QQ was an on the fly adjustment to his turn sizing. At the time I thought his turn small protection sizing stuff did too well by betting tiny and checking back rivers. Shouldn't be hard to balance with bluffs/semi bluffs. Just use some of the hands we would use in check/jam range vs normal sizing.

AQs 4bet is good. Think it plays better than flatting.

Thanks, will do!

Guy in my hotel last night doing a very Spanglish karaoke cover of Sweet Child of Mine, swaps one or two words and forever alters the songs message:

"Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place, where I would hide a child."

No poker, that is all.

Heyyyyy,

Back from holidays, feeling super relaxed and at peace. It was a really good time with loads of nice food, drinks and just chilling in the sunshine. We got a room upgrade and it was absolutely perfect. We had a big balcony/terrace thing, and it got sun all day, had a mini jacuzzi and was really private. So had to spend minimal time with other holiday makers haha. Went for a full body massage and spa the day after arriving also, which was the dream.

The big news from the holiday is that Aimee and I got engaged! I proposed on Saturday night after we'd been for a meal and cocktails, and she said yes. So we've just kind of been floating around on a happy cloud since then haha . I didn't have a ring to give her at the time, as had zero clue with regards to sizes, clarity/colour of diamonds and all that nonsense. But we went shopping on Tuesday (home Monday evening) and were able to pick one up that day.

Spoiler:

First image is before the event, visibly ****ting myself as you'd expect. The second image is how we announced it to friends/family via facebook, got quite a lot of love for that.

Back to reality a bit today I guess, with Aimee back to work and me on the grind again. Gotta earn some money to pay for a wedding now... I'm really pretty excited to get back to poker, feeling very relaxed and refreshed following my first real break in a year. Going to fire some MTTs tonight and play cash for the rest of the afternoon.

On holiday I played 4 hands of live poker. The hotel had an adjoining casino that spread 2/5 Euro NLH. The games looked obscenely soft (lots of old white dudes with their shirts open, drinking cocktails, etc.) but the rake was ridiculous and I had plenty of other things that I wanted to do. First hand I sit down I see a guy get 56o in pre for 1100 and win. I buy in for the max which is 800 for some weird reason and fold my first two hands. Next hand there's a couple of limps (including 56o guy) and I make it 55 with 99 in the cutoff. A few people cold call, and 56o guy re-raises to 200. I jam the rest in and he snaps me off with Qc2h, pings a Queen on the turn and I'm -800 for the trip haha.

Pretty frustrating to leave a game this good after just one bullet, but my heart was in the Pina Coladas at the bar.

Hope you're all well, thanks for reading

----------------------------

Hey people, long time no update! I guess I should have been expecting it, but I've been so so busy since the engagement was announced. It's just been a constant stream of people either coming round to our house, visiting friends and family, dinners and nights out. I must have put on over a stone in weight from all the food and alcohol. Currently have 16 (sixteen!) unconsumed bottles of champagne in my house, so if anyone wants some then please lmk!

It appears to have died down for the time being, so I'm back on the poker grind as of today. I feel pretty out of touch after such an extended break, so I only played a short session. I'm going to get the head down and do some lab work and review a RIO video or two this evening.

Booked flights and accommodation for EPT Barcelona a few days ago. I'm travelling over with a couple of friends, so if anyone reading is heading over then let me know and we'll get a dinner or arrange drinks, 5-a-sides, go-karting, or something else fun.

I've been reading a lot again. Between holiday and the time since getting home I've blitzed 4 books and am almost done with another two. I think my favourite of the bunch was Liar's Poker, by Michael Lewis - the same author as the Big Short. It's a semi-autobiographical novel about the mortgage bonds department at Soloman Brothers, Wall Street trading firm during the yuppy golden era. I'm also editing novels for two different, very close friends of mine. Once the books are up on Amazon I'll link to them in this thread.

Yeah I'm really not a big fan of champagne either to be honest, but it seems the go to gift for engagements. Checking/betting turn are both fine I think.

Hey man, thanks for the sub and the congrats. I really don't want to be posting daily/monthly graphs; I think people are inclined to post less often when they have to throw up downswing graphs, and I'd probably be one of those people. I'll do a big end of year thing probably with graphs, but for now it's just hands and narrative. YTD has been pretty good, all things considered.

Reviving this thread ahead of Barcelona next week, in hope of some 'new' thread run good. I love Barcelona as a city, so really excited for the trip. Also get to play some live poker too which is always fun. Hit me up if any of the readers or PGC guys are going and we'll meet up for a drink or a bite to eat.

Poker has been pretty turbulent over the last little bit. Basically since getting engaged I've had the doom switch on! Knew it was a bad idea! Haha. Getting back on track this month, playing mostly .50/1 and 1/2 to get the confidence back. Winning at a good clip at all stakes since July and just generally feeling much less pressured and high strung during sessions.

Plan for Barca is to grind a lot of €3/6 cash. Also flicking in the Estrellas Main, Estrellas €2k and the Barca Cup. Haven't yet won an EPT Main seat, so probably giving that a pass, but not writing it off completely. I'm flying out on the 17th and back home 28th.

Hey man, 20k/month is reasonable if you're working full time. Especially if you've got real life **** on top. Happy to hear I was providing motivation before going AWOL!
