Over the past ten years, I've made more than a million dollars playing online poker. As it stands today, I have near nothing to show for it.

I'm starting this thread because I need narrative in my life. Standing in this sea of bull**** that my life has become, I need to build something positive. Over the years I've had some amazing runs, disgusting beats and periods of stagnation. Lately, I've been in a complete daze, consuming myself with thoughts of what could have been. I've always known its wasteful and unproductive, but its just so easy to lose yourself in such thoughts.

My poker story is typical: uni kid deposits a few hundred quid and runs it up. I've taken shots up to 10kNL and final tabled a few major TV events. Current day I'm playing 200nl-1k, 6max and heads up.

From this moment I'm dedicating myself to becoming the best poker player I can be. My prime concern is poker $EV, with additional goals of generally being a better person. As I understand, setting specific and targeted goals yields the best results. As such, I will lay them out now.

1. Earn 500k USD by the end of 2017
2. Cut until 80kg by July 1, then bulk
3. Repair relationship with friends and family I've let fall to the wayside

How are you going to accomplish those goals? People are great at posting goals but the important stuff is the plan for achieving those goals. How will you repair your relationships? Specifically what will you do to make sure you don't crash and burn again?

7cXc seems the right hand for this line, just gotta make sure not to overdo it. Also think I should prefer hands like Ac7c or Kc7c so I can cooler lower flushes on riv when it comes in. Villain raises some 8x on flop so I have edge in nizzles (big 8 and obv KK) and should get him off Kx and maaaybe some 8x on riv.

not sure how I feel about this one... need to be betting something like this to bluff club rivers (ie if I just bluff AcXy then I have no river bluffs after betting turn) so I guess this is fine. Should prefer betting this gutshot over 8x or 99 since its just a worse hand.

Got in a couple hundred hands of hunl against a reg and ran a bit meh. Tuesday games aren't the greatest but I'll put in some time later today.

Its not like riv, we still have pot equity with our hand on the turn. I think it could be fine to bet both 97s and T7s here but I'll run it through pio to see what it says

yeah tough questions. Not really sure what the plan is. I'll work on being more available to family and old friends. WRT poker goals, I think I need to set shorter term smaller goals that lead to the desired eventual outcome. I'll start with a volume goal: 30k hands more by the end of March. I've played 2500 today and I'll get in a session later today, so that's a decent start. I'll figure out some specific goals with regards to health and fitness, and off-the-table study time.

Nasty spot against nit reg. He splits limps/raises unbalanced here and is far too weighted towards suited junk pre. I would expect him to raise 88 and 66 100% and also would have expected him to raise the hand he ended up having more often than not. On flop I'd expect to see flush draws, straight draws, A8 and A6 he decides to limp/call and maybe a random 6x protection/bluff raise. Given that range, I small bet on turn to value town bigger flushes, straight draws and getting a cheap SD against the boats.

So on the river, remember this dude is a nit. I have 15 combos of boats here (suited A6 and A8, offsuit AT, 88, 66) and an additional ~5-6 combos of nutflushes. If I fold my Qhi-5hi flushes that's only 8 combos so I can find a few more folds... Off the top of my head I feel that calling with 8c blocker and folding all other flushes should be the preferred strat, and maybe calling a few of the nut flush combos. Our range is just so boat heavy we don't really have to be calling so many of these flushes. |

I mainly called because of the 8c blocker and thinking my small bet size would induce something random or dumb 1-10% of the time. Oh well, nits gonna nit

Volume is going strong so I'll just keep chuggin' away here. I'll save the graph for the end of the month. Its not looking the greatest as of right now, heh

Assuming we raise nutflushes and 2nd nut flushes on flop most of the time, we'll have AcTx (3) AcQx (3) KcQx (3) and KcTx (3) so 12 flushes, plus maybe a slowplay or two from flopped nut flushes. We'll be generous and say 15 flushes worth a value bet on club rivers so we're gonna need ~6 bluffs so yeah I think 97s T7s seems like it would work out fine. Still too lazy to run it through pio

EDIT: actually I should be raising AcTx on flop quite a bit since we have straight blocker and we need to be semibluffing against the small flop bet size. It is quite close wrt 97 T7 on riv

Curious to why would you be overbluffing in the AJ hand?
KK,KQ is 18 combos and AJ is 12 which equates to exactly the potodds you are giving villain. Unless you plan on bluffing other hands ofc

I don't x/r flop with sets or 2pair and turn brings a few more 2p combos for me. I was also reading into his betsizing a bit... pretty sure he bets flop bigger with really good hands with whale in the pot. Got the super deep tank-fold

regfish clicking away. I'd be ok with this line with something like 43 (set blocker and straight blocker) Also wrt my hand selection, I don't like this turn sizing with this combo. 55 or 22 would be better just to unblock the top pairs.

At the price I bet I need almost 3:1 value to bluff ratio. So given my 18 value combos, I should be bluffing around 6 combos.

Also something worthy of noting in that hand: He made it just over a minraise so I'd be peeling AK there as well. Now with AK I should probably just go all in on the river, but I could be betting a few of those combos for this smaller sizing so we can add a few combos there
