Hey guys.
I've decided to make a challenge thread to try and help me stay on track. I will be starting at 2NL online which is the level I play at the moment. As the title suggests my aim is to be beating 200NL by the end of the year. I know this may sound unrealistic but I truly believe I can do it and also I thought may as well set my targets high and if I finish a few levels below I'll still be happy! A big problem for me at the moment is tilt and I'm hoping posting my progress here might help me to stop.
A bit about me:
I'm 19 and live in the UK. I finished at college last year and plan to go to university this September to study Physical Education and Sports Coaching. However until them I am working 30 hours a week doing night shifts at a local supermarket. To be honest my dream is to play poker professionally, as ridiculous as that may sound coming from someone at 2NL! So the way I look at it I have the next 4 1/2 years to try and achieve this whilst I get my degree, and if it fails then P.E teacher it is!
A bit about poker:
I came across poker funnily enough whilst betting on sports on Betfair last year. I deposited $10 but unfortunately this isn't one of them story's where I ran it up to $10,000 and never look back. No, instead, I blew it in about 5 minutes on MTT's and I'd wasted about $100 dollars before I even knew that a flush beats a straight! However by this point I was hooked on poker and as hard as I tried couldn't leave it alone. So my options were learn how to play properly or gain a massive gambling addiction.
I started learning the basics over the last year but because of exams didn't have to much time available until June last year. In June I deposited on Pokerstars with some basic knowledge but unfortunately I'd either not yet came across Bankroll Management or didn't take it seriously. I got quickly crushed from 50NL down to 5 NL before I found 2NL where could pretty much breakeven. As you can imagine I was a bit disheartened with this and went back to the drawing board, read Crushing the Microstakes a couple of times, watched a few videos, and have since managed to get my winrate up to 7bb/100 over 80,000 hands at 2NL..... Then I tilted and blew it again.
That brings me to the present I think? I'll be posting updates regularly, including Hand Histories, and also starting next week will give myself monthly and maybe weekly challenges?
My first update will most likely be Sunday night so until then I leave you with some depressing graphs of the last year
