plant/protein-based meals, meditation, and sleep routine (around 10pm-6am)

- finish my current motorhome DIY project

- ruthlessly minimise my possessions, sorting through and de-cluttering the house, shed and garage. Avoid unnecessary spending

The ultimate goal?

To live optimally, without exploiting others nor being exploited by others. Practically, I want to acquire land and progressively build a relatively self-sufficient settlement. I believe it necessary for each of us to move (back) toward this way of life - necessary personally, globally and planetarily - if we're going to have any kind of future, qualitatively. I have a ton of work to do, not only for financial means but also in terms of knowledge required regarding the practical application of self-sufficient living, but it's something that I'm gradually exploring and incorporating into my daily life.

Thoughts welcome.

Good luck OP. You don't need PIO or courses for the smallest stakes I think - just flop something good, go berserk and rake in the cash

Ty - the goal isn't necessarily to beat the lowest stakes, but to explore, understand and master the game and in doing so exploring, understanding and mastering my life

This died quickly. Just like poker_noobs dreams.

Wasn’t expecting much from you but this is just sad.

Haha so sad. Actually just about all of the opening post is in progress, barring the 2nl grinding. I remember those few weeks I was coming off the back of some really sh*tty variance and I was in the process of re-thinking my poker involvement. Not sure exactly how I came to the conclusion that grinding 2nl would be a good idea - too much coffee maybe.

Apparently you're 'a very very high stakes pro' - I'd love to know who
